Dark Matter Build

ragnakingragnaking Posts: 73 Arc User
This is something I came up since I was trying to make a "Dark Matter Manipulation" themed build. Though, naturally, I know full well it could be a lot better, so I was wondering what might be a more effective measure to go about everything. While it is set to DPS role, my original goal was admittedly never to make a true dps toon (I wasn't sure what I wanted them to be to be honest,) and instead of relying on heaps of EGO or DEX with crit build for my damage, I wanted to try out Defense Penetration for the theme since Dark Matter is something on the whole different from other matters (plus comic books) which is why I went with the INT main SS. That being said, It is hard figuring out what to use for powers that fit the dark matter theme bar Darkness powers, grant it Force Cascade was grabbed really just because I had a extra power and at rank 3, even if it gets no benefit from my passive it still does a metric ton of damage (and at the moment energy is practically not a problem, at least with the Q store gear which I do plan to swap out once I can grab better gear.)

Had to post a link due to the fact every time I tried to post the full build, it would push the post comment and other buttons at the bottom past the point of being able to actually use them for some reason.

(Yea, the forum scrolling issue is pretty annoying. Not sure what causes it now, but you can work around it by using the 'Down' arrow key to manually scroll to the end of your post, press 'Enter' a good few times to create some blank lines, and then delete those blank lines till the post buttons appear on the bottom again. After posting, you can then re-load the page to fix the display).

Planar Fracture isn't that strong of an Ult, but it's okay to keep here since it seems pretty thematic. I'd prob replace FC w/ ERuin, so you have a single-target attack that's easier to afford and better fits the backbone of the build. I may also add Dimensional Collapse for easier debuff management, and maybe use specs like Guardicator. Here's an edit of the build:

Dark Matter - Freeform (Ranged Damage)
    v3.43:35

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Intelligence (Primary)
    Level 10: Dexterity (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Specialist (Dex: 10, Con: 10, Int: 8, Rec: 10)
    Level 6: Negotiator (Int: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 12: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 15: Coordinated (Dex: 5, Int: 5)
Level 18: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
    Level 21: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Shadow Bolt
Level 1: Shadow Blast (Psychotic Break, Devoid)
    Level 6: Spirit Reverberation
    Level 8: Enchanter (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Concentration
Level 14: Shadow Embrace (Rank 2, Draining Shadows)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Ebon Ruin (Rank 2, Nyctophobia)
    Level 23: Resurgence
Level 26: Dimensional Collapse (Glimpse of the Abyss, Lingering Darkness)
Level 29: Ebon Rift (Rank 2, Endless Void)
Level 32: Ebon Void (Rank 2)
    Level 35: Fiery Embrace
Level 38: Planar Fracture (Rank 2, Double Vortex)
    Adv. Points: 36/36

    Travel Powers
Level 6: Power Skating (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Power Flight

    Specializations
    Intelligence: Preparation (2/2)
    Intelligence: Enlightened (3/3)
    Intelligence: Detect Vulnerability (3/3)
    Intelligence: Expertise (2/2)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (3/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (2/3)
    Mastery: Intelligence Mastery (1/1)

For single-target dps, it puts up Fear and Devoid w/ SBlast, and uses ERuin as it's main attack, while using DCollapse to refresh both debuffs. AoE can be done w/ a mix of SEmbrace, ERift, DCollapse, and Planar Fracture. Gears mostly for Int, w/ some Con and Rec (or Dex, if energy is fine).

Seems interesting enough. I wasn't sure what to use as my Ultimate to be honest so I grabbed Planar Fracture as a safe pic, though I I do have Endbringer's Grasp but didn't feel like it really fit the theme. I mean Planar is cool because it can apply a lot of debuffs but, at the same time a stronger, more reliable ult might be a good idea, what would you suggest that still fits the theme?

Will say... the new build hits a lot harder, gonna experiment with Ultimates but, once I can get some proper gear that can be modded (and the mods) I think it will be workable. Energy is a small problem, but only a small one atm. Some mods and gear would fix that up.

Well, I do like Planar Fracture visually, and it's fine enough as a large AoE DoT. Its main issue (imo) is not applying something like Overpower, but if you can get past that then it's okay to keep if it's thematic enough.
