Looking to update my Dual Pistol / Dual blade builds

andondarkmoreandondarkmore Posts: 671 Arc User
I have two Dual blade / Dual Pistol characters. One with a Defensive passive and one with an offensive passive.

Using pistols and Stun Batons ( Using nightstick skin for weapon and with Empowered Dragon Staff I have an electric attack with the nightsticks.)

The builds are not too dissimilar to the Bullet Ballet build that I recently posted in another thread. Here's some small editing to them:

GOOD SAMARITAN - Freeform (Melee Damage)
    v3.42:34

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Predator (Str: 10, Dex: 10, Con: 8, Rec: 10)
    Level 6: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 15: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 18: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Rain of Steel
    Level 1: Strike Down
Level 6: Form of the Tempest
    Level 8: Killer Instinct
    Level 11: Unstoppable (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Bullet Ballet (Rank 2, Not Without Incident)
    Level 17: Imbue (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Burst Shot (Taking Names)
Level 23: Dragon's Wrath (Tiger's Courage, Dragon Rush)
    Level 26: Retaliation (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 29: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 32: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 35: Thundering Return
Level 38: Execution Shot (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Adv. Points: 36/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6: Athletics (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Teleportation (Rank 2)

    Specializations
    Dexterity: Combat Training (2/3)
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (3/3)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (2/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
Brawler: The Glory of Battle (1/3)
    Brawler: Penetrating Strikes (2/2)
    Brawler: Ruthless (2/2)
    Brawler: Finishing Blow (2/3)
    Brawler: Flanking (3/3)
    Mastery: Warden Mastery (1/1)

Mainly giving you Rush on DW, to help w/ energy when using it (since it doesn't work w/ KI). If you want free adv points, you could take them from the AO, and you'll likely want to be in the Melee DPS role for this. Otherwise just made some small tweaks to the talents and specs.

For the 2nd build, I mainly prioritized ranking up the block enhancer and giving you the dmg shield adv on Bullet Hail (lowers the dmg a good bit, but is very good defensively). You can change the advs for Bullet Hail back, however, depending on what you want. Any of the 3 Mastery options could work here as well. Hopefully your energy is still fine in this setup, but adding Rush to DW can help w/ that either way. Could be played in the Hybrid or Tank roles, depending on your priorities.

This looks rather good. Is there anything like this with with a unarmed MA theme?

Unarmed and Muni? Yea, you could do that too, in a number of ways. Here's one:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Melee Damage)
    v3.42:34

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Predator (Str: 10, Dex: 10, Con: 8, Rec: 10)
    Level 6: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 15: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 18: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Gunslinger
Level 1: Burst Shot (Taking Names)
    Level 6: Killer Instinct
Level 8: Form of the Tempest
    Level 11: Unstoppable (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Bullet Ballet (Rank 2, Not Without Incident)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Burning Chi Fist (Righteous Fury)
    Level 23: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 26: Dragon Kick (Rank 2, Dragon Rush)
    Level 29: Parry (Rank 2)
    Level 32: Thunderbolt Lunge
    Level 35:
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 27/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6: Athletics (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Teleportation

    Specializations
    Dexterity: Combat Training (3/3)
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (2/3)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (2/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Warden Mastery (1/1)

The last few powers can be w/e ya want

BCF's RF adv can allow it to pull in enemies in a larger radius (when charged), for follow-ups w/ Dragon Kick (which can also give Rush, when charged) and Bullet Ballet. Burst Shot can be tapped to put up the AP debuff and Furious to help optimize Bullet Ballet's dmg vs. single-targets. Gears mostly for Dex, w/ some Con and Rec.

I was a bit unconvinced about the Killer Instinct. So I fiddeled with it a little. Thats what I ended up with:

    Level 12: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 18: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Gunslinger
Level 1: Burst Shot (Taking Names)
Level 6: Thundering Kicks (Demolishing Strikes)
Level 8: Form of the Tempest
    Level 11: Unstoppable (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Bullet Ballet (Rank 2, Not Without Incident, Accelerated Metabolism)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Burning Chi Fist (Rank 2, Rank 3, Accelerated Metabolism)
    Level 23: Power Conversion
    Level 26: Parry (Rank 2)
Level 29: Mighty Leap (Rampant, Nailed to the Ground)
    Level 32: Fiery Embrace
    Level 35: Chi Manipulation
Level 38: Bountiful Chi Resurgence (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Adv. Points: 36/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6: Athletics (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Flight (Rank 2, Rank 3)

    Specializations
    Dexterity: Combat Training (3/3)
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (2/3)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (2/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

    Devices

I know you do not like the BountifulChi Res because of the 10% less damage when it runs but I care more about staying "alive" then doing damage in one round.

KI helps you spam Bullet Ballet easily, and given the cost of the power its nice to have if that's the main attack of the build (esp considering that you can just use MA attacks w/ Rush to give them extra energy that way). I would generally only take Chi Manip over it if you don't plan on using Bullet Ballet heavily over the Unarmed stuff and aren't using Rush, and I don't know what sort of general 'rotation' you are going for here. I also generally would avoid getting Accel Metab advs- they have a shared internal cd and don't return much energy for most builds overall. If you still want to use BCF, then I'd get the Shattering adv on it if also putting up Demolish (and maybe also Ghostly Strikes, since BCF can put up Chi Flame innately, it would buff all BCFs past the initial one that puts up Chi Flame on the target).

Also: I don't dislike BCR, lol. It's a fine & cheap self-heal, for a HoT, and works esp well with MD and/or dodge-based builds. It's just that I don't by default recommend a heal w/ a significant dmg penalty to people w/o having more info from them (some players are fine w/ the penalties, and some aren't). You'd generally still want an Active Defense for the help they can provide in more challenging situations, regardless. The short-cd, smaller self-heals can be good for keeping you healthy through light-moderate incoming dmg, but ADs can be good for the large burst of help they can provide otherwise.
