Looking for advice with a dark/light toon

ragadolfragadolf Posts: 95 Arc User
As long as I'm here, and posting,
I'm looking for advice with my 'dark/light' toon, based on teh Yin/Yang concept.
He ended up being primarily a light/dark toon because that's what worked with the concept.
Here is what I have ATM.
https://aesica.net/co/herocreator.htm?v=34&n=Yin Yang A&d=168507IJLaYW0O00A0K000K203K705LB059E00LE059C00KB05M403M609OQ00MV04MW04LL0X0E4l04IM3UmT10000000000&e=

most of his powers are either dual purpose, (Celestial Conduit for heal/att, Life drain w/ adv for attack& area heal) or work together with another in concert (Radiant Sigils w/ transference paired with Sigils of Destruction)

He was basically built to run in Hybrid or support mode, healing in an area as he deals damage.
He is currently lvl 27, and is actually working pretty well, but is an energy hog. For some reason I can not get enough energy to keep doing anything without blocking a LOT, or using EB, also a LOT.

I know there's probably something simple I'm missing that could fix or at least help it easily, but I cant see it. :P

Any advice appreciated. Thanks in Advance,

Rags~

Overdrive isn't a very strong EU for non-PA toggle builds. You could maybe consider MSA w/ cds (and Int SS), or maybe SReverb if you can put up Fear easily (and Rec SS). You'd want an easy Fear apply for Lifedrain's adv anyways. Maybe get the Wisp in Infernal SN, since it can put up Illumination and Fear instantly (and in an AoE). I'd prob also ditch the pets and/or the sigils (at least some of them). I'd prob also use Compassion as the toggle.

Here's an example Light & Dark Hybrid/Support build:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Any / Multiple)
    v3.42:34

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Presence (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Witch (Con: 10, Int: 8, Pre: 10, Rec: 10)
Level 6: Lasting Impression (Pre: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 15: Shrug It Off (Con: 5, Pre: 5)
    Level 18: Prodigy (Pre: 5, End: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Shadow Bolt
    Level 1: Rebuke (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 6: Seraphim (Rank 2, Balance)
    Level 8: Compassion
    Level 11: Spirit Reverberation
Level 14: Will-o'-the-Wisp (Guide, Ghost Fire)
Level 17: Shadow Embrace (Rank 2, Draining Shadows)
Level 20: Conviction (Rank 2, Reverence)
Level 23: Lifedrain (Rank 2, Vampiric Sympathy)
Level 26: Ebon Void (Rank 2)
Level 29: Redemption (Rank 2, Salvation)
    Level 32: Ascension (Judgment)
    Level 35: Rebirth
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 32/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6: Power Flight
    Level 35: Tunneling

    Specializations
    Presence: Repurpose (3/3)
    Presence: Selfless Ally (2/2)
    Presence: Moment of Glory (3/3)
    Presence: Force of Will (2/2)
    Sentinel: Caregiver (3/3)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (3/3)
    Sentinel: Genesis (1/2)
    Overseer: Administer (3/3)
    Overseer: Ruthless (2/2)
    Overseer: Impact (2/2)
    Overseer: Honor (2/2)
    Overseer: Conservation (1/2)
    Mastery: Presence Mastery (1/1)

Rebuke can be a long-ranged nuke and heal, while SEmbrace can be an AoE attack and a self-heal w/ the adv. LDrain can heal allies around you, while dealing a bit of dmg, and the Wisp should be kept up for its buffs and debuffs. Ascension's adv can also work w/ the Wisp's Guide adv for some burst healing. Gears mostly for Pres, w/ some Con and Rec.

I had a build concept similar to this with both Pets. In the end, I ditched them - partly because my concept was weird non-humanoid fallen angel, so the angel pet just didnt work since it was so humanoid. My approach is more DPS and support, so I don't think it would necessarily be as good for endgame support as flow's.

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Any / Multiple)
    v3.42:34

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Presence (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Powers
    Level 1: Radiance
Level 1: Vengeance (Rank 2, Redemption Denied)
    Level 6: Seraphim (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 8: Spirit Reverberation
    Level 11: Fear Consumption
Level 14: Dimensional Collapse (Envelope in Darkness, Glimpse of the Abyss)
Level 17: Lifedrain (Rank 2, Vampiric Sympathy)
Level 20: Ebon Ruin (Rank 2, Paranormal Paranoia)
    Level 23: Iniquity (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 26: Compassion
Level 29: Ebon Rift (Vengeful Shadows, Endless Void)
Level 32: Redemption (Rank 2, Salvation)
Level 35: Ebon Void (Rank 2)
    Level 38: Fiery Embrace
    Adv. Points: 36/36

    Travel Powers
Level 6: Shadow Wings (Rank 2, Rank 3)

    Specializations
    Presence: Repurpose (3/3)
    Presence: Selfless Ally (2/2)
    Presence: Moment of Glory (3/3)
    Presence: Vulnerability (2/2)
    Sentinel: Eternal Spring (2/2)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (3/3)
    Sentinel: Wither (2/2)
    Overseer: Administer (3/3)
    Overseer: Ruthless (2/2)
    Overseer: Trapped (3/3)
    Overseer: Enhanced Gear (2/3)
    Mastery: Presence Mastery (1/1)

Ebon Rift can be replaced with whatever you want, I just find it fun. Between Ebon Ruin and Glimpse of the Abyss, Fear stacks up quite quickly. Vengance is the main AoE, and helps open up the vulnerability specs. It's not an early levelling build though.

It's much more energy friendly without the pets. Char isn't level 40 yet, so I think I might be temporarily using INT instead of CON just to make things even easier, but that may also be a hangover from when the pets were still there.

Thank you both for your observations and advice. (As always) :)

I never considered Vengeance or Rebuke as a replacement for Celestial Conduit. I'll have to check those out,

I know I'm a rarity, but I actually LIKE pets in CO for the most part. (Energy Hunger aside) And I have long tossed around the idea of an Angel on one shoulder, and a Devil on the other, and it fit this toon. :)
I suppose that Will O Wisp with both Adv would still fit the base concept. (Otherwise the only reliable way I had to apply Fear was my lvl 38 pwr w/ Adv) ;P

My decision for the sigils was, a Sigils of Destruction colored dark, and a Sigils of Radiant Sanctuary in bright (W/ Mystic Transference so you only get 2) is as close as I can get to making the Yin-Yang symbol appear as powers. :)

Many good ideas to consider. Thanks again!

    Flow, Question,

I had originally looked at and rejected Compassion as the Toggle, because with my build I was never sure I would be able to do enough healing to trigger it.
Compassion triggers off of ANY healing you do, yes? Not just to others? So for example Celestial Conduit would trigger it if used on a teammate, (obviously) but so would Life drain, and Shadow Embrace w/ Draining Shadows, yes?

(I suppose it is too much to hope that it will trigger off of the AoE healing effect from Seraphim?) :)

Yeah, Compassion can proc off of self-healing too, provided you're healing some dmg- just not w/ most passive aura effects anymore. Illumination's Mend can also proc it when attacking, so keeping that debuff up via the Wisp in my build can be handy (if you're not already using other heals or powers w/ self healing like SEmbrace w/ adv or LDrain, that is).
