Back Street Brawler Free Retcon Build

Alright I've been given a free retcon, and I can't decide between Might/Defiant, or an unarmed build. This is my version of the Back Alley Brawler from City of Heroes. BAB was super strength/Invulnerability. There's also the new changes to Might/Defiant. Right now BSB is lvl 20. If you wouldn't mind too much, I would like a build for both Might/Defiant and unarmed.

I wouldn't get Defiance in your case, cause Invuln is better at handling trash mobs for the type of content you do, and Invuln doesn't have a build up period. I also assume that you aren't trying make a proper tank build- just a hybrid-dps?

Anyways, it's up to you which sets you want to focus on, as you could make a street brawler out of multiple ones. This is easier for Might now that its basic combos can also knock for Enrage, but you don't have to go w/ Might either.

I think it'd be better at this point to ask what specific attacks would you'd like to include the most? .. say if you like their look or whatnot.

Alright, if using Haymaker then maybe just make it a normal Might build? 100Hands can't knock for Enrage, either way. If you want an example of a Might hybrid-dps build, here's a reference:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Hybrid)
    v3.4:33

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Strength (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Behemoth (Str: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Paramilitary Training (Str: 3, Con: 3, Rec: 3, End: 3)
    Level 9: Relentless (Str: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 15: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 18: Bodybuilder (Str: 5, End: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Clobber
Level 1: Beatdown (Blindside Blow, Reckless Endangerment)
    Level 6: Enrage
    Level 8: Invulnerability (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Pulverizer
    Level 14: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 17: Demolish (Rank 2, Below the Belt)
Level 20: Shockwave (Rank 2, Power Shift)
Level 23: Haymaker (Rank 2, Reckless Strikes)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 29: Mighty Leap (Nailed to the Ground)
    Level 32: Retaliation (Rank 2)
    Level 35: Fiery Embrace
Level 38: Unleashed Rage (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (2/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (3/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (1/3)
    Strength: Overpower (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Upper Hand (2/3)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Mastery: Strength Mastery (1/1)

For single-target dps, uses charged Demolish to put up its debuff, then uses a basic 1x Beatdown combo -> 3x charged Haymaker rotation. AoE dps can be done w/ Shockwave and Beatdown's cleave (and UR, when it's up). Gears mostly for Str, w/ some Con and Rec.

what if I go with defensive combo instead of beatdown ?

It's not ideal to replace Beatdown with it, cause Defensive Combo can't give you Reckless and Blindside to boost Haymaker w/ its adv. You can still use Defense Combo instead, but then you prob want to get R3 + its 1-pt knock adv, and get R3 on Haymaker. The 'rotation' would be different too: since Defense Combo wouldn't be boosting Haymaker anymore, you'd just go back to the old one of putting up Demolish and charging Haymaker in between, and Defense Combo would be used either when you wanted to play defensively and/or to followup on trash mobs after grouping them up w/ Shockwave.

If you find you don't use the self rez much, maybe add in a stun like Head Butt?

Drop Fiery Embrace and get Uppercut so you can refresh Demolish and apply Blindside Blow, and apply Reckless all in one power - really great power with lots of utility crammed into it. To get advantages for it I'd say pull points out of Shockwave and Retaliation. Uppercut > Demolish x2 > Haymaker would be your single target combo; completely lock things down while mashing huge hits into them.

Defensive Combo is a great choice for leveling. Paired with Invulnerability you're pretty much going to be invincible in the vast majority of situations you find yourself in.

This build with Spinny's addition seems really solid. Been a while since I had to respec a Might toon. Came back today and was forced to do that right away with the free respec lol
