The "Normal Guy" build

dialamxdialamx Posts: 931 Arc User
This idea is more just for fun and challenge, since it would be really difficult to do. It stems from a character I have who's not a hero and has no "powers". He's basically just a bumbling, average Joe, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and is now stuck being forced to fight crime for U.N.T.I.L., using stolen V.I.P.E.R. weapons.

What ideas would you guys have for a non-super-powered "normal guy" build. Like Peter from Deadpool 2.

For extra challenge, builds for melee only, ranged only, and mixed.

I'd prly just do a standard build w/ one of the sets that doesn't involve superpowers, e.g. munitions, PBR, or 3 of the 4 MA sets. If the idea is that they aren't supposed to be good at it, then I guess I'd stat them low or build around a weak attack.

Yea, I prob would just make it a Gadgeteering and/or Muni build. Maybe give him NW so he can try to stealth around enemies instead of picking fights, and give him a tech-based travel power like a hover disk that he's borrowed or found. You can tack on other gadgets that you think he/she has the basic understanding of how to use. In terms of stats, I'd prob avoid giving the build Con SS to give it more of a fragile feel, though it doesn't necc have to have weak stats overall (just for practical purposes). One example:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Ranged Damage)
    v3.34:32

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Intelligence (Primary)
    Level 10: Dexterity (Secondary)
    Level 15: Endurance (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Glacier (Dex: 8, Con: 10, Int: 10, End: 10)
Level 6: Covert Ops Training (Str: 3, Dex: 3, Con: 3, Int: 3)
    Level 9: Investigator (Int: 5, End: 5)
    Level 12: Coordinated (Dex: 5, Int: 5)
Level 15: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
Level 18: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
    Level 21: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Sonic Blaster
Level 1: Pulse Beam Rifle (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Concentration
Level 8: Night Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3, Silent Running)
Level 11: Experimental Burst Ray (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 14: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 17: Molecular Self-Assembly
Level 20: Entangling Mesh (Sapping Solution, Nailed to the Ground)
    Level 23: Cower (Run Away!)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 29: Energy Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 32: Imbue
    Level 35: Thundering Return
Level 38: Implosion Engine (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Adv. Points: 33/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6: Hover Disk
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Intelligence: Preparation (2/2)
    Intelligence: Enlightened (3/3)
    Intelligence: Detect Vulnerability (3/3)
    Intelligence: Expertise (2/2)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (3/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Intelligence Mastery (1/1)

Exp Burst Ray has a narrow AoE, but you can work around it a bit by adjusting your positioning (Implosion Engine can clump up enemies too, when its up). You can think of the self-res as something UNTIL gave him in the form of an automated resuscitation device. Mesh can help proc MSA and slow enemies down. Gears mostly for Int, w/ some Dex and End.
