I have no idea where to start..

So I played this game the first year it came out, then off and on over the years on subscription status because for me, it was more cost effective. Come to find out, subscriptions are a no go now and I can't really fork over the money at the moment for a Free Form slot. This oddly was a good thing because I have found I know nothing about how to play the game anymore anyway so my old builds likely would be hard to play at this point. (several max level) so I think I will start with one of the free AT's they have until I feel comfortable messing with my other characters again. So my question is, which is one of the better solo AT's these days? Any guide I find for them is from like 2010 0r 2013. Has much changed since then with them?
