Nemesis
  • All Nemesis now have standardized passives that grant damage bonuses and resistances. They also grant a stack of a form buff for power interaction purposes. This has been done to normalize Nemesis difficulty.
  • All Nemesis now have a block power that they can start using at low health.
  • Force Field Nemesis: Now has a power that applies a shield on them.
  • Infernal Nemesis: Now has a lesser version of Pestilence called Cloud of Flies.
  • Bestial Nemesis: Bite and Thrash power now more reliably heal them. Will no longer get stuck in a Frenzy attack loop.




Destroyer's Factory
  • Due to some issues with this lair, we are going to be temporarily disabling players from entering it. Stay tuned, it will be back up and running soon with new rewards!




UI
  • Powers that have fixed cooldowns (Eruption device, for example) now display a numeric timer when on cooldown.
  • Loading screens when loading into the game will now pick a random backdrop to display.




Misc
  • Added a conversion store to the Fixer vendor that will give players who owned the old versions of the Rainbow, Null and Shadow kitten Action Figures the newer versions.
  • Added wing animation to Supernatural costume transform.
  • Added additional Regeneration Dummies in the Millennium City powerhouse.

    Powers
    Players with the following powers will receive a free respec, these respecs do not stack if you had one previously: All Darkness powers, Ego Blade Pandemonium, Telekinesis, Dragon Claw, Dragon's Wrath, Lance Rain.



    Darkness Framework
    Shadow Embrace
    • This power's damage no longer escalates the longer you maintain it, instead it has a flat rate of damage.
    • Damage and cost has changed.
    • New Advantage (2): Heals you for a small amount for each target hit.




    Dark Transfusion
    • New Advantage (2): Increases base healing for your next direct heal, but makes you immune to heals briefly.




    Soul Vortex
    • Updated visuals.
    • No longer applies Fear innately, this has been moved to an advantage.
    • Increased pull effect.
    • The pull will now only target enemies outside of its damage radius.
    • The pull now scales with rank.
    • Fixed a bug where the Soul Drain advantage wasn't applying Dependency properly.
    • This power now leaves behind a healing rune once the Vortex expires.
    • Lowered power cooldown to 10 seconds (from 15).
    • New Advantage (2): Chance to apply fear to targets.




    Ebon Rift
    • Changed the damage on this power to be a flat rate.
    • Previously this power's damage scaled based on how close a target was to the center of the rift. This value wasn't represented accurately in the tooltip and overall caused targets to take on average less damage than what was being stated in the tooltip due to how the scaling worked.
    • The pull will now only target enemies outside of its damage radius.
    • The pull now scales with rank.
    • New Advantage (2): Chance to apply Bane to targets.
    • New Advantage (2): Applies Flashfire when partially maintained.




    Shadow Blast
    • This power no longer innately applies the Devoid debuff.
    • New Advantage (2): Applies the Devoid debuff on full charge. If the target is affected by Dimensional Collapse or Ebon Rift, applies this effect in a area around the target.
    • Known issue: This effect is currently not triggering properly against Ebon Rift.
    • New Advantage (2): Partially charging this power consumes all Summon Shadow pets around your target and heals you for each one consumed.




    Ebon Ruin
    • Increased base damage of power.
    • Cost has gone up for new damage value.
    • Removed the Despair effect from this power.
    • Added a Snare effect to this power when fully charged.
    • Removed Back to the Darkness advantage. This advantage has been moved to Shadow Blast.
    • Increased Nyctophobia advantage to 2 points, increased damage value to match up with other damage boosting advantages.
    • New Advantage (1): Using this power doubles the effectiveness of the Shadow Feast heal on Shadow Form.




    Shadow Shroud
    • New Advantage (2): Grants you a perception bonus.




    Shadow Eruption
    Consume Fear Advantage
    • Fixed a bug where this advantage did not consume the debuff.
    • Fixed a bug with the damage on this advantage was much lower than intended.




    Spirit Reverberation
    • This energy unlock now scales off of Recovery primarily.
    • Changed to apply energy over time to bring it in line with other recent energy unlocks.




    New Power: Dimensional Collapse
    • Damage over time. Knocks down targets.
    • Advantage (2): Knocks back instead of knocking down.
    • Advantage (2): Roots targets.
    • Advantage (2): Applies fear to targets on the initial hit. Has a small chance to apply fear again every time this power does damage.
    • Advantage (2): Refreshes the Devoid effect on the initial hit. Has a small chance to add a couple seconds onto the Devoid timer every time this power does damage.




    New Power: Madness Aura
    • Toggle Power.
    • Has a chance to apply fear to nearby targets.
    • While toggled on, nearby objects will either be flung at nearby enemies or explode where they are.
    • Exploded objects apply the Devoid debuff to targets.
    • This power uses your Presence to decide if you can lift an object.
    • Advantage (2): Instead of applying Fear, applies Bane instead.




    New Power: Shadow Manifestation
    • Ranged Damage Toggle Form
    • Scales with presence.




    Misc Power Changes
    Telekinesis
    • This power now deals a base amount of damage, and deals additional damage if any objects are thrown.
    • Outright defeats low ranking enemies if a Mass 7 object is thrown.
    • Disorients affected targets.
    • Knocks down primary target if a object of low mass is thrown.
    • Knocks back primary target is a object of high mass is thrown.
    • Stuns all targets if a object with high mass is thrown.
    • Increased cooldown to 5 seconds (from 0).
    • Cost and damage has changed.





    Bane Effect
    • Updated what effects the Bane effect can apply. Updated tooltips on powers that apply this.




    Forms
    • Fixed a bug where Form of the Tiger did not use its internal cooldown for stacking Focus.
    • Form of the Tiger and Form of the Tempest now require hitting a target to trigger their effects. Updated the tooltips for these powers.




    Dragon's Claw/Dragon's Wrath
    • Removed Dragon Rush from these powers and moved them to an advantage.
    • While it was stated in the past that we would only adjust these powers once their framework review had come around, due to the Dragon Rush effect causing balance issues we are choosing to move the effect to an advantage now.




    Bite
    • Fixed a bug where this power only healed for 1 stack of bleed.
    • Fixed a bug where this power would not heal if the target was affected by Deep Wound.
    • The heal on this power is now considered a life drain effect.



    Master of the Mind
    • Increased breakfree damage.
    • Increased Hold and knock resistance.




    Pulse Beam Rifle
    Finite Probability Engine Advantage
    • Unknown Side Effects effect: Updated the root this power applies to match the current Root effect.




    Sorcery Circles
    • Now have a set cost instead of using your Equilibrium.




    Lance Rain
    • Changed Activation time to 0.83 seconds (from 0.5).
    • Damage and cost has changed.
    • Increased cooldown to 20 seconds (from 0).
    • Increased area effect to 25ft (from 15).
    • New advantage: Knocks down and Roots targets.




    Ego Blade Pandemonium
    • This power can no longer critically hit.
    • The critical hit bonus this power grants for your other attacks now scales with rank.
    • Fixed a bug where the critical hit bonus on this power wasn't applying.
    • The critical hit bonus on this power now only applies to Telekinetic powers.
    • Leave a Mark advantage: Renamed to Menacing. Now applies threat based on how many stacks of Ego Leech on you when activating the power.




    Misc
    • Updated the way certain powers apply knock resistance. This should have no noticeable change to the power, they are just being updated to work the same way other powers do. Affected powers: Pounce, Rend and Tear, Uppercut, Support Drone Knockback Beam, Gravity Driver, Hurl (Stag Manimal device), Thrash (Bear Manimal device).



    New Power: Feral Rage
    • Bestial Supernatural Ultimate
    • Can be obtained in the Punk lockbox.
    • Active Ultimate.
    • Increases the base damage of all Bestial Supernatural abilities. This amount scales with the number of Enrage stacks you have.
    • Gives all of your Bestial Supernatural abilities a chance to apply Bleed based on the number of Enrage stacks on you.
    • Hitting targets affected by your Bleeds heals you.
    • Overrides your running speed. This effect can be removed by nailed to the ground.
    • Increases Hold and Knock resistance.
    • Places all active offense and defense powers on long cooldown.
    • Removes all form stacks on you once the effect ends.
    • Advantage (2): Aoe threat wipe. Puts you to sleep for a short time. The sleep cannot be broken out of.
    • Advantage (2): Increases threat based on your Enrage stacks.

    Looks good, looking forward to going darkness build :)

    Just as a heads-up, there are some people that have decided to not retcon darkness characters to they keep Ebon Ruin at R3 with the Nyctophobia adv. That probably should get addressed.

  • I love all these changes, excited for the revamp and lockbox. One thing though, form of the tempest had a bonus effect when ranking it where you had a small chance to gain an extra stack when you crit, was this removed intentionally?
    It says the only thing was changed is you can't stack it without hitting targets.

    Really disappointed with what Bestial got as an ultimate like this...
    I was expecting bestial to get a complete berserk ultimate with an insane attacking animation like Devastating Strike...
    Instead we got a Active offense/defense ultimate which only synergies with Bestial... well it got berserk stats for sure

    This patch appears to have caused some of the Winter Action Figure parts to become 'stuck' in the mailbox, so that you cannot take them from the mail. This appears to be new with this patch.

    You forgot about form of the master, it still can do exactly what you removed from the other forms. Form of the tempest could not stack focus with a pbaoe (out of combat). Maybe you have mistaken form of the tempest for form of the master? I mean.. oopsies do happen.


    P.S. the rank 2 and 3 advantage of form of the tempest (20%, 40% to gain an extra focus stack) is missing.

    Nemesis Feedback
    Nemesis don't appear to be able to build up their buff stacks past just one. Not sure if that's WAI - but they are very easily defeated now. At least it seemed so in during alerts. Personally, I'd suggest allowing at least three stacks of the buff to be built up. I noticed other players commenting in zone chat about this as well.

    Circles now always disappear if you move out of them, even if you move back in an instant later. Is this intended? I don't see it in the notes above. It used to be that if you got back into them quickly they stayed around. In the write up for the circles it still says that it costs half your equilibrium to summon them, though it does not say this in the mouse over tool tip. Also, the descriptions describe benefits if one is in the Sentinel role or Protector role. Should these say Support and Tank role instead?

    Suggestion
    Feral Rage
    The bonus damage in live is apparently 24% vs 30% bonus damage that was tested in PTS.
    The 30% increase in damage was ok considering this ultimate puts all your other AOs/ADs into 90s cooldown and consumes all your form stacks.
    If setting it back to 30% is out of the question, please consider either adding an increase in charge speed of Bestial Supernatural powers or a Cost Reduction in Bestial Supernatural powers while this Ultimate is active. After all, it IS considered to be an Ultimate, so it should perform better than normal AOs.

    I can comfirm this. The Circle disappear if you just walk out of the circle and walk back in, but the circle disappear.

    Question: What are the Radical Shoulders listed as part of the contents of the lockbox? I don't see an image of them anywhere and they haven't been for sale in the AH. Is this the same as the Radical Speakers? Typos or did something get left out?

    Ok to sum up this update

    We got an Urban Costume Lockbox, with a Bestial Ultimate, along with Darkness Revamp for Valentine's Day

    I was wondering about that too. I'm assuming 'Radical Shoulders' was mistakenly added to the list.

    It's an error. Radical shoulders were renamed to Radical speakers in the list, but the shoulder one wasn't taken out. It'll be removed next week from the tooltip.​​

    We did some fx changes on the dark powers, the auras likely shared the same fx. We'll look into it.​​

    Might be a tagging change on sentinel aura rather than a change to compassion, it's not clear that it's supposed to trigger compassion.

    Some bugs and stuff
    • Dark Transfusion's weird heal advantage (stated in this thread) isn't showing up (only R2/R3, blood sacrifice + AM are offered)
    • Dimensional Collapse's advantages: An "envelope" is a piece of paper, folded in such a way that other things can be place inside it. To "envelop" something is to cover it completely. *Puts an envelope in a lightless closet, creating an "envelope in darkness." Nitpicky I know, but still...

    And now, general thoughts/praise/criticism on various things:
    • A presence-based damage-dealing form? Neat...when can we expect the melee version? :D
    • Ebon Ruin: What's the purpose of having advantages that compete with Rank 3? Seems like it'd make a lot more sense to just base T3 "single target dps power" mechanics around this baseline, kind of like how Soul Beam works.
    • Along similar lines, why is Shadow Blast's Devoid now an advantage? Or more specifically, what is the purpose of putting what's supposed to be core mechanics for sets as optional advantages when the whole reason people will take that power is for that effect? CO is literally the only game I've ever seen where core mechanics for sets of abilities are presented as optional advantages. It's really weird, and frankly, kind of bad.
    • Soul Vortex: Yaay it's not baby-blue by default anymore, but...a healing rune instead of fear? This seems like it'd be far more suitable as an advantage. Finally, there was a dirty stealth-nerf at some point to this power's dependency advantage, where it no longer refreshes existing stacks. Given the tragedy that is Tornado Slash, I'm guessing this is intentional, but it really hurts this power's usefulness, as it is now the worst dependency applier in the game. In fact, Soul Vortex overall is now pretty bad. Please reevaluate this power. At the very least, the fear and rune should be swapped back (fear baseline, rune advantage). Reverting the dependency nerf would be nice as well because the nerf was completely unnecessary.
    • Dimensional Collapse is oddly good damage for a long-duration dot, and is reminiscent of Mental Storm. While I normally find refresh mechanics distasteful compared to advantages that apply the effect, this one could work due to the added leniency given by the occasional +2 seconds effect. I expect just about everyone who used Soul Vortex in the past will throw it in the dumpster in favor of this power.
    • Feral Rage removes all form stacks upon expiration as well as activating AO and AD cooldowns...and only works for bestial powers? Well there's one ultimate I can safely ignore, because no offense, but that's pretty bad. Get rid of the form stack dump and the AD cooldown for sure, and some benefit for other powers would be nice, too. Cross-framework synergy is actually pretty fun.

    Has Compassion been adjusted in this patch? There seems to be some conversation around Sentinel Aura no longer triggering Compassion?
    Might be a tagging change on sentinel aura rather than a change to compassion, it's not clear that it's supposed to trigger compassion.
    Literally all healing triggers Compassion though. The only real exception I'm aware of is Mend from Illuminated, but I suspect that's more a bug due to how Mend is applied than anything else.
    (Hopefully) Useful CO Resources: HeroCreator (character planner), Cosmic Timers/Alert Checklist, Blood Moon Map, Anniversary Cat Map, and more (eventually, anyway).

    Unrelated to the current patch notes, but I just noticed the Off Season Winter Event Store has not been updated. I was trying to link the Bunny Slippers to a friend but couldn't find them in there :P​​
  • So new loading screen artwork is great, but I keep crashing to desktop with .WTEX error messages because the game doesn't find the texture to load. I get these texture errors almost every month and i've reinstalled the game 3 times last year because of it, could devs maybe try looking into this problem sometime?

    So yeah, is the circle disappearing after stepping out of the circle is intentional or a bug? It kind of annoying when even the tiniest of push, knock up, or pull will despawn it.

    This power can no longer critically hit.
    The critical hit bonus this power grants for your other attacks now scales with rank.
    Fixed a bug where the critical hit bonus on this power wasn't applying.
    The critical hit bonus on this power now only applies to Telekinetic powers.
    Leave a Mark advantage: Renamed to Menacing. Now applies threat based on how many stacks of Ego Leech on you when activating the power.
    I knew the ultimate would be nerfed because people were abusing it on both DPS and Tank builds

    STILL GOOD ULTIMATE for melee TK Builds so whatever, not gonna get rid of it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    Lance Rain
    Changed Activation time to 0.83 seconds (from 0.5).
    Damage and cost has changed.
    Increased cooldown to 20 seconds (from 0).
    Increased area effect to 25ft (from 15).
    New advantage: Knocks down and Roots targets.

    I already expressed my dissatisfaction about the brutal 20 Seconds CD for this power during January.

    The power is still good on my DPS since it can deal whooping 12K Critical damage, but due to the CD it turned the power into Situational Alpha Strike

    but on my TANK build this power is completely useless, the build up is not worth the 4000 critical damage and the ADV is worthless.
    I deal more DPS with Telekinetic Barrage fully maintained than this

    Beyond theme there is no reason to keep this power in a tank and this hurts my soul

    Gotta love how the robot cowboys always interrupt me on the split of the nanosecond when i fully charge the power. Perfectly Timed.
    This just raised even more my suspicions that the game's AI is a cheating :grimace:​​

    The Radical Shorts on females clip with an awful lot of existing belts, limiting it's ability to be mix-and-matched quite a lot. It's a shame, since it's a very nice costume piece.
