What's the point of Energy Forms?

Hello, as the tittle say, why do some powers are tagged as that type of power? I know Force Cascade needs to consume them to reduce its energy cost by 50% but outside of that, I don't know any other interaction with these powers.

    Gigabolt also needed an Energy Form in order to be charged in the past.

    They removed the mechanic from that, because as any sane person would realize, having a powerset that literally gimps itself by cannibalizing its own main passive buff to its damage is really stupid, to the point that there's no way that charging Gigabolt was going to be even remotely worth the trouble compared to just tapping the attack, or just using Lightning Storm instead anyways because of its better DPS.

    I'm 100% sure by the time the dev team gets around to rebalancing Force, the concept of Energy Forms will be eradicated entirely.
