Devices

Here is how you use it:
Phase 1Pull

Before the pull
Switch to Hybrid role, with Invulnerability slotted.
Use Ego Storm a few times to get yourself up to at least 6 stacks of Manipulator.

How To Pull Le Doge

1. Activate Bionic Shielding
2. Run towards the dogs until close enough to aggro.
3. Immediately activate Masterful Dodge and then hold block.
4. When dogs are about to be bunched up around you activate Ego Storm ( you want to activate it before they actually get to you so they walk into it )
5. Wait for Ego Storm to finish its duration and then use a full charged Ego Sleep on the central-most dog in the pack.

Doge Pull Method 2
1. Activate Bionic Shielding
2. Run towards the dogs until they notice you
3. Activate Masterful Dodge and hold block
4. Once dogs are nicely gather around you tap TK Maelstrom
5. Sleep

Notes
- In Phase 1 don't use Ego sprites on the dogs, it will make it harder for the tank to pull dogs off of you. In phase 2 start splashing ego sprites as soon as Kiga no longer has aggro on you.
- In phase 2 Kiga will be blasting you, so you'll want a healing item ready. A healer will likely start healing you once the dogs are held, but before that you'll need to heal yourself to avoid having the healer pull the dogs away.
- Keep your camera facing up at Kiga so you can see when he is about to toss a frozen nuke at you so you can block before it hits you

CC ROTATION
Now that you have gotten the initial Ego Sleep onto the dogs you will begin the actual rotation of holds. This process is very simple.
  • IF dogs are Slept, then apply Mental Storm when the duration of Sleep is at less than 10 seconds.
  • IF dogs are Paralyzed, then apply Ego Sleep when the duration of the Paralyze is at less than 10 seconds.

Just do this back and forth for the duration of the fight and the dogs will never break out of holds. This rotation is not aggro sensitive, meaning it will continue to work even if the dog's aggro gets buggy.

Alternate CC Rotation
This is another rotation you can use that is a bit less range-sensitive. If the dogs look like they might be too spread out for Mental Storm, since it has 5 less radius than Ego Sleep, this rotation will work.

-At any point while the dogs do not have stacks of Hold Resist on them perform a full charged Ego Maelstrom.
-Apply Ego Sleep.

I've noticed that full charge Ego Maelstroms don't generally have the issue of the dogs having a brief moment of not being held for whatever reason.

Eido
  • Top priority during Eido for you is keeping Ego Leech stacked for that 100% stun chance with TK Barrage - TK Shards helps immensely with this.
  • When red orbs appear, do a quick tap on each orb to stun them - all it takes is a quick tap, you don't have to maintain it more than a fraction of a second
  • During red orbs don't forget to keep your Ego Leech stacked.
  • During red orbs tab between the orbs to keep track of their stun durations
  • TK Maelstrom is for those rare times when a bunch of reds spawn close enough that it will hit them all, so you can take the opportunity and stun multiple orbs even faster
  • When orbs aren't up spam paralyze and sleep and stun either on Eido, or portals, or green orbs - the damage buffs from specializations keep you useful to the group.

Ape
Ape is fairly simple with this build. What you're gonna do with it depends primarily on if you have a Psionic Accelerator device.

I don't have a Psionic Accelerator :(
  1. Use Mental Storm on the first heart ( one of the sides ), charging it while moving towards the middle heart.
  2. Tag middle heart with Sleep
  3. Make your way over to the third heart and drop Ego Storm on it ( you won't have Sleep or MStorm ready yet )
  4. When Ego Storm ends, tag the heart you're at with Ego Sleep
  5. ( Around this time Ape will do his aoe, the one here he does not summon new hearts )
  6. Make your way back to the first heart and hit it with Ego Sleep
  7. All three hearts now have nice long Ego Sleeps on them and you have a bit before the next set.

I do have a Psionic Accelerator! :D
  1. Use Mental Storm on the first heart ( one of the sides ), charging it while moving towards the middle heart.
  2. Tag the middle heart with Sleep
  3. Tag the last heart with Psionic Accelerator.
  4. Tag the two side hearts with Ego Sleep in any order.
  5. All three hearts now have nice long Ego Sleeps on them and you have a bit before the next set.

CC Spec Debuffs

Vulnerability Wither, and Trapped.

These three debuffs together drop a target's damage resistance by ~30%. The amount is less on Cosmics ( though I hear it's pretty stellar on green orbs in Eido ). This build doesn't do a lot of damage on its own, but it can improve everyone else's damage output by slathering these debuffs on everything.

Note the various types of crowd control that proc these things. The only one that all 3 have in common is Paralyze. 2 have Sleep in common. Only one is applied by Stun. With Mental Storm and a Psionic Accelerator you can get a pretty solid rotation going, with TK Barrage spammed in between.

Note that Wither is only in effect while the target is actually effected by Paralyze, Stun, or Sleep - if one of these is not actually on the target then they won't take the extra damage. The other two will actually apply their damage debuff to the target even if they weren't actually Held. This makes Wither the least reliable of the debuffs - however there's 2 things to keep in mind here. 1) Wither is the only one applied by Stun. 2) From what I've seen even cosmics will have the stun debuff on them for a short moment before it gets wiped off, so if you spam TK Barrage on then you might at least get the buff to increase some attacks ( something is better than nothing right? ).

    5. TK Maelstrom
    6. Apply Ego Sleep
    7. Apply 2x Ego Sprites
    8. Spam Ego Placate to build Manipulator stacks
    9. When Ego Sleep duration is lower than 10 seconds, apply Mental Storm
    10. When Mental Storm duration is lower than 10 seconds, apply Ego Sleep
    11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 until fight ends. Use Ego Placate to renew Manipulator stacks, apply Ego Sprites after Ego Sleep. You shouldn't have any problems keeping yourself healed.

I have problems keeping the holds going. I alternated between Grasping Shadows and Mental Storm, but if I applied the second hold too soon, the dogs simply woke up. When this happens, the dogs never receive the Hold Resist icon, either.

    Have you seen this?

P.S. By the way, thanks for helping me with my build, Spinny. It's worth noting that though the build is solid, it does require significant skill to play.

I'm worried that devs would change something with Kiga fight again to make solo dog tanking impossible. I don't think they intended for only one player to tank all the dogs.

Interesting. I'd have to see it in action to be sure, but my theory is that both the holds apply a base type of Paralyze which would mean that casting one when the other is still on means that the new one just isn't applied. Like with Ego Sleep, if I cast it on a target that already has Ego Sleep on it, the new Ego Sleep won't be applied - the weird part is that when you do it the dogs just wake up.

I'm worried that devs would change something with Kiga fight again to make solo dog tanking impossible. I don't think they intended for only one player to tank all the dogs.

They intended it. Kaiserin actually told us about CCing the dogs like this when the cosmics were on PTS, so it is an intended method. CC tanking is the riskier alternative, while the 4 tanks/4 healers method is the safer but more manpower intensive alternative.

Hard to say. At this point, the specialists you want for Kiga (tank x2-3, healer x2-3, crowd control) and the ones you want for Qwyjibo (tank x2-3, healer x2-3, crowd control) are the same, so the fights feel pretty comparable.

    What makes you so sure?

You pretty much have to dedicate an entire character to the task. Even then the whole thing is pretty precarious as evidenced by the wipes. But I much prefer wipes to all the waiting to get 6 tanks and 5 healers into the zone. Overall, the expectation is that a coordinated group of 20 players should be able to take down a Cosmic.

Given Frost Tomb HP, right now, you need ~8 extremely high DPSers or ~16 medium-high DPSers. You also need 1 Control Tank + 2 Healers + 2 Kiga Tanks.

So you need about 15 players that are ridiculously super specialized. Or you can do it with 20 well coordinated players that have good builds. Or you can do it with 30 well coordinated players that don't have good builds.

Actually, it is operating as intended, we have that information from the source. Now, that's not to say they won't change their mind later, but this is the way it was built to work.

I can see it being intended, yeah.

Dasher@Tool-box, donning his armor to prance into battle and blitz the enemy! No joke!
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!

Thanks for this. More folks continue to learn dog CCing, and these builds work nicely with the Ape, too.

I assume the dog CC build works for Eido, but I've never been on an orb CC run.

Final note: you can CC the probes in Cybermind. If you can get a team to listen to you, the probe phase of Cybermind really becomes a joke if you can CC all but one of the orbs.

    That's true, just don't CC the walls during the dps check cause apparently that makes them invulnerable to damage o_O;

I think that's actually caused by telepathic reverb, so be wary about disorient as well.

I still have a hard time convincing folks about how the heal buff works. So many believe that attacking black walls heals everything in the room.

That's what I've believed since that alert came out. I've heard it dozens and dozens of times over the years and I've repeated it myself. I don't know where it came from, but it has been a long-held belief by a lot of people. It was only a few months ago that Roughbear pointed out that it was wrong.

The odd thing is, it seemed to work. I mean, I've done that alert dozens, if not hundreds, of times, and it always seemed that if you stood there and did not hit any walls, the damaged wall would not regen.

So I recently found out I don't need Mind Lock at all ( hence I removed it from both the core build and the full build ). So why is this? Well as it turns out if you use Ego Sleep on something that's slept, nothing actually happens to the target - it just counts for building Manipulator. Same with Mental Storm - use it on a Mental Stormed target ( possibly any Paralyzed target ) and it just builds/refreshes Manipulator. So I removed Mind Lock and now I just use Mental Storm, Ego Sleep and Ego Storm to keep Manipulator stacked while CCing dogs.

Okay, I have to go test this, now, because I am pretty sure that is not how it was working for me before. I thought adding Sleep on top of Sleep, etc, would kick in a hold resist stack. If it works the way you described, heck, that is going to make Dog Snoozing WAY easier. Usually I just let my Manip stacks drop. It does mean I have to reapply more often, but that is not really a big deal. EDIT: I just tried this and it works! HOLY COW.

Currently, I use the Stun - Sleep method, which I like a lot. Mental Storm's AOE is so small, I have had trouble in the past getting all 3 dogs in it, even when they look like they are.

This build can mostly perma-hold entire mob groups for QWZ dailies ( multiple groups at once if you're adventurous ).

Can you kill them while perma-holding, or do you need a DPSer with you?

Also, I have noticed that the boss level mob in each group seems to be immune to most CCing. Usually, this isn't an issue for me, except with the Substantiators when they summon those d*** 3 Mind Worms. Is this just me? Can you get the Substantiators and the other boss-levels in groups CCed?

No need for a dpser. It's not like holding kiga dogs, it's a lot more aggressive. You can layer stuff to get more damage going at once and by the time anything actually has 3 stacks of hold resist most of the group is dead. One tactic is to sleep the whole group, ego sprite everything, then quickly pick off the weakest mobs, then just lay into everything else with ego storm, mental storm, and TK barrage. Not as fast as my dpsers, but way safer.

The multiple groups thing is more like dog-CCing, though you can accelerate it by breaking sleep early with ego storm. It's more of a thing if you really wanna test yourself and see how many groups you can get going at once for lulz.

Substantiators can definitely be CC'd; in fact they're my first target to prevent those nasty little worms from ever being summoned. Even if they do manage to summon them, then I just CC the worms themselves and let them heal me via Sentinal Mastery.

The only mobs in QWZ that are CC immune are the High Annelids, the Dark Disciples and the Nightmare Demolisher. Nothing is CC immune in the destroid area.
