Particle Riffle DPS Build?

criswolf09criswolf09 Posts: 759 Arc User
I know Gadgets hasn't been updated yet but I'd to try a simple build with Particle Riffle. Can someone suggest me one please?

Well, if you can get w/in 50ft, then you can tap Chest Beam for Burn Through to further boost PBR channels. Chest Beam is a bit costly, but w/ PBR's current low cost it prob shouldn't matter much.

Yea, Plasma Burn doesn't innately lower enemy resistance either.

Orbital Cannon is acting weird atm. In theory, its PBurn stack(s) should be able to interact w/ Particle Smash to put up Dinsintegrate that way. But its really buggy right now and the only way for that to work atm is to use R1, and then it only does dmg and applies PBurn around *you* (not the target area). R2 and R3 don't seem to apply PBurn on the initial hit at all. Anvil of Dawn's PBurn stacks also don't work w/ that combo, and prob cause the Anvil is considered a separate entity.

Imo, its much easier to just tap Chest Beam to get a Particle debuff that way, since you save a power slot, and PSmash has a 25ft range limit anyways.

I usually take the "Finite Improbability Engine" advantage on PBR. Which I guess is a matter of taste. It boosts the crit chance and regularly applies a nice series of debuffs.

You just want DPS with Particle Beam Rifle?

Stack DEX with just a bit of EGO for CritD. Experimental Burst Ray is entirely optional. You shouldn't even need an energy unlock with this one.

Although the random debuffs can have some utility, I usually would take the extra base dmg form the normal rank. On the PTS, a quick parse shows R3 at about 30% higher dps than the FIE adv for me (the DoTs from FIE are only about 1-2% of its dmg), prob cause one or two of the debuffs increase (not lower) the target's dmgRes.

I find it amusing a Build request for this popped up while I'm finishing leveling a proper Pulse Beam Rifle DPS myself

Using Bullet Hail as AoE myself for the theme due to the current state of Gadgets

The Random Buffs which Increase enemies' resistance are pretty anti-productive though so I would also suggest going full Rank 3 and ignore the ADV, especially for endgame bosses like Eidolon where damage debuffs for Orbs are Critical

Why use the old, not-been-up-dated-in-a-couple-years powerhouse? This is more up to date http://aesica.net/co/herocreator.htm

My PBR guy uses Orbital Cannon for an opening shot. After it lands you can pile on with PBR as well.

I would go with Orbital Cannon as well, but with Quantum Stabiliser as the Passive and Unified Theory as the Energy Unlock. Orbital Cannon applies Plasma Burn which debuffs vs Particle Damage and generates Energy with Unified Theory. Pulse Beam Rifle's Energy cost is so low you probably don't need anything else...

You are correct that Orbital Cannon applies Plasma Burn (Particle Dmg DoT), but the requirement of Chest Beam to apply Burn Through (-12% resist vs Crushing/Particle Dmg) or Lightspeed Strike w/Particle Acceleration to apply Disintegrate (-12% resist vs Particle Dmg and -6% vs Energy Dmg) are the only ways to debuff an enemy resistance.

I would stack ego or intel. Not dex. Intel is great for cosmics. But outside of cosmics u will do less then ego. But oversll stcking ego will do very well . Especially if a healer with aopm is present. Ego over dexterity for sure. Chilled form and targeting computer.

A solid aoe i use is strafing run..a solid heavy dot . Good for dps checks at cosmics as well. Fast recharge also. U can almost keep popping it.
