PETITION: Solutions to the loss of subscription

To the Developers/PWE - You've made a significant change to Champions Online with the sudden removal of subscription status which is a clear motive to force your previously loyal and contributing customers into paying more money for either Lifetime or paying for individual Archetypes. As a returning player who has subbed for over 600 days since launch I was disappointed to learn that a huge wall had been put up that would prevent me from customising my characters in the way that I had over many years. I like many others can't afford to continually sub to all games but I would always come back for a few months. The motivation for this change is clearly intended to force people towards paying more than they have already to attain the full enjoyment from this game but this isn't acceptable - You are only hurting those who have helped to keep this game alive for so many years, the paying customers.

Where was the loyalty reward to those who have previously subscribed? A few free FreeForm slots at least would have been some form of compensation - yes the new pack adds a sparse few welcome additions but you've truly screwed over your playerbase.

My suggestions therefore are as follows:

1) Reward a minimum of 2-3 FF slots to previous subscribers
2) Reduce the cost of all Archetypes significantly (you cannot expect your player base to pay so much for Archetypes)
3) Increase the available Archetypes by at least another 5 for previous subscribers OR allow previous subscribers to select 5 to unlock
4) Allow previous Gold members to convert all characters to Archetypes for free (You currently can't if you've converted before which means we have to pay even more money for a token)
5) Reduce the cost of Lifetime - You clearly want to suck more money out of people so let's get realistic with the age, 'development' and lastability of this game. It isn't worth the current cost and you aren't pushing enough new content (if at all) to justify such a price tag.

I ask that you take these suggestions onboard, and ask that other players support this or offer their own solutions.

If you are like me and have already spent money on this game you will understand the frustration. Please support this petition to try and make some sort of difference (whether listened to or not)

    Just pretend that you decided to never renew your sub. Now you're in a situation where buying a FF slot gets you a level 40 FF character. People who never subbed don't have that. That's a 70 dollar value for just 30 bucks, 15 on sale. Well, assuming your characters were all level 40. If they're not then that 70 shrinks back down towards 30 depending on what level they are, but so long as they're 30+ it's at least a 50 dollar value, any levels below that are some other value between 30 and 50.

    Now, why am I giving you this advice? Because we discussed everything you suggested while the changes were actually in the discussion phase. All of this was brought up, and none of it was implemented. It is what it is now. Could have been much worse.​​

    Thanks for the advice - I appreciate this may have been discussed but it's not acceptable. We shouldn't just sit back and accept it, we should make a lot more noise rather than say that "It could have been worse" and let it be that. I along with many others have potentially spent 100's on this game, and it's not acceptable at least to have characters locked out completely (if you have no spare tokens to convert them to an Archetype, that's their resources/inventory/aura's you cannot access).

    There was plenty of noise made, probably more noise than I've seen about any change this game has ever seen. Fact is, they did what they could do. Originally they were going to axe subs without even having any way available to convert slots and add that later, if at all. People made a whole lot of noise, so they delayed that until the conversion method was available. In response to that noise they also lowered the cost of FF slots and Character slots dramatically. They also had a 66% off LTS sale immediately.

    You can say "we should make a lot more noise rather than say that 'It could have been worse' and let it be that", but this already happened. The noise happened, and we got something for it. We actually got a lot for it, more than we thought we would. I mean hey go ahead with your thing here, nobody can stop you. I'm just letting you know what happened.

    As for the 100s you spent on the game. Keep in mind that your Sub fee was you paying for a rental, and so you got what you paid for. Hell, as a returning player that means you didn't even have an ongoing sub so it's not like you were put in the position of "keep your sub up permanently or lose it".

    As far as your protest, keep in mind that the devs have no power in this, and the PWE execs are no longer paying attention.​​

    Also as a former sub you get that bundle thingy free. You might need to create a new AT character to claim it though, not really sure.

    Just budget it out over time, so that you pick up an FF slot when you can, and slowly recover the characters, or; you can wait for another nice LTS sale.
