No Direction Pointer

The direction pointer vanishes while using wild speed. Any idea for a fix?

Do you mean the quest pointer? I have had similar issues where it will disappear when I do stuff like enter a vehicle.

I remember back in my day... we had to figure out where we were going, actually learn the terrain of our MMORPGs. If we wanted a map we couldn't jut press a button! No sir, we had to search online for one scribed by a fellow explorer. Sometimes they were just some squiggly lines with an "X". Often we would actually print them out (usually in black and white, colour was expensive) And way points? We didn't have any stinking way points!

We traveled, we explored, we got lost (a lot)... and we liked it that way dammit!

    ;)

All from a point of nostalgic jest mind you... but I did prefer not having way points to lead me everywhere I needed to go.

Back in the day ... my computer was a rock. And my monitor was ... a rock. Oh, the fun we ... oh yeah ... I had.

On a more serious note this happens with the teleport powers and the tunneling powers also. Is it a bug? Or is it some limitation with the engine? I don't know... just always struck me as odd but I never gave it much consideration when I was playing with those powers other than to note its oddness.

I actually thought that made it more realistic. :D

There are pointers in your minimap compass.

Maybe marking the quest as primary again will cause the indicator to reappear.

I believe that the direction pointer is treated internally as an aura on your character, so anything that suppresses auras will also suppress the direction pointer.

Thank you. That is a very good possibility. :D

You can also call up the map, find the mission marker, mouse over it, and click. This will put a red "x" at the click location (also works on mini-map). Then you follow the "x" on your mini-map compass.

Yes, I understand the whole routine with the map. The point of the pointer ( Heh. ) is to make it so you do not have to look at the map. :p

Sometimes pointers also lead you to weird bugs, like the one from the first Nightmare invasion where there was a duplicate of Golden Seraph on top of a building in Downtown.

For clarification, the pointer is how people found the duplicate. The NI dailies will give you a pointer to return to Golden Seraph. but when there was TWO of Golden Seraph on the map it pointed to whichever was closest to you. Most parts of the city pointed to the one that was supposed to be there. If you were in the eastern part of the downtown area, it pointed to the duplicate.
