Implement Open Mission Score Reduction over Time.

The open mission reward threshold was implemented to reduce leeching. It works only on two points: Nobody wants to wait around to see when an OM might end and then just jump in at the last minute, and people can't gain rewards with low level or gimped builds. This was a big thing in the past with leechers - just wait until the fight was almost over then hop in and get rewards or bring a low level for some free xp.

HOWEVER, this ignores the other side of leeching. With a threshold, you can just hop into the fight and if it isn't going well or you think you have reached the threshold for rewards then you can just go afk. Wait until the fight is over and collect your rewards.

Therefore, as the fight goes on your score should constantly be getting reduced while you are no longer scoring.

If you want to go afk, that's fine. But have the decency of swapping zones or going somewhere else so the fight doesn't scale up because of your presence. If you decide to stop participating because the encounter is "taking to long", when you come back your score should read "0" because you no longer were a factor in the OM and thus deserve none of the rewards.

Obviously how fast and what conditions your score ticks down by should be tinkered with, but it will keep those who decide to exploit the threshold from collecting rewards for a fight in which they were not part of the reason it was completed.

Are there really so many d-bags around that a Cosmic being defeated pivots on their absence? Some people are just jerks and engaging in a never ending battle against a few persistent leechers is a waste of dev time.

I suggested this at one point but with the caveat that there is a threshold after which you still get rewards even if you step out. i.e. if you're slogging away at a Cosmic for 30 minutes I think you've put in the time and deserve rewards, even if you want to stand aside for the next 30. Someone in that position isn't a leecher, not by a long shot.

To be honest, most people who get their 100k score and then head off to idle are more useful idle than playing, the range at which scaling occurs is not a lot larger than the attack radius of critter powers, so they usually wind up not scaling the fight. They do, of course, still take up space in a zone.

Sometimes, but sure not always. For me, this isn't even a question of fairness.

The issue is more one of "are you gaining at the expense of others? " I would say that because zone limit causes space to be at a premium, yes. When a zone struggles because they can't get the right people in due to 5 people going afk, yes you are being detrimental.
