Need a help to build a full dmg Ranged dps.

Hello everyone.

I am trying to find a full dmg ranged dps build for my friend, so that we can have 1 heal 1 tank 1 dps. We all new players, we both have gold permit. he has more experience with role play games than me and other. so he wants to play as a full DPS, but I really don't know what type dps has highest dmg in this game. electricity? or fire or what else? . Would some one help us on this please ?

Thanks,

Revamped Fire is one of the highest ranged dps sets now, though it has to be in 50ft and generally uses more powers for it, while Elec can get high dps from upto 100ft away and w/o as many powers.

For ref, here's a pretty standard Elec dps build:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform
    v2.3.2-28

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Ego (Primary)
    Level 10: Endurance (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Scourge (Con: 10, Ego: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Ascetic (Con: 5, Ego: 5)
Level 9: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
    Level 12: Daredevil (Ego: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Worldly (Ego: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 21: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Electric Bolt
Level 1: Chain Lightning (Rank 2, Lightning Helix, Superconductor)
    Level 6: Ionic Reverberation
Level 8: Electric Form (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Concentration
Level 14: Ball Lightning (Rank 2, Triplicity, Supercharged)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Lightning Storm (Rank 2, Stolen Thunder)
Level 23: Lightning Arc (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 29: Electric Shield (Rank 2)
    Level 32: Lock N Load (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Blinding Light
    Level 38: Rebirth
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Ego: Force of Will (2/2)
    Ego: Insight (3/3)
    Ego: Follow Through (3/3)
    Ego: Sixth Sense (2/3)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Ego Mastery (1/1)

For single target dps, it puts up Negative Ions via Ball Lit and/or Chain Lit, puts up Superconductor via Chain Lit on targets w/ NI on them, and from there on it just channels LArc while using Ball Lit on cd to refresh debuffs. For AoE you can mostly just use Ball Lit and spam Lightning Storm. Gears mostly for Ego, w/ some Con and End/Rec.

    That call PA Tank ?

Its not really your thread/topic, but sure I can give you a PA tank build. I prob wouldn't take a normal slotted PA build for a new player cause its one of the harder sets to play properly (juggling 2-3 toggles at once w/ very high energy use). You can use non-slotted PA, though- which is easier to manage:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform
    v2.3.2-28

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Constitution (Primary)
    Level 10: Intelligence (Secondary)
    Level 15: Endurance (Secondary)

    Talents
Level 1: The Cybernetic Warrior (Con: 10, Int: 10, Rec: 8, End: 10)
Level 6: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
Level 9: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
    Level 12: Investigator (Int: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Negotiator (Int: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 21: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Power Bolts
Level 1: Tactical Missiles (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
    Level 6: Invulnerability (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 8: Concentration
Level 11: Chest Beam (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
    Level 14: Unified Theory
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Particle Wave (Illuminate, Bad Footing, Challenge!)
Level 23: Rocket Punch (Rank 2, Grasping Hand, Challenge!)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 29: Energy Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 32: Masterful Dodge
    Level 35: Imbue
    Level 38: Rebirth
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Constitution: Unyielding (1/2)
    Constitution: Fuel My Fire (3/3)
    Constitution: Resilient (2/2)
    Constitution: Adrenaline Rush (2/2)
    Constitution: Armored (2/2)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Constitution Mastery (1/1)

Particle Wave can clump up enemies in front of you for follow-ups w/ Rocket Punch and/or Chest Beam. Both Particle Wave and Chest Beam can also proc the EU (Unified Theory) for extra energy. For single-targets (and boss fights), you want to debuff w/ Chest Beam's Burn Through and switch between charging it and Tac Missiles, depending on your energy (Chest Beam is higher dps/threat, but takes quite more energy to use). The spare adv points should prob be used to rank up a travel power.

Otherwise, the build has a buncha defensive moves and heals to help keep you alive in various ways. Gears mostly for Con and Int, w/ some End and Rec to help w/ energy.

Thank you, so much. I will open a new thread for it, will you help me with a normal slotted PA build, I had some experience with WOW and Tera. I'd like some challenge XD
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,742 Arc User
Okay.. if you want a slotted PA build, then here's one. No need to make a new thread at this point I guess:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform
    v2.3.2-28

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Constitution (Primary)
    Level 10: Intelligence (Secondary)
    Level 15: Endurance (Secondary)

    Talents
Level 1: The Cybernetic Warrior (Con: 10, Int: 10, Rec: 8, End: 10)
Level 6: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
Level 9: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
    Level 12: Investigator (Int: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Negotiator (Int: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 21: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Power Bolts
Level 1: Mini Gun (Rank 2, U-238 Rounds, Challenge!)
    Level 6: Concentration
    Level 8: Defiance
    Level 11: Overdrive
Level 14: Micro Munitions (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
Level 17: Reconstruction Circuits (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Dual Wrist Rocket Barrage (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
    Level 23: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 26: Energy Shield (Rank 2, Phalanx Defense System)
    Level 29: Masterful Dodge
Level 32: Circle of Arcane Power (Rank 2)
Level 35: Circle of Primal Dominion (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 38: Lock N Load (Rank 2)
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Constitution: Unyielding (1/2)
    Constitution: Fuel My Fire (3/3)
    Constitution: Resilient (2/2)
    Constitution: Adrenaline Rush (2/2)
    Constitution: Armored (2/2)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Constitution Mastery (1/1)

Micro Muni + Minigun is good for AoE, and Minigun + Rocket Barrage is good for single targets (though if you have the extra energy for the 3rd slot attack then go for it). Recon Circuits can be used in the Chest slot when you need the extra background healing, regardless. When you can plant yourself down in a place (like when facing a boss), you can also pick between the Sorc circle depending on the situation: CoAP for the extra energy to have all 3 toggles running for max dps/threat, and CoPD if you want to turtle up and play more defensively. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some Int and End/Rec.

Hello, thanks for the build, I forward this to my friend, when he lvl 20 he said the spec was different, its call arbiter. how does he change it ?
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,742 Arc User
Assuming he is using a Freeform, you should be able to select the diff specs w/ the right and left yellow arrows on the side of the panel- assuming the next spec is unlocked and you haven't spent any points in it yet. It goes in alphabetical order, so I think Arbiter is listed first. If you've already set points and want to re-do the specs (and superstats) then you can re-train those in the Powerhouse, though for a price.

Yeah, he reset the stat and we find out it could be change. Thx. Also what's is the best melee dps? dual blade good? or TK melee better? would you recommend me a one and share me a high build please?
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,742 Arc User
There's many high-dps melee sets out there now. I'm actually unsure which is the best atm. Although Dual Blades is good, TK blades is very strong too. Since I've already given a DB build recently in other threads I'll give a TK blade one here:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform
    v2.3.2-28

Thanks for the build, would you please forward me the link of dual blade build so that I can take look by myself? also what is the best type of tank and build any recommend? I have 2 ff characters, I want to have a melee dps and a tank but I don't know what type tank is better.

well, I feel a bit bad continuing cause you've kinda taken over this guy's thread.. could I ask this be your last request in this thread?

    DB dps build:

    http://aesica.net/co/herocreator.htm?v=28&n=&d=11230abGA9PK000000B000B105B700B903BH00K503BL03BJ03BG00ON01BC038O03B600OQ001rX242iK2MGB

Puts up Shredded w/ Blade Tempest, and uses DWrath for single targets, and EotS for AoE (fully channel for turtling up w/ the max dmg shield; re-channel every few sec for dps). Gears mostly for Dex and some Con.

    -
You can make a good tank from most powersets atm. Here's an easy one w/ Infernal SN and Devour Essence:

    http://aesica.net/co/herocreator.htm?v=28&n=&d=13280iGQLPKa000000O000O30JOF009A03B700OG03OI2QON01K503NC03EP00ND04K600MS012sib3T3B2MGB

DE allows you to heal while gaining threat and dpsing- only drawbacks are its high cost and melee range limit. So you want to play up-close. Uses Wisp for debuffing and spams Epidemic for AoE. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some Dex and End/Rec.

Also for DWrath do I have to charge or just tap ?
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,742 Arc User
I'd prob be charging it usually- its more energy efficient that way, and fully charging also gives you the Rush buff for even more energy in the background.

OK, what is the main different between dual blade and TK? I test them in powerhouse, they have a lot same skill, I feel TK has more energy, because the buff. dual Blade have more melee dmg. was that right ?

TK may pull more dps now after the revamp, but I'm not sure. They're both very good melee sets, regardless. Can't really go wrong w/ either of them.

Thanks for all the informations, I just got one max lvl character with dual blade, I will go ahead max my TK.

Also may I have one base on munitions ranged full dps build please? They say munitions ranged dps is lower than fire or electricity, was that true?

Also there is a question, I choose my Pst as Ego but in this build innate talent was the chiller, only provide 5 ego, why we not using any innate talent that give us 10 ego?
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,742 Arc User
I forgot to change the innate talent from a diff build using Dex SS, but you can change that if you want (though Chiller isn't bad necc, since ya can still use the Dex for crit)- The Scourge or The Gunslinger could work, though it won't make too much of a diff either way.

that's cool! in fact, I think you are right, cuz crit can active energy unlock, gives me more energy.

I just max the tank, and it's really awesome build, easy to use and very tanky! thanks for that.

also during the time, I saw some one using ice tank, is that ice tank can provide ground crowd control instead has same healing like the build that I using right now? Some times jenny (the one who made this thread) was complaining about when she starting to do AOE dmg and some of the monster will attacking on her. I think if I can use some crowd control to keep her safe? (since the damn healer reroll as a dps *so sad*)

which you think is better? if ice better can you share me a build for ice tank?

Tanks generally won't have as strong CC (though they can, its not expected of the role usually). Also, most hold-based CC's (sans stuns) break easily to inc dmg. Your tank will just have to be more self-sufficient w/o a healer around (though you can always put an ally heal on a dps or hybrid build, it obv won't be as strong). If you are having AoE threat issues, then maybe use a diff AoE that can have Challenge on it (since Epidemic can't- oddly).

If citing the Infernal tank: instead of Epidemic, you could use Vicious Cyclone w/ its Vortex adv for some AoE CC (wide pbAoE, but doesn't allow movement), or maybe try Venomous Breath w/ the stun adv (must be angled as its a frontal cone AoE, but is cheaper and allows movement). These AoEs won't have great dps, and again you still want a Challenge adv on either for threat- but they can still be nice for tanking. An Ice tank won't really be much better in the AoE and CC respect, and the nice thing about the Infernal tank is that its main single-target attack (DE) also self-heals; most main attacks for tanks won't innately do that.

I suppose if you wanted more of a heal-tank build you could switch to using stuns + Sentinel Mastery and Aura, though you won't get the Mastery till max level, and going w/ Sentinel spec will lower ur dps and threat gen a bit (it will also lower Defense some vs. Warden + Vindicator, though more self-healing can help make up for that).

Thunderclap and/or Venom Breath can stun and proc Sentinel Mastery (and the debuff works even on CC immune targets, since it counts the attempt and not if the CC is effective). Again, its more of a max level build since you won't have the Mastery till then.

Thunderclap and/or Venom Breath can stun and proc Sentinel Mastery (and the debuff works even on CC immune targets, since it counts the attempt and not if the CC is effective). Again, its more of a max level build since you won't have the Mastery till then.

Thanks for the build, I think I will figure that out. would you tell me some information about the ice tank? when I first time see there is a player who play as ice tank I wounder how come a ranged dps can be a tank but in fact he is tanky as I do too. would you tell me how is that works ?

Also, dual TK blade and single blade will be different dmg or just looks different ?

May I ask you please not fully re-quote me every time you reply? It just takes up unnecessary space.

And yea, any powerset (and practically any theme) can be made into a tanking build. The basics for tanking are using a defensive passive (so using the Tank or Hybrid roles), taking Challenge advs for securing threat, blocking well, having high base HP and defense, and having some self-heals and mitigation tools (like Active Defenses) to fall back on. You can add any powerset's attacks or utility powers on top of that.

Single Blade can function a bit diff than TK- since its usually based on bleeds. Each powerset has their own mechanics and diff scaling factors (even if the diffs can be slight). I'd rather not go through all of them, though- imo its better for you to explore and experiment for yourself.

    @flowcyto

I am sorry for waste a lot space here, this took me like 10 mins find out how to not quote and @ someone . LOL.

Please for give my English, I mean for Id Mastery skill, here is Id Blades advanced skill call "Id Blades", will make my single TK blade becomes dual TK blade. Will it effect to dmg or just different look?

when I try dual TK blade, I feel like attack speed little lower than single. Like using ID weaponry last combo hit slower than single, after hit single TK blade can starting next hit faster than dual.

was it true or just the way that dual TK attacking post looks slower but its same?

Its okay. Dual vs. Single TK Blades is just a visual difference. Its why the adv for them are 0-pts.
