Telepathy or nuttin

So I see telepathy referenced as the end all be all of controller powersets but are there any others? Are there ways to control as well as TP with other powersets? Or is telepathy made for it and there is really nothing else that does what it does?

Darkness, Sorcery, Force, secondary effects from ice and fire, wind. Brick has loads of control powers, too.

Would you say those are on par with Mental Storm, Ego storm, TK Maelstrom and Sleep? Do you think those powersets could take on QWZ using their control aspects?

Depends if you include knocks as control, since most CC tends to refer to stuns/holds of sorts. If you include knocks, then yea plenty of other sets have control options.

Really, your main issue in going without any Telepathy is just that the Devs seem to love Sleep. Whereas Paralyze often gets a duration penalty, many times Sleep gets a duration bonus. Also, there aren't many tap-Stun powers, especially AOE. And Mental Storm is the only Paralyze that I know of that does not have to be fully charged to operate. But, yeah, a lot of this is discussed in the above-referenced thread.
