this used to be a great build, where has the power gone

Ok this was my main back around the time onslought was getting ready to come out. It did on the shoulder launcher around an average crit of 7k twice often and kept churning out damage building energy as fast as I could spend it.

now I swapped out the defensive passive as this was always an offensive toon I just had the defensive in there because of the agro I used to get so easily. I now crit on my shoulder missile about 4.7k average and I don't even have the energy to keep more than 1 power running at a time and even then it doesn't last long at all. conceptually the toon is meant to be a missile spammer but the damage per hit is so much lower and I spend way more time *as I used to have to spend none now about 3/4 of it is done so) in energy building. is the missile PA thing a dead build or am I missing something?
I don't duel anymore since the level 6 hit my level 8 for 15k in one shot instantly

    also I was hitting for the same damage with the shoulder launcher after comming back before using my retcon so the passive seems to do nothing for the damage at all.

    Your energy problems are likely because overdrive is not what it once was. Power armor is still very potent, and missiles can do it, but you'll need more energy.

    not to mention regain the damage per attack I lost since I used to do more per hit with a defensive passive than I now do with an offensive one. Doing tests in the PH also and my passive says it boosts my tech powers by 80% but I hit for only 300 less or so with no passive than with it. is composure not working right?

    This is one of my PA guys. Dual passive. Doesn't need to use CoAP. Almost never runs out of energy. Does pretty decent damage.

    Yea, Jaaz's build is a pretty good start for Con-less PA still trying to use 3 slots. A version w/ Con SS could either go down to 2 attack toggles max, or try CoAP (or Dark Transfusion).

    The issue w/ using Shoulder Launcher now is that w/o Chest Beam (no longer a slotted power), Minigun, or Eye Beams, you don't have access to Burn Through's debuff. Targeting Comp is also more ideal for PA dps than Composure (which is on the more defensive side).

    so your saying con is a good route then, looks like the character is gonna be dead weight until I cal level another toon to farm the money to re-gear. It also looks like the missile build just isn't gonna re-gain the damage it lost any real way.

    Well, afaik, part of the PA revamp was an intended nerf to its max dps performance, as it was seen as too out-of-line before the review. So, I wouldn't expect to get back to the dps you had before. That said, since Chest Beam was removed from PA slots, the ballistics and plasma approaches give similar numbers- they are a bit more interchangeable now and it more comes down to desired theme than before. You just have to approach the powerset w/ diff expectations now.

    what about the powers taken off slot, are they worth using? not gonna work for the current toon but may be able to change some stuff around on alts.

    You may still be able to work around lockouts, say if you want Chest Beam for its debuff, but at the same time waiting for lockouts can be a performance loss in of itself. Non-slot PA builds can still work, though choices are a bit limited and I wouldn't expect great dps from them. It may be better to make a sep build to use the non-slotted PA stuff (you'll need a diff EU anyways; OD won't work for charged powers), but its up to you.
