Nier Automata 2B Speed Melee build

nafeariannafearian Posts: 48 Arc User
Hi, looking for help with a build based off 2b from Nier automata. For her companion machine I'm using devices. This is her current build that's hitting fairly well but doesn't have great energy management or survivability. It would be great if anyone could point out redundancies or issues that pop out. Any gear recommendations would be appreciated as well as I haven't given her anything other than the aurum set yet. Thanks :)

Funny, for me a 2B build would be a Heavy Weapons build :)

No need to have Skewer and Reaper's Caress here, esp when you don't have a bleed rupture. I would trade Skewer for Reaper's Embrace, since ur using Steadfast anyways. FotS may be a more reliable form for all but Inex Tides here (I prob would just get Scything Blade w/ FotS instead), and you may want to consider the combo boosts in Warden if using Reaper's Caress often enough. Perhaps also consider pairing MD w/ BCR/RR, or maybe just stick w/ Conviction. Could also consider Resurgence over something like Evasive Maneuvers or rank1 of an AO.

Can also consider a STR/Dex/Con build (still Dex focused), using Juggernaut, Brutality, and Physical Peak.

    • I would say replace Thunderbolt Lunge with Scything Blade - an alternative to lunges is to simply charge Scything Blade on your way to your next target. This would give more of an action game feel like N:A.
    • Another option is to replace Lunge with Sword Cyclone with the Butcher's Blade advantage, same concept as Scything Blade but even bigger damage potential. For this though you would need to consider replacing Constitution with Endurance so you can get full charges of Sword Cyclone out.
    • For survival ability I would say replace Antagonize with Eye of the Storm - the shield it generates is pretty good.
    • Way of the Warrior seems like it would fit 2B more as well.
    • Inexorable Tides I'm guessing is there to emulate 2B's aoe launcher - though maybe Eruption might do better at emulating how she actually uses her weapon to do that ( also knocks just a bit higher, and way higher if you can find a way to apply Disoriented ).
    • For your energy problems, I would trade Intensity for Dragon's Bite, that generally takes care of that.
    • Also for energy problems you could switch to Strength Primary, and stack Dexterity as a Secondary - that would give you a good chunk of cost discount thanks to Physical Peak.
    • Skewer is neat but you already have Reaper's Caress for sustained aoe damage and it's gonna feel way more "action game" spamming that in crowds than standing there poking with Skewer. Reaper's Embrace on the other hand would give you some great single target burst that lets you remain mobile.
    • Another option is to trade Skewer in for Dragon's Wrath and have that be your main single target dps - then you also wouldn't need Dragon's Bite mentioned above and would have that slot for whatever ( if you did that I might recommend replacing Intensity with Swift Strike, those quick stuns can be pretty useful for survival as well ).

I find for normal bleed/SB builds that Rush isn't really needed if you have Steadfast, Physical Peak, FotS and decent (300+) Dex. Rush can give you more leeway ofc, esp if using FotT (which is more rng), or maybe if throwing something like Conviction in there. Maybe see how energy is w/o Rush and some of the other changes, and then take a Dragon move if energy is still insufficient.

Thank you both for the feedback :) I probably should have initially said that I wanted to avoid using dual blades for the aesthetic. Ultimately I wanted to try and get a decent synergy between single blade and heavy weapon powers. I spent most of today trying out all the different variations suggested. This is where I'm currently at with the build.

The energy issue is mostly been resolved by changing skewer to reaper's embrace and going with the strength tree. I went with inexorable tides partly for theme but also because of the massive energy burst granted by unstoppable's knock bonus. I kept antagonise because of the advantages it gives which feeds into the whole speed fluid movement thing. I tried all the lunge alternatives but found I didn't have the energy to support blade cyclone and the others weren't getting me to the target fast enough (also the rooting advantages were missed) I think any other shortcomings will be briged by using some better gear for her stats. Thank you so much! any further pointers would be appreciated :+1:

Well, Skewer can bleed now (50% chance on full charge iirc), so you could make a Rupture build w/ it instead of Reaper's Caress as the bleed builder if you wanted more of a HW mix in there. That may raise more energy issues, though, and Caress may still be better w/ a Focus toggle. Maybe consider adding a real pbAoE in there like Scything Blade, Arc of Ruin, or Brimstone. I may still use FotS if all ur main attacks are bleed-related, but that's up to you.
