Need Help Creating a Tank Build

blackwolf305blackwolf305 Posts: 170 Arc User
I'm recently coming back to CO and notice a bunch of power changes, I looking to make a Heavy Weapons/Darkness Tank (I'm afraid putting any Electricity powers in will throw it off but if not throw those in too :bleep_bloop: ) I need some help figuring out which stats, powers, and specializations to pick. Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

Here's one way to do it:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform
    v2.2.3-24

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Strength (Primary)
    Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
    Level 15: Endurance (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Devastator (Con: 10, End: 8, Str: 10, Rec: 10)
Level 6: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)
Level 9: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
    Level 12: Bodybuilder (Str: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 18: Relentless (Str: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 21: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Bludgeon
Level 1: Eruption (Magma Burst, Challenge!)
    Level 6: Defiance
    Level 8: Enrage (Endorphin Rush)
    Level 11: Thermal Reverberation
Level 14: Arc of Ruin (No Quarter, Wildfire, Challenge!)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Void Shift (Emerging Nightmares)
Level 23: Annihilate (Rank 2, Scorching Blade, Challenge!)
Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2, Evanescent Emergence)
Level 29: Soul Vortex (Soul Drain, Challenge!)
Level 32: Ebon Void (Rank 2, Voracious Darkness)
    Level 35: Masterful Dodge
    Level 38: Rebirth
    Adv. Points: 33/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (3/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (2/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (3/3)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Elusive (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Strength Mastery (1/1)

Uses more HW than Darkness. Though it's possible to mix in more Darkness powers, it may be less efficient than a build that is purer in one powerset. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some Str for Enrage.

If you're going to take soul vortex anyway, I'd take Spirit Reverb instead of Thermal Reverb.

Sure, if one wants to- it will change the playstyle perhaps a bit to make sure you have good Vortex uptime and that Fear is being refreshed. MSA + Int SS could prob work too. There's some flexibility there w/ the EU.

And yea, you can take Invuln, though that means you'll want to free up 4 adv points somewhere

Another question does Inul still scale with CON or has it been changed?

the only passive which scales with CON now is defiance. the other passives haven't scaled with a certain stat (with an exception in quarry) for years.

Really? wow, well when I had Invul. I used to stat CON and the scaling did rise the more CON I added theresistance I had against damage increased. Unless Im understanding that wrong

Sorry if Im being a bit annoying with the questions, but If i pick Invul. would Enrage still be the best form to chose and would Str be the best Primary SS

It scales with your superstats, and has done so since I think 2010.

Inlvuln was scaling up w/ Con for you prob cause you SS'd Con, and all slotted passives (save for a few exceptions like Defiance, Quarry's Audacity, and Aura passives on allies) scale w/ ur total SS's.

Enrage is still prob the best form/toggle here if using Heavy Weapons. You could take Con PSS w/ Str SS as a decent alternative for a melee tank, though Str PSS w/ Con SS and Juggernaut is still more versatile as a defense + dps mix.

Level 32: Ebon Void (Rank 2, Voracious Darkness)
    Level 35: Masterful Dodge
    Level 38: Rebirth
    Adv. Points: 33/36

    Travel Powers

    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (3/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (2/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (3/3)

    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Strength Mastery (1/1)

Uses more HW than Darkness. Though it's possible to mix in more Darkness powers, it may be less efficient than a build that is purer in one powerset. Gears mostly for Con, w/ some Str for Enrage.

Erm, I hope a dev or CM can clean all those posts up. You didn't even have to quote me once- much less repeat reply- just to ask a simple question :x

But yes, you can take Invuln if you want, though you'll want to free up 4 adv points somewhere. You could take out EE on Resurgence, and I would remove the Fear adv on Void Shift (since Soul Vortex can apply Fear, though at a lower rate).
