Dual Passive Force Build

jaazaniah1jaazaniah1 Posts: 5,553 Arc User
I guess the new dev meta is to push players away from using Hybrids for end game content. A few of my characters, especially those from when I first started playing, were usually Hybrids, mostly with a defensive passive. I still like these builds for soloing, but since they are not welcome at end game I need to retool them a bit. My dual passive PA and Lightning rebuilds were successful. Now it's time to work on my Force build.

This one is tricky because his defensive passive is PFF (thematic must have), which requires Field Surge. That eats up 2 slots. I'm going Quarry for the offensive passive for now since Force Cascade doesn't eat it. Maybe the eventual Force review will fix the problem with FC eating the in-set passive (Kinetic Manipulation), though I fear that they will turn Quarry into an energy form just so FC can eat it as well.

Using Int as PSS since it plays well with Quarry (boosts Ego 3x20 which gets it to the soft cap), Concentration and MSA (though I do miss Ego for PSS), and helps make spamming FC more possible.

Questions:
1. Should I rank up Force Geyser? I'd probably have to take points from ranks in LnL and/or Imbue.
2. Rank 3 Protection Field or Rank 3 Force Sheathe? This is just switching points from one to another.
3. MD or Resurgence Rank 2 (points from either LnL or Imbue).

Always happy to hear other suggestions.

Turning Quarry into an energy form wouldn't make much sense, imo, esp since its in the tech trees and not in energy projection or magic. I do hope for a Force review, but we'll just have to see what they'll do w/ FC.

The build is okay, though you'll be a bit squishy w/ Quarry, and w/ just FC and cd attacks you may be energy building more (and then may consider energy refraction). I typically wouldn't take PF on a non-support build, but w/o Con SS and if you plan on using it pretty regularly then mine as well rank it. I prob would move a rank from Imbue to the block, though, since that only impacts Imbue's duration. What AD you want to take outside of FSurge for PFF is up to you. MD is good for both passives, but you'd prob be getting more use outta Resurgence when using Quarry.

Thanks for the feedback. At cosmics my Ego-Rec-End dual passive PA guy does OK with his block and the auras and so on available (as long as I remember to block!). If I need to solo things I'll go PFF. I'm not keen on PF either, but that, or similar, are all that's available as a band-aid to help PFF. My old version of this build did OK alternating FG and FC most of the time. There shouldn't be a lot of End building and one tap will fill it up. I was thinking exactly of moving 1 rank from Imbue to help the block. Glad I'm in the ball park!

Try looking at Unstoppable as your off passive. The damage boost is nearly as good and it gives energy when you knock. The best way to get more damage output from Force Cascade is to...fire more Force Cascades.

I hadn't though of Unstoppable! Interesting choice. Using that I can go back to Ego PSS and have a set up like this
    Ego 545
    Rec 229
    End 111

Against PH dummies Concentration gives me 65 energy for a FC and Unstoppable gives 81.So, no energy coming form Force Sheathe yet. FC cost is 50-145. No real need now to use Force Geyser to proc MSA. I can just spam full FCs endlessly. The bonus Damage is only 56 (compared to 89 w/ Quarry) but crits are often 20K+ and can be fired off more often, so more sustained dps that way. Tempting to drop FG for Nanobot Swarm to be able to cycle through Imbue and LnL more often.

    Good suggestion. Thanks.

I run Nanobots, Field Surge, and Conviction as my support. My build has kinda evolved with the maxed out gear I am running but with Ego: 650, REC: 137, and END:144 I can just about spam full charged Force Cascades all day long with out using an energy builder. Even if I was using Heroic gear I would still be over 550 with ego and be throwing FCs till the cows come home.

One last thing, don't bother with an Active offense click. Overall they are not worth it on a Force Cascade build.

Now I'm curious, could you post your build?

I assume you aren't end building much or at all, so then Force Refraction could be skipped. Having LnL is still nice cause of the hold break, dmg/crit boost, and extra cost discount it can provide. I still kept MSA in there mostly to help pay for Conviction, and to help w/ energy when not using Unstoppable.

These are more or less what I have, though I wonder why Warden and not Guardian w / Find the Mark?

You can take Guardian, though Find the Mark will have quite less uptime w/ a very long charged attack like FC. Elusive is nice defensively for any type of build.
