Make the Vibora Bay access chain optional

tilartatilarta Posts: 291 Arc User
I've done the Vibora Bay access chain 14 times now and I think it's about time they made it optional.
That when a player character reaches a certain level (37-38), access to Vibora Bay is unlocked instead of having to play through 2 hours of missions you've done several times over.
And that's without the side missions!

So I think the Vibora Bay mission chain should be optional, for those of use who either have played it many times over or don't want to play it at all.

If you are curious as to why I invest effort in getting there, it's because I like the hub better then the other one.

    2 hours of missions?
you trying to unlock VB on nothing but support toons?

having unlocked VB almost 20 times myself, I can tell you... at the most it takes about an hour on your adverage toon.. with the mroe team dependant toons [healers, uber squishy dps, ccers] taking a little longer... but not 2 hours

Well, it does depend if you do the side missions too. If you push and just do the main mission an hour or a bit more is about right. OTOH, having done VBA on 30 characters I wouldn't mind it being optional. By the time I get to level 40 I've probably only ever done ca. 2/3 of the regular VB missions. If I could skip VBA I'd likely end up playing more of the regular VB content before capping out.

Average time for me is closer to two hours than one. Even if it were one hour, I still would not run it very often.

I have around 30 level 40 toons, and I have unlocked VB on five of them.

Wish I didn't have to, and I don't really plan on unlocking it for more.

I was counting all the missions in playtime, the ones that start with Valerian Scarlett in the club up until the one where I walk into the time machine during the crisis.
Not all of them are in the crisis, the first few are independent of it.

Also, I ran into problems with the initial quota missions during the crisis, the ones that say "find this, defeat that and while you're at it, fetch my drycleaning from Lo Fat's Laundrette".
They're mostly time wasters, having to search around for whatever lost sock they want.

I agree completely, there is still little benefits to doing it like one or two quests that gives rank 5 mods for when you reach level 40 and start gearing out.

Average 2 hours sounds more accurate for VBA.

There should be a requirement to complete it at least once before access to VB opens up. Subsequent times by other toons should be entirely optional.

I would argue that it should be made entirely optional to do like the Crisis missions, but it's not exactly classified as a Crisis mission is it? I dunno.

I've only done VBA once, and split up my play time between several sessions.

If I had measured it I'd have gotten a really long score since I spent ridiculous amounts of time exploring and ganking random enemies just for breathing. Also a hilarious screwup where I spent an hour on the final map of the final mission because I didn't read the objectives and instead performed a massacre. Seriously, I have no idea how many Nephilim I killed. All I remember was that there were boost orbs scattered everywhere when I finally got bored of it.

The funny thing is that my motivation was due to the "Talk like a Pirate day" CC being held at Vibora dock.

But yeah, I'd make access an account unlock after doing the story once.

I like this idea. In fact, I feel every Crisis mission, and VBA, should work like the tutorial. One required run, then optional after that. They also need to make Lemuria and Monster Island Crises soloable, as no one ques for them anymore.

I agree, I've done the VB intro stuff twice. The first time was just to see the story, the second time was for the Blood moon ghost ship from two years ago. Beyond that there is nothing in VB worth going through the intro again.
