LTS vs sub

aiqaaiqa Posts: 2,620 Arc User
Players with a LTS are getting a few things that players with a sub are not getting.
And while that might have been reasonable when the game launched, to get people to buy one, by now it really doesn't seems fair anymore.
People who are using a sub for their gold account might have very well payed more than players with a LTS by now.

So for things like the sub reward LTS access, and unique LTS costume piece, I'd like if players with something like 1500 days of sub would get access to those too.

The issue is the LTS is still being offered. There needs to be something special as an incentive for someone to spend that much money all at once, especially for a game that's no longer fully staffed and working on limited resources.

If you take away the incentives, it will be harder to sell LTS. As a LTS from the early days of CO, I wouldn't have too big of an issue if the incentives were given to regular subs after a certain period of time that is equal to, or greater than, the amount an LTS spends to purchase it. But ONLY if they decide to stop offering the LTS as a plan.

With a 1500 days sub requirement there would still be an incentive to go LTS and get it all on day 1.

Yup, this is a very good suggestion and seems very fair.

1500 day sub reward sounds reasonable... after all that is $750 in subscription cost.

So, after going gold for four years, I can get an advantage over LTS. Is this a serious suggestion? Because I can't ever see any reason to ever bother going gold for any reason, especially that long, when I could just not ever be gold and save up for LTS, which is amazingly cheaper. ANYONE that has been gold for more than 30 months (~900 days) EVEN at the $10/month discount, has paid more than the price of an LTS and still gets less than what LTS offers.

Gold is a terrible option because LTS exists. The only incentive I can ever see being a good one is that if you stay gold for 900+ days, you get an auto upgrade to LTS. It would basically be Cryptic adding a rent-to-own plan in for CO. And it would have to be retroactive or you'll piss off the people who already have 900+ days as gold but are not LTS. But I don't see that happening ever.

So do i become douple LTS?
    ...
They could give me a second account with LTS benefits.
And add something special for the Pre-Order and Disc Version of the game.

Obviously this would not be a goal for new players. It's for the players who are finding themselves in such a place now.

The loyal monthly sub players being rewarded is a good idea, like they do in swtor. But the reason life timer players are given an extra toy every month is, if we are willing to pay that much at a time, we are most likely going to spend more on the game...and obviously have the cash to keep giving us said vanities like you would vip status many casino hotels offer for their big spenders. Given i wasnt banned for giving my 2 cents in that trump thread im most likely going to spend another $100 in zen this month on champs. STO must be doing very well to drop so many customers. heh

But even admitting that, im not boasting that i shower myself in the games luxuries, my main is setup so i need nothing else, but when i encounter other players with difficulty in obtaining certain things, especially new and leveling players, i see to their needs the best i can to help them get a better start then i did when i first started. This helps not only the company keep going, but helps inspire players to keep playing.

Sure, they paid enough, they get the stuff. It rhymes so you know it's a good idea.

idk, i guessed at the reason tbh. My pc's my only entertainment so when i can afford it i drop my extra into the digital world "please insert another quarter"

Someone like me would have to sub for almost another 1.5 years to get 1500 day. I've already spent more than the price of an LTS just on subscriptions and have less to show for it than if I hadn't been a dumb **** and gone with the LTS. At this point, there is only one reasons for me to go gold ever again since LTS would still be better than gold even for me with ~990 days. At full price, that 500 days is only a few dollars less than just getting LTS at full price.

I doubt there are that many gold member that have even 1k days let alone 1500. It would be such a tiny number that it wouldn't be worth it for Cryptic to waste their time. At least with rent-to-own, there actually becomes an incentive to go gold for more than a month to see if you like it. It would work for new players not just crusty, old players that have been around for eternity.

No one has suggested such a thing.

In any case, the rent-to-own option sounds pretty good to me.

I'd scale it back a bit. Yeah, rent to own sounds good. At least, if you pay as much as I did for my lts, you should get my unlocks.

If for no other reason than I'd love to see that sexy lts helmet on more characters. I'm not gonna lie, I got my lts specifically to access that freaking helmet. It's beautiful.
