So... a slime theme...

It's funny to play Champions Online, with all that it contains, and feel too limited.

I used to play a drow wizard named "Ilztas", styled like a D&D character, 700+ Presence, focused on crowd control. It was fun, but that was over a year ago, and my interests have changed.

Now I've come back after playing around in Space Station 13, and getting into Starbound, and my new fixation nowadays is... well... slime.

...Specifically, a slime person. I just like the idea of this as a species. Unfortunately, Champions Online hasn't got any liquid powers despite all the other common elements, not even something like throwable globs of poison or other stuff (though there's Holy Water, Ooze Tunneling, and I guess Quicksand). I still love CO though, and want to work around this roadblock, but it's left me confused as heck since I re-subscribed on the 17th, unable to settle on a plan. Force is what people tend to gravitate toward when they want water-like powers, but they don't really work for me, and neither do the ice or wind powers. Poison stuff works somewhat, but the fact it's infernal flames for the most part stands out too much to me.

I'm wondering if someone else can help me get going with some build inspiration here. Maybe think about what traits you'd imagine a character made of slime would have, I suppose, and... throw something together to take a look at? Personally my mind's screwed over with thoughts of crowd control (I'd imagine slimes slowing or immobilizing their target), being tanky (probably able to take a beating like a punching bag), or just having useful utilities that a team could benefit from.

If there were liquid powers, I'd have something to start with possibly, but my thoughts are too scattered. Can you help me out?

Earth (and Hurl in Might) could work if most of its fx weren't as opaque, as it has some fitting casting anims (imo). Otehrwise, here's what I could cook up:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Intelligence (Primary)
    Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
    Level 15: Dexterity (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Glacier (Con: 10, End: 10, Dex: 8, Int: 10)
Level 6: Covert Ops Training (Str: 3, Dex: 3, Con: 3, Int: 3)
Level 9: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
    Level 12: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 15: Coordinated (Dex: 5, Int: 5)
Level 18: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 21: Negotiator (Int: 5, Rec: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Shadow Bolt
Level 1: Infernal Blast (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 6: Void Shift (Emerging Nightmares)
Level 8: Night Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3, Silent Running)
    Level 11: Concentration
    Level 14: Quicksand (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 17: Molecular Self-Assembly
    Level 20: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 23: Summon Shadows (Rank 2, Devouring Darkness)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 29: Force Shield (Rank 2, Force Sheathe)
Level 32: Ego Surge (Nimble Mind)
    Level 35: Masterful Dodge
    Level 38: Rebirth
    Adv. Points: 32/36

    Travel Powers
Level 6: Ooze Tunneling (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Intelligence: Enlightened (3/3)
    Intelligence: Tactician (2/2)
    Intelligence: Detect Vulnerability (3/3)
    Intelligence: Expertise (2/2)
    Avenger: Ruthless (2/2)
    Avenger: Round 'em Up (3/3)
    Avenger: Relentless Assault (3/3)
    Avenger: Offensive Expertise (2/2)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Avenger Mastery (1/1)

Mostly lunges in and uses Quicksand, and casts the blast when Avenger Mastery procs. Can use the lunge, Shadows, and Conviction to roll MSA. The blast could be any blast power you deem most fitting thematically. Some other Darkness powers could work, like Grasping Shadows, but I'm not too sure what you'd be satisfied with in terms of look. Gears mostly for Int and Con.

Yeah ur going to have to suspend ur disbelief a bit for the character, but I suppose it does depend on the normal form of the 'slime' you want- more congealed into solid masses (like TK or Earth), or more of a watery poison, tendrils, etc. You could prob even make a brawler based off it- maybe use Fighting Claws and try to make them fit the look so ur fist transforms a bit when punching? I dunno. But since their aren't many projectile-based stuff that fits well, it would be easier to just bash stuff w/ slimy fists, because then its all down to ur costume (not as exciting though, ofc).

    Hey long time no see.

Honestly, I would go with a might/invulnerable tank build. Using quicksand as your AOE. I'm assuming you already got one of the Ooze travel powers.

Well, if you wanted a heal-tank w/ Infernal, here's one way to it:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Constitution (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Dexterity (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Chiller (Con: 10, End: 10, Dex: 10, Rec: 8)
Level 6: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 9: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 12: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 15: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)
Level 18: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
    Level 21: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Infernal Bolts
Level 1: Venomous Breath (Rank 2, Paralytic Bile, Challenge!)
    Level 6: Supernatural Power
    Level 8: Regeneration (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Compassion
Level 14: Devour Essence (Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenge!)
Level 17: Will-o'-the-Wisp (Guide, Ghost Fire)
    Level 20: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 23: Curse (Jinxed, Covet, Challenge!)
Level 26: Void Shift (Nailed to the Ground)
Level 29: Force Shield (Rank 2, Force Sheathe)
    Level 32: Masterful Dodge
Level 35: Circle of Primal Dominion (Rank 2)
Level 38: Ego Surge (Nimble Mind)
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Constitution: Fuel My Fire (3/3)
    Constitution: Resilient (2/2)
    Constitution: Quick Healing (1/3)
    Constitution: Adrenaline Rush (2/2)
    Constitution: Armored (2/2)
    Sentinel: Torment (2/2)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (2/3)
    Sentinel: Wither (2/2)
    Sentinel: Genesis (1/2)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Mastery: Sentinel Mastery (1/1)

Gears mostly for Con and Rec (Rec will scale up Compassion and Supernatural Power here). Should be pretty capable; may not hold up to the theme ya want, though.

Well, if the game had a larger dev team and more attention, this sort of thing would likely have been accommodated already over time. Who knows- maybe something like a proper plant/water set is coming and that could be a nicer fit for what you want, but I wouldn't hold my breath over it.
