Make hideouts BETTER.

Hideouts, HQs, and bases are ICONIC in super-hero fiction. They are FAR from that in this game. Think of the Batcave, The Hall of Justice, The Justice League Satellite, Four Freedoms Plaza, its predecessor the Baxter Building, the Avenger Mansion, etc.

Is what we have as helpful and useful as those locations?

Hideouts need a major revamp.

Here are some suggestions:

-Make available as a mission reward for select missions so not only available from Zen Store. Succeed in the Knighthawk mission for the penthouse, succeed at the Purple Reign mission for an abandoned warehouse site, etc.
-Make any hideout one that can be shared to a supergroup with the original owner of the hideout determining who has access to what (labs, libraries, etc) OR they can "CONTRIBUTE" it to the group, relinquishing all rights to it and transferring rights to the leader of the SG but with a plaque somewhere stating they contributed it. Players can contribute more and more to a Hideout but large enough groups may want a larger Hideout with more doors/rooms. Special VERY DIFFICULT missions requiring a full 4 members of an SG start and finish the mission can grant special LARGE SG hideouts such as underwater bases (Crisis at Lemuria? or underwater river adventure in the Qulaar ship in the river), high high tech mansions (Resistance?), or orbital satellite bases (A new Alien Crisis?).
-Trophy Case - One piece of Furniture is a glass shelf (like the one available in the Luxury apartment) but has items based upon the perks earned by the owner or perks contributed by members of the SG (They will then disappear off the character if contributed but can be re-earned.) Owner or SG leader can program what items show. Bragging rights are awesome.
-Make "Tailor" and "Bank" an optional thing that can be added by purchase or granted by mission for special missions.
-Many hideouts have pre-existing doors that lead nowhere and can't be opened. One has to be a bathroom (One HAS to be a bathroom! 8| ) but.... Make the hideouts use the alternate doors that currently serve no purpose as rooms represented by a static image. The image will simply show an image of the room but tell you the benefit without requiring a room be made in 3D. These are the suggested benefits:

Walk-in Closet - "Tailor"

Vault - Stores mod components. Essentially, the BANK. Owner Only access or other SG leaders with special access. What about direct access to the Actual Super Groups bank account? (And please God, have multiple tabs with programmable access and sort available for them.)

Supply Closet - Stores mod components. Essentially, the BANK. Owner Only access unless access granted by owner.

Teleport Pad - Get teleported to any number of UNTIL approved teleport pads all over the different zones straight from your hideout. (In Millenium City, one at Ren Center then one wherever they have those field UNTIL units stationed, then one other in each other zone near the landing pad)

Hallway - May have up to three additional rooms

Library - Spend your time here during log out for Intelligence and Ego bonuses that eventually become permanent only up to +10 but have to be maintained (i.e. periodically staying here during log out lest your abilities atrophy)
Study - As library
Weight Room - As Library but for Strength and Constitution
Indoor Track - As Library but for Endurance and Recovery
Gymnasium - As Library but for Dexterity and Travel Power boost
Dance Studio- As Library but for Dexterity and Avoidance
Dojo - As Library but for Offense and Defense
High Tech Lab - Can be used as a skill table for Science Skill (bonus varies from +6% to +15%) or multiple slots available for Catalysts
Garage - As Library but for your vehicle Travel Bonus and
Arcanum - Can be used as a skill table for Mystic Skill (bonus varies from +6% to +15%) or multiple slots available for Catalysts
Arsenal - Can be used as a skill table for Arms Skill (bonus varies from +6% to +15%) or multiple slots available for Catalysts
Greenhouse - Useful for creating some mystic and some science mods periodically
Forge - Useful for creating some mystic, arms, and science mods periodically

Bedroom - Character Start each login once a day with a new heal, energy booster, or damage boost. Luxury Bedroom gives you two of these. Opulent Suite bedroom gives three. Additional bedrooms are assigned by the owner to their own characters allow one player the benefits of ALL amenities of the Hideout or and the extra heals/boosts. If the hideout is granted to an SG, then the owner grants to one player character of another player.

Yeah, I know. it takes money and dev time but I think this would be a great addition.

Are any of the devs who made the hideouts still working on CO? Tacofangs/Tumerboy switched to STO, and I'm not sure if anyone is left who does hideouts.

THAT is a DAMN shame. :(

Would anyone like to see my original suggestions come to be and do you have suggestions of your own for Hideouts?

    I think he is solely responsible for hideouts. He might be the only reason the hideouts stopped being developed. He made beautiful things. ;~;

The Hideouts needs to be expanded however. It's a totally untapped market. The two rooms must be revealed!

I say stuff and I say things, sometimes together but only when I'm feeling adventurous.

It's not. the two hidden rooms are the crafting and training rooms. AFAIK all the hideouts have them. BEHOLD! http://marhawkman.deviantart.com/gallery/50984561/ChampionsDevious-Folder

    penthouse:

    cave:

the training room is the lower left and crafting lower right

these are incomplete, you can see the training room in the back ground with no floor. also the hallways connecting them are not there. The doors here might have been meant to be warps.

    sanctum:

    nice map huh?

this one had wood doors you could walk through

SG bases would be cool. I can't see them doing it but it would be cool to have customisable SG bases a la CoH (one of the only few things I preferred abot CoH).

-Make available as a mission reward for select missions so not only available from Zen Store. Succeed in the Knighthawk mission for the penthouse, succeed at the Purple Reign mission for an abandoned warehouse site, etc.

I can see it as a redoable daily mission reward with tokens or some such resource to "build" your base. Shouldn't be too hard to code that given the current setup with perks and rewards being available during events.

I can see it as a series of pseudo comic book covers with the perk title underneath. Not too hard to code and it's just a series of jpeg (or whatever format) images. Just something you or a guest could look at.

-Make "Tailor" and "Bank" an optional thing that can be added by purchase or granted by mission for special missions.

Meh. It's already coded into the current hideouts' loadout. No need to complicate things here.

Library - Spend your time here during log out for Intelligence and Ego bonuses that eventually become permanent only up to +10 but have to be maintained (i.e. periodically staying here during log out lest your abilities atrophy)

Unlikely for permanent bonuses. I could see it as a temporary buff to stats, though. Maybe a 2 hour buff that stays even when KOed. And you can only have one type active (so no macking out by using multiple ones).

High Tech Lab - Can be used as a skill table for Science Skill (bonus varies from +6% to +15%) or multiple slots available for Catalysts
Garage - As Library but for your vehicle Travel Bonus and

Greenhouse - Useful for creating some mystic and some science mods periodically
Forge - Useful for creating some mystic, arms, and science mods periodically

Shouldn't be too hard, since it's already done with the MOD/Fusion tables in RenCen during bonus weeks, so the code is already there. I can see it again as something that can be unlocked with special reward tokens from a daily mission.

I loved them in CoH as well. I had always wanted to customize my own personal one, so when we were getting hideouts I was super excited... and then they came out and I realized how limited they were. A shame. Apparently, they weren't happy with how the SG bases were handled in CoH, but I liked them. :(

I have on one of my toons a glitched token named "UNTIL Building Token" with a question mark for its icon. I got it as Hideouts were being worked on but not yet released. That token to me indicates that there was an idea that involved tokens, but it was scrapped. It would be nice if they were ever to return to such an idea. Who knows what the future holds~

It's not. the two hidden rooms are the crafting and training rooms. AFAIK all the hideouts have them. BEHOLD!

Ahhh! The rooms have been revealed! I knew one was a training room. I couldn't remember what the other one was. They are there, they just need to be finished. Because crafting is now a joke--I'm mean super simplified and streamlined, perhaps the crafting room could be the trophy room instead. Who knows. Hopefully something is done with them at some point.

Well, you may have noticed that the crafting rooms look like a chaotic mess. The items in them seem to belong to 3 categories: mysticism, arms and science. Presumably the plan was for you to only be able to see the items that matched your chosen category.

Or have it like the vehicles where you can add modifications. I like that.

That could work too. I was thinking 3D props like a Destroid head for finishing Day of thE Destroyer and such.

Was thinking more the CURRENT ones could stay as is but new ones would be optional.

I was thinking more +2 bonus that would last for one week and stack up to 5 times with 8 hours of downtime needed to change/add the bonus.

I especially like this idea and the idea of more customization for the crafts. If there were other "craft tables" around town that would require missions to unlock such as the Mystic Foundry that added a big bonus but smaller "tables" but still with little bonuses for hideouts, I would find this ideal.

Also having missions to upgrade your "craft table" here and there would be cool.

There's no real use for Hideouts.
We have no crafting. You can do modding without a table.
    There are no Trophy Rooms.
We can level up powers without Power House training. And we have Power House for training...
We can't decorate (ok, we can, but very very limited way), build, do stuff in our Hideouts. There's no activities in there. Except Tailor and Storage.
There's no Garages for our awesome Vehicles. No point to have one really really....
There are no Teleportes to other Zones
I just think they should leave them way they are, as pretty storage spaces.
Since it would requiere pretty much trashing the whole thing and reboot it to make something of it.
And that's not going to happen.
Or they could do same thing that Crafting got...

the ONLY person working on them was Tumerboy/tacofangs who now works on STO.
they were going to add crafting and traingin to the hideouts but then On alert hit and they became redundant.
The junk rooms are Tumerboys storage of spare art assets

source plz. I posted pics of 3 of them in this thread already. Not sure what you mean by "spare" but the assets are much the same as what you see next to the crafters outside hideouts, and in three flavors that overlay each other.

    Yeah, I'd rather not.

Just add a stripper pole and new acrobatic/gymnastic emotes to go with it to every hideout. It'll be great.
  • dialamxdialamx Posts: 936 Arc User
I remember Tumerboy mentioning a long time ago (before moving to STO) that they were stopping work on Hideouts to focus on making SG bases. But nothing else ever came from that, and I believe it was solely due to Tumerboy moving to STO. So I guess SG bases are now a scrapped idea, and hideouts will now be nothing more than a shared bank space for your characters.

Love all those points. I would also add the I would love to see a main hall with SG leaders statues displayed like in the Champions building main entrance. And a SG HQ would do well with a cellblock area for putting Nemesis Villains on display like the Perks Display idea.
