Good Melee character that does insane DPS but with some survivability??

I just recently switched from Silver to Lifetime and I'm completely lost about building Free Form builds.... I have a good Unleashed AT character that does some decent damage; she usually does 6k-12k damage with her Dragon's Wrath, but she's toooo squishy. My Unleashed is a Dex/Str.

Can anyone recommend me a good melee DPS build, preferably dual blades but with some survivability????

Thank you so much.

Can use Dragon's Claws in combination w/ Blade Tempest to put up Shredded. It gonna be tough to match a good AT's dps since they have a lighter DR on passive dmg bonuses, but DC gains extra severity on crits to help make up for that:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Strength (Primary)
    Level 10: Dexterity (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Master (Con: 10, Str: 10, Dex: 10, Rec: 8)
Level 6: Covert Ops Training (Str: 3, Dex: 3, Con: 3, Int: 3)
    Level 9: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
Level 12: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)
Level 15: Martial Focus (Str: 5, Dex: 5)
Level 18: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 21: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Rain of Steel
Level 1: Blade Tempest (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 6: Form of the Tempest
Level 8: Way of the Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3)

    Level 35: Rebirth
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 30/36

    Travel Powers

    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (2/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (3/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (3/3)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Upper Hand (2/3)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Strength Mastery (1/1)

Uses STR PSS for Juggernaut's high Defense when combined w/ Con SS. Still gears mostly for Dex and Con, though. Last power slot can be w/e.

Quick question, what does DR mean??

"It gonna be tough to match a good AT's dps since they have a lighter DR on passive dmg bonuses."

    DR = Diminishing Returns.

Archetypes have one clear advantage over Freeforms, and that's a less penalizing diminishing returns on damage. This is why Archetypes like Unleashed and The Soldier can potentially deal more DPS than a freeform with relatively equal set of powers, mods, and gear.

In fact, at Cosmics, ATs can often top the charts for that reason.

Yea, the lighter DR on passive dmg means a geared AT can deal anywhere from ~30-45% more final dmg w/ the same power using the same setup/gear as an FF.

FF's do have flexibility and more potential to make an optimal build w/o weaker_unused powers (say have more AOs, or more debuffs, etc). DPS ATs that are good at their role are still role-limited and are mostly glass canons.

Yeah, it's pretty unlikely that you'll come up with a freeform build that out-dpses an Unleashed (a freeform can be a lot more durable than any AT, but ATs have a distinct advantage for DPS builds, and the Unleashed happens to also be reasonably well constructed).
