Force Shield/Force Sheathe nerf??

p4nj4kr3jnp4nj4kr3jn Posts: 189 Arc User
Did Force Sheathe get a nerf? I ask because:
  1. I just used a free respec and my character SEEMS to be a little squishier. One thing I rely on is applying Sheathe every few seconds to keep me blocking. Perhaps when I respecced the "old" Sheathe was replaced by a nerfed new one?
  2. Also, the description for Force Sheathe says "Force Sheathe gives you +8.3 dmg resist and energy when attacked". However Force Shield's tooltip says it gives 250% damage reduction. Is Force Sheath in the 8 seconds after I block still giving me 250% reduction? Did it used to and is no longer?
Confused.

I just ran a quick test and I am definitely NOT getting the 250% dmg resist during Force Sheathe's 8 seconds, and I am fairly sure (I think) that I USED to. I think possibly along they way they nerfed Force Sheathe, and when I respecced I lost the older full block Sheathe and got this weak version instead.

    If that's the case, furious.

If this is true, and then all Force Sheathe gives you is a measely 8% dmg reduc and some free energy when attacked. Is that really worth the ADV points?

Is telekinetic shield/reinforcement any better in terms of dmg resist with the afterblock??

It's true that Force Shield's adv only grants an extra +8.3% dmg resist and energy. Actually TK Shield's adv provides roughly the double of that amount, but lacks extra energy generation.

It has always been thus. You are mistaken, since the advantage never granted full block for 8 seconds. If it were that good, the block would dominate FF builds, too. Perhaps you are doing much tougher content now, after respeccing. Going from Normal difficulty to lairs and Cosmics is a huge leap of difficulty.

If you changed superstats, the percentage may have changed a bit, but I always remember it providing around 8% resist bonus. You do not count as blocking while it is up, either. Returns a good bit of energy, though,

As, criswolf pointed out, TK Shield advantage provides something like 15% damage resist. Energy shield, with the right advantages and attacks, does even better, I believe, but is more limited/specific.

OK, guess it's always been that way, and my sudden increase of damage is either simply a misperception or may be related to the content for the new level(s).

So given that the afterblock advantages are underwhelming in a way I didn't appreciate before, is it worth even taking them?

Force Sheathe is great for feeding you extra energy.

It also looks like it's just one ADV point, so I'll probably still keep it, but still bummed it doesn't do what I thought it did! :/

Force sheath is easily worth its advantage point cost. It may not, however, be worth the effort to keep the buff active if you aren't blocking for other reasons.
