Become Devices in the PNP Lore?

in Champions Pen and Paper RPG

I'm just wondering if the Become Devices-- specifically the ones where you turn into another living (or Undead) creature as opposed to the vehicles are part of the CO PNP Lore? If they are, are they supposed to be magical or scientific in nature?

    Not as they're presented in CO, no. Like in the mainstream comics that Champions PnP is based on, there are a variety of possible methods by which characters can gain the capacity to take on another, superhuman form: mutagenic treatments like chemicals or radiation; magic spells, curses, or artifacts; divine or demonic possession; stimulation of inborn alien or mutant genetic heritage; etc. For the most part each character has a unique singular ability thematically tied to his or her origin. A few "power broker" types have the capacity to grant powers to people on demand, mostly out of a limited range of options and with a lot of strings attached. But being able to choose what completely different type of character you want to become, and change back and forth at will? That's nearly unprecedented in comics.
