Nature Powers

I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed, so I'll put my opinions here.

Why can't Perfect World add in Plant or Water powers - possibly more - all in a section called Nature?

Plant could be a DPS set, apply a DoT/HoT debuff called Pheromones and include powers such as Vine, Vine Lariat, Vine Cyclone and Vine Tangle (which are basically reskinned Infernal chain attacks that apply said Pheromones debuff), Wood Barrier (block), Living Tree (pet) and Flower Blossom (heal), among others.

Water could be a Tank set, deal Crushing damage and include powers like Tsunami, Waterfall and Riptide (Ranged AoE damage attacks), Water Spout (crowd control), Bubbles (Ranged damage attacks) and Whirlpool Shield (block), among others.

Who knows? Maybe Perfect World could also release a flight power where you swim in the air, encased in a bubble.

These suggestions are just that - suggestions. Feel free to add your opinions to this post.

For every powerset, there must be an Archetype. As no-one has commented on this page for a while, which I assume is due to not being overly noticed, I forward the idea that one of these powers be placed into a Free-for-all archetype, and the other a paid.

As always, feel free to add your opinions on the topic to this post.

Honestly, there's likely not enough money in the budget to develop entire new power sets (barring large numbers of new players flooding the game with cash). Over the last couple years we've seen the addition of mini-sets to a couple sets, and they are doing a pass over existing power sets, but this is probably all we can reasonably expect.

In which case, how will water-themed or plant-themed characters be able to create their powers effectively? I find that Infernal Supernatural could be suitable for plant characters, but as of water, what do we use? Think about it.

I disagree. We haven't always had an AT for each powerset. And anyways, we've been ATs added fairly regularly in the past year.

I'll agree that we probably won't see new powersets for reasons that there's not enough dev resources(manpower, money, time) for it.

That said, I SOOOOOOO wish there was a plant powerset.

They just won't exist and you won't be able to play them. Players want a stretching power set, a staff power set, a shield power set, etc. There are lots of possibilities, but not enough money to create them.

If nothing else, when I make water-themed superheroes, I use telepathic or telekinetic abilities. Improvisation is always key, but I have noticed at the start of the game in September 2009, powers such as Celestial or Wind did not exist, and yet despite lacking dev-resources, they were added to the game. Surely if they have the resources to make Wind and Celestial they can make Water or Plant.

No, I think they had much better resources back then. Especially Celestial. That's when the Vibora Bay crisis was added, no?

That was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Many resources were stripped from the game to devote to other projects like Neverwinter and they've never fully come back.

Yes. Celestial was added with Vibora Bay.
Which was supposed to be a paid expansion but the players went into revolt.

The game, when launched, lacked content. It was bad.
Rather than add to what was already in the game, though, they come out with a paid expansion announcement almost immediately after launch?

It looked bad and a whole lot of players did not like it. Hard to blame them, really. I was not too pleased with it myself.

They ended up relenting and making VB free to everyone, but that almost certainly set the game on it's current course.
