Electric Melee?

prestochangoprestochango Posts: 196 Arc User
Looking for a build. Any and all help is appreciated.

After reading the Ghostly Dodge Tank build posted by Flow elsewhere on these very pages ( I would post a link but I'm a bit old and technology confuses me), I was inspired to try a mishmash of electricity and melee.

What would I like from the build? I'm thinking brawler or tank, something durable with a high amount of survivability. A decent mix of electric and some type of melee(might or martial arts work but I also have imaginary weapon skins so I guess anything that is melee inspired) Up close in your face attacks. I don't mind if the energy builder or some of the powers are ranged, I just see the char as a melee type. So something like sparkstorm would work I think.

Of course if it would be possible to eek out decent damage as well I wouldn't be mad.

I quickly threw this together, leaving most tanking advantages out since Powerhouse is not up to date.

The idea is to use PFF as a means to skip on CON as a SS and go the DPS route with EGO/DEX. EGO blades makes going hybrid melee/ranged easier on the dps.

If you run in Hybrid role you can take advantage of the higher DPS. You can supplement the threat using the protector tree that also helps you reset the active defenses, in particular Field Surge to repair the PFF.

Talents oriented towards more energy for the Sparkstorm+Ball Lightning+Ego Blade attacks. You might need even more END/REC in the gear, I am not sure.

Well, you can def use Sparkstorm's toggle on top of other attacks. This can take much energy, though, so I'd recommend it be a AoPM + Hybrid build if ya wanted a non-tank, or a Defiance build if ya wanted a tank.

Aside from energy, the only other thing to Sparkstorm is that it can knock enemies around randomly. It can be a bit annoying, but most melee powers don't root you in place so you can adjust for that happening.

I'll go w/ the non-tank option for now, and Fighting Claws (+ invis weapons) as they make for a good dps set w/ only a few attacks:

    Specializations:

    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

VFangs to put up Shredded. DC for single-target dmg and Rush, and adding Spakstorm on top. Included LStorm since it can also proc Overdrive and to give you a good ranged dps option.

Gears mostly for Dex and Con, though AoPM will boost all stats here. It also passes on gearing for severity rating since it has Dex Mastery.

A tank version could use Defiance, TKicks, and Dragon Uppercut instead (and have Challenge advs, ofc).

Can also make Elec + melee builds that don't use Sparkstorm toggle at all (if that playstyle isn't to ur taste, cause it takes some breaking in), and instead stuff like TStrike or Ball of Lightning for the Elec theme. Ya have a good few other options to explore here.
