Is this place used in the game?

captainhunter1captainhunter1 Posts: 409 Arc User
I've been playing for a while and can't for the life of me remember if this building to the right is used for anything (missions, social area, etc.) in the game. It's just to the west of the City Hall building and isn't labeled as anything. Anybody have an idea what it is? Looks like it should be something important.

EDIT: Apparently it is the Central Library. See the 11th post below.

Hmm. I'm not sure about this.

There is a small bank on the corner by the City Hall that has an open mission for this (I think - but is definitely used for the On Alert bank robbery).

The large building pictured above I can't remember ever seeing anything at (open mission, On Alert, regular mission, etc.)

There is a Help a Citizen mission where you go inside the museum through that door next to Socrates. That's it.

So it's a museum? I thought the museum was on the east side of the City Hall - the building with the gold rocket and globe out front.

Level 27 mission I think. Something about some books.

At the spot the picture is taken there is normally level 18 mobs with a citizen in need of rescuing who has a mission for the player until level 30.

Yeah... other than the open mission, this building isn't used for anything else. There are plenty of "unique" buildings around MC that are only used once (like the 'STAPLER' store in City Center, and obvious play on the "Staples" store franchise) or sometimes not at all (like the Incubus Dance Club in Downtown). The car display area in Downtown, near the Mystic Bookstore, is another odd place with very little done with it; I believe Steel Commando can spawn there during ye olde Steel Commando/Mechassassin evente.

I still belong to the 'Mechassassin' chat channel, you know. Sometimes fun to see who else never left. Maybe one day we'll see Steel Commando again, though Mechassassin's got his full-time job as an Alert boss.
It makes sense, if you don't think about it.

Thanks everyone for the info. :)

It's too bad that this building has just one (random) mission attached to it - and a museum mission at that. Seems like that mission could have easily been tied to the existing Museum and freed this building up for something else.

It looks very prominent - like it should be the court house building (although I know there is a court room in the City Hall) or possibly the central MC Library or something along those lines.

Maybe in the future the dev team will reassign the current 'help a citizen' mission attached to it to the main museum and make this building one of the above (along with an interior ala this thread:arcgames.com/en/forums/championsonline/#/discussion/comment/12702391 ) :)

Hell, I'd just be happy to have "Help a Citizen" missions be granted at all levels (or at least 40). Maybe add a Qnite or SCR reward, too. Just give me something to do that doesn't involve Rampage bosses and dying a lot

I dunno... I kinda think it's annoying when those NPCs run up and open a quest window in my face. Maybe that's only cause I know the mission they're offering me isn't particularly interesting.

The mission that uses this building is a level 22 mission called Book Wyrms and you get it from your Crime Computer if you have a hide out.

So it is a Library!! Well, sort of....

It only has three rooms - the first of which has all the bookcases (pictured above). The other two rooms are standard 'museum' rooms having a bunch of displays with 3 books each just sitting on the ground and a few level 22 DEMON mobs.

It would be very easy to truly turn this into the city library by simply changing the mission text. Where is says 'museum' just substitute 'library' and add a line that the DEMON clowns took the books back to the antiquities exhibit rooms currently on loan from the museum (or just populate those rooms with more bookshelves  )

Special thanks to GH for the confirmation! o:)

No problem Captain, I saw this thread a while back, and NextNameTaken's comment sparked something in the back of my head, but usually I level with the double XP bonus and so I haven't been forced to use the crime computer in a long time. So, as a result, I had nothing to add at that time. However leveling a foxbat homage without that bonus for FoxbatCon has left resorting to doing far more missions they I usually do. When I got this mission I though I should confirm earlier fuzzy recollections.
