I recently purchased a hover tank for my soldier character, only to find out that it flies. Not exactly what I was going for in getting a tank.
So my suggestion, then, is to introduce more conventional vehicles into the game, like cars, trucks, motorcycles and helicopters. Yes, even big tracked tanks.
I know, it would require a LOT of work and so we may never see this, but it's on my wish list. A cannon-packing motorcycle, like the one in the basement hideout? Totally cool.

Regardless of your belief, lockboxes is what helps keeps this game running. That being said, ground vehicles are unlikely to appear due to limitations of said engine.

Anyway, the engine can't handle ground vehicles as they don't tilt with the ground (NPC vehicles can follow properly only pre-determined waypoints and even with them "properly" can be a stretch at times).
I think out of your suggestion only helicopters are doable, if you can live with propellers turning unbelievably slow.
But like everyone else said, the game engine can't handle it. Wheeled vehicles have been requested a lot, but we've been told quite a few time they won't be coming. Also, there's terrain issues too. Imagine trying to maneuver a big wheeled vehicle on Monster Island or underwater in Lemuria.
Flying vehicles were a practical compromise. They can travel anywhere with no terrain limitations.
It's not that they won't be coming, just right now the engine wasn't made for it, and it's unlikely to get updated in the near future. It's possible that later on things may change, if/when Champs gets more funding due to more players, but I think to get that we need to start having the players promote CO.

It isn't. This senseless bemoaning of lockboxes has gone past ridiculous at this point.

There is one thing I'm unsure about, though... if we can have Hoverboard TPs, why not a Motorcycle TP? It should function similarly, except as a land-based TP like Superspeed or the like. I can't help but feel like that wouldn't be impossible, given how TPs already work. It seems like a plausible means to implement that sort of thing.
