Huh? It takes the same amount of time to maximize one character regardless if you are using one character to farm the GCR or several.
for now yes, but we don't know what other sources of GCR there might be in the future. It's entirely possible that some methods of obtaining GCR will me much faster than others, and being character bound prevents everyone from just ignoring those other methods in favor of just spamming the fastest on multiple characters ( which again disadvantages people with fewer characters and makes you feel like the only way to focus on improving one character is to have as many characters as possible, which is butt booty backwards ).
This is btw likely why SCR is character-bound as well. To avoid people doing the same with SCR. The reason some SCR methods are faster than others? It's so that you alti-itis people don't feel left out.. since you can still do the method where you do the fastest sources on a bunch of characters, and in the long run still get more rewards faster.
PS - people are focusing a lot on the big-ticket rewards from the Recognition vendors, but remember that there are rewards that cost very little as well. I still play all my characters, and get Recog on all of them - the non-TA characters just spend their stuff on the mod boxes. Maybe we should start a thread where we suggest some ideas for cheaper things to add to the recog vendors?
My hero, Caspar, was a Specialist and ran TA about 10~ times before going freeform. One of those runs was in Elite mode because I forgot to change it and we killed a boss before we figured out why Grond was so hard. We completed elite TA in the first week (I started game February 1st, 2016). After freeform, I was PBR + Mini Gun and managed to fully tank Grond twice so far because the tank could not hold aggro from me.

I was chatting in Zone last night and this came up:
Could a squishy sniper DPS contribute in TA? Would they either die way too often or simply not deliver enough DPS? "Squishy sniper DPS" means: * no Con SS * superstats chosen and stacked for maximum damage with Sniper Rifle * primary gear not stacked with Con * Ranged DPS role, with passive to match * Concentration or AotM for toggle
I tried bringing a super-squishy healer into TA, and he got killed repeatedly to the point where he couldn't do enough healing.

Sniper rifle doesn't have great dps and your charging would be interrupted fairly frequently by incidental damage, needing to block, or needing to move. You wouldn't be completely useless but it wouldn't be something I'd recommend either.
Yes, a squishy sniper dps could contribute in TA. It would be a difficult play style due to them having to deal with interruptions a lot ( tho if I was in the party on my healer I would make sure to bubble them frequently to help out ), but it would certainly be doable and I would consider them a meaningful contributor.

Healers are a different case from dps. DPS can keep the boss targeted, which allows them to avoid the situations that most often see healers getting floored in TA. The only place you would really notice your squishiness other than that is in Gravitar, and that's only if you're not getting out of bubbles quick enough.

So can healers most of the time. If you use options->assist target on attack, you can target the boss and your heals will hit his current target. This doesn't help much in Teleios because you aren't trying to heal the tank, but everything you have to block in that fight is super-obvious.

Operative phrase "most of the time". Sometimes you can't, and next thing you know those two seconds you weren't targeting Grond was when he did his AOE. Say hello to the wall at the far end of the room
