Icy Embrace and MSA are not passives- they are energy unlocks that can be taken independently of ur passive.

Two diff builds I cooked up for Might + Ice. One is Str-based, Haymaker focused for single-target, and uses the FBreath + Roomsweeper combo (Chill will cause targets t be knocked up instead of back):

The other general build is an Int & Dex- based combo blaster, using Beatdown and charged Ice Blast when Avenger Mastery procs (and Ice Wall to proc MSA). Its more of a lvl 40 build since ya have to wait till ya get Avenger Mastery before ya can fully take adv of it:

ah right energy unlocks is what i meant too say, sorry haven't played this game in a really long time:) i like the 1st build you posted a lot althouht im not sure how its going to crit too make use of all the Cirt severaty it's going to have. im gonna try it thouth im alsot lvl 26 now
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,848 Arc User
I'd still get crit rating on offensive gear when ya can. Can also take a piece of 2ndary gear w/ Dex on it- those should give you a semi-decent crit rate overall. Vindicator also boost ur attack crit rates a bit, and if ya want ya can replace Aggressor w/ Ego Surge w/ NM for more burst crit that way.

ah i see, cool the only other thing im worried about is if i have enough AOE to kill stuff with haymakers is gtart single target but is FB room and wall enought?
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,848 Arc User
Yeah they should be fine. FBreath taps (for chill) + Roomsweeper for up-close clumped mobs. Otherwise, if the mob is scattered and at ranged ya can just do full maintains of FB w/ its wider cone, and using Pounce to keep Enraged and MSA rolling while ya do that (since FB by itself won't proc those). FB allows full movement while channeling, so ya can funnel mobs into it if need be.

Looks okay, given AoPM can shore up any discrepancies in ranged/melee mix builds well. I didn't know that you wanted to use Avalanche often, but AoPM will def help you afford it.

Also, w/o MSA there's not much need for Int as a 2ndary SS here. I'd consider using Int PSS w/ AoPM builds, though- prob something like INT/Str/Con here, though still gearing mostly for Strength. Icy Embrace mostly scales w/ End, though AoPM will boost that fine enough on its own.

Lies. Icy Embrace mostly scales on Rec =). (I don't know that's mathematically true, but Rec scales enough that there's no reason to take end, and Rec is imo superior 99% of the time, especially tanks, because it allows for dropping alphastrikes with CS like Avalanche without needing to build up energy).

Lol, nah It mostly scales w/ End still, but like most EUs also w/ Rec to a much lesser degree. I usually don't gear much Rec outside of getting a bit better resting equilibrium, unless its the odd build using Rec PSS, Compassion w/o Pres, and/or Overdrive (SP EU can scale well w/ either Rec or End, or a mix of both).

Rec is okay overall if ya need another energy stat, though getting too much is a bit wasteful, imo, as it can lead to energy-capping more. If ur using a high energy generation power, like Defiance, End is typically better as it can lessen the amount ya energy-cap, leaving you more energy to work with.

I usually only gear enough Rec to fill or near fill my energy bar, because anything beyond that is wasted. But it means that its a SSS with only one of 9 mods dedicated to it typically. And that means i can split the other 8 mods between the other two.

I haven't been able to justify Rec PSS ever. The one great spec, which reduces cd, doesn't seem like enough oomph to justify burning the PSS on Rec. Especially when a lot of the times I'd have any interest in that benefit aren't toons that want/need Rec at all.

End, otoh, i've only ever used as a PSS for my PA tank, because the primary spec tree makes PA Toggles work really well.

Also, I'm pretty sure Defiance's energy gain specifically scales on Rec.
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,848 Arc User
Defiance's energy gain is based off of Con (just like its dmgRes buff)- weird, cause it should be SS's that do that for a passive slot, but Defiance is unlike the other passives.

just too let you know im running Pss str with dex and Con SS's im no dps expart but i think Avavalance + R.Sweeper+ haymaker is more dps then WoIce+F.bearth+ R.S+ haymaker. but too be far FB with Adv and Icy Embarce give me all the energy i need. im kinda torn caz Avlace seems better but i think Wall of ice can give out the same dps but in a much smaller spare, i only have it at R1 and its doing about the same damage as Avalance did at R3 at lvl 27. so yeah idk

Lotsa ways to build Ice + Earth. Ranged is prob stronger for it, but ya can play it close-range or melee too.

    Here's a ranged one:

    Powers:

Level 1: Ice Blast (Rank 2, Hard Frost)

    Intelligence: Detect Vulnerability (3/3)
    Intelligence: Expertise (2/2)
    Avenger: Ruthless (2/2)
    Avenger: Round 'em Up (3/3)

    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Avenger Mastery (1/1)

Many variants, though (this one uses Avenger to take a break from Guardicator; Blast -> Cave In Ice Wall for MSA). Will depend one what attacks ya like or want to utilize between the powersets.

Looks alright, though I'd prob replace Wall of Ice w/ Frostbreath w/ its adv- the AoE Chill is a nice combo w/ Roomsweeper, and gives you an AoE w/ better reach to work with. How is ur energy when using Haymaker?
