Demon Hunter: Infernal Chains & Shotgun Build

I had been looking for something different to retcon an older creation into. I stumbled accross this old Youtube Video .

Spamming buffed shotgun blasts and whipping my enemies with chains sounded like fun. However, I wanted to put my own spin on it. Then it dawned on me to try the Infernal framework.

Since my creation has a back-story of being 1/2 demon and 1/2 human - it was a perfect fit. This build is having a little trouble with energy. However, that can be fixed with spec tree and mod tweaking.

Shotgun Blast is great fun and Vicious Cyclone makes short work of most mobs. I ran MI crisis solo with this build and it went smoothly. Also I jumped into various alerts and held my own - even w/o being optimally modded.

The idea of building around Shotgun Blast and Chains is brilliant - and I have to give credit to @judgeb0t. I can visualize a variety of ways a shotgun centered build could work. Curious people should check out the original thread.

My build also exchanges some self-heal powers for two of the damage buffs. This added more survival - which was important to me. This build is a huge aggro magnet - so be prepared for that. Since it's a retcon I'm not sure how it would level. So check the original thread for @judgeb0t's feedback about that.

    Hah, a shotgun spam build.

I'd do it just cause its hilarious (albeit annoying for teammates). Never really thought about making a build around it, but if I had to use the chain powers too I'd pick a lariat- cause its fun to knock em away and rope em back in.. only to knock them away again.

Shotgun's base single-target dps is still pretty bad, but that's a small price for the entertainment value. Frag grenade also added for the lulz.

    Oh wow that's impressive.

    Does Shotgun help stack Quarry?

if so that could be very interesting.

That's great people are still talking about this build from time to time. I still run El Osso. He is taking down the Demon Brotherhood set to five man team, elite and is never in any danger, in the video you linked.

Here is the write up and discussion of the build:http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/championsonline/#/discussion/242445/super-shotgun-build-reloaded

In that thread is a link to the FIRST guy to run the shotgun build as well. Lots of ideas in these threads.

Its fun to shotgun stuff around, so its only fitting we give the boomstick its own builds where its the prime star- even if our teammates may hate all the KBs :p Ash would be proud (I hope).

W/ the new power changes ya can make ur shotty hit harder w/ Burst Shot's debuff. Add that in for 15% more awesome.

Targeting Computer is also a good passive for Shotgun now that its LockOn debuff has been fixed to work properly, but then ya prob don't really want the EGO/Int/Con SS setup in my old build above (that's fit for Quarry's Audacity)

More than fun, the build I posted rocks the damage with all of the active offense. This is the data from a rampage, mission or something. He did 50% of all of the damage on the board, while not taking much in return. He outdamaged all of the badguys combined.

where did you get that information about DPS?
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,887 Arc User
560 dps isn't really that great :x But I dunno the full context for that parse, since there coulda been a lot of dps downtime or something. Shotgun won't be great for sustained dps on bosses, but w/ TC and a dps build using Burst Shot's debuff, it can be alright.
