edited March 2016 in PTS - The Archive
This build will be available at 2pm PST.

The Nightmare Invasion
Strange otherworldly creatures have started invading Millennium City, and you need to stop them! A mysterious stranger called Golden Seraph has appeared in Renaissance Center, pleading for assistance in stopping this invasion.

Talk to Golden Seraph in Renaissance Center to learn more about the event missions and special rewards.

Nightmare Colossus Boss Fight
Three orbs heal the Nightmare Colossus during the fight. These orbs must be manually shut down and will come back up after 30 seconds.

The Nightmare Colossus will use a pbaoe attack every minute:
If you block the attack, you take 10% damage.
If you don't block the attack, you take 30% damage and 40% damage over 12 seconds.
Onslaught villains take 50% damage.
Non players/OS villains take 60% damage and 50% over 10 seconds.
Attack has a 3.5 second charge time.

Costumes
The Rocker costume and two guitars for Heavy Weapons have been added to the debugger for testing. This is for an upcoming Lockbox.
There is a skull themed guitar heavy weapon freely available to players.
Known issues: The textures are still being worked on for this set.
The female jacket's cape collision is not yet finalized

Golden Seraph has animal skull costumes as well as some familiar NPC costumes now available to players.
Known issues: The skull costumes are currently male only and the textures are unfinished. The NPC costumes are currently female only.

Added Shadow and Sparkle hair to the debugger.
Added shadow materials to the questionite store.

Level 8: Guard
Level 11: Arc of Ruin or Hyper Voice
Level 14: Enrage
Level 17: Annihilate
Level 21: Absorb Heat
Level 25: Thermal Reverberation
Level 30: Aggressor or Brimstone
Level 35: Resurgence or Vicious Descent
Level 40: Unleashed Rage
Known issues: The Rocker does not have a costume yet.

The Void has a new power order:
Level 1: Shadow Bolt
Level 1: Shadow Blast
Level 6: Shadow Embrace
Level 8: Shadow Form or Aura of Ebon Destruction
Level 11: Grasping Shadows or Soul Vortex
Level 14: Concentration
Level 17: Ebon Void
Level 21: Ebon Ruin
Level 25: Spirit Reverberation
Level 30: Shadow Shroud
Level 35: Lifedrain or Summon Shadows
Level 40: Ebon Rift or Void Horror

Power Changes

Darkness Framework
New Power: Soul Vortex
Deals Dimensional damage over time and has a chance to apply Fear to targets.
Advantage: Soul Drain. Soul Vortex now applies Dependency to targets once it expires.
This power will be free to freeform players.

Lifedrain
Vampiric Sympathy advantage now has a 20ft radius (from 15ft).

Grasping Shadows
New Advantage: Applies a heal over time to allies near you based on how many targets you hit.
New Advantage: Void. Grasping shadows now applies the Trauma debuff to all targets.

Dark Blast
Now debuffs Dimensional resistance by 18%.

Ebon Ruin
No longer applies Trauma.
In place of this effect Ebon Ruin now has a chance to summon a shadow pet. This pet heals you for double the damage it deals.
The dot on Ebon Ruin is now called Despair and applies when you fully charge the power. Can stack up to 3 times.
Paranormal Paranoia advantage no longer debuffs resistance. It now gives Ebon Ruin a 30-100% chance based on charge time to fear targets.

Ebon Void
Voracious Darkness advantage now costs 3 points to place it in line with other advantages of its type.
Voracious Darkness now caps out at 5 stacks.

Celestial Framework
New Power: Holy Water
This power can be purchased from Golden Seraph.
When targeting a foe deals dimensional damage over time. If they are illuminated can cause them to be disoriented.
When targeting an ally applies a heal over time. If they are illuminated helps them break free from control effects.
Has an advantage that applies power over time to allies or drains power from foes.

Fire Framework
New Power: Absorb Heat
Absorb Heat consumes all of your Clinging Flames on foes and heals you and your team based on the number consumed.
This power also applies a heal over time based on the number of clinging flames consumed.
This power will be free to freeform players.

Firesnake
Debuff no longer scale with rank. It now provides a flat -3% res to elemental damage and -5% res to fire damage per stack. Firesnake now stacks up to 3 times per player and has a global cap of 9 stacks.
Firesnake's chance to apply clinging flames is now 10% at R1, 20% at R2, and 30% at R3. Lowered Firesnake's cooldown to 25 seconds (from 30).

Clinging Flames
Duration increased to 12 seconds (from 8).
Damage increased slightly.

Might Framework
New Power: Hyper Voice
Cone Sonic based attack that disorients foes.
Has an advantage that lowers sonic damage resistance.
This power will be free to freeform players.

Heavy Weapons Framework
Cleave
No longer applies Enrage.
Has an increasing chance to apply knockdown as you progress through the combo.
Has a chance to apply Clinging Flames.
Lowered damage variance so the damage is more consistent.
Arc increase to 360 degrees for the first two hits. Arc reduced to 50 degrees for the third hit.
Damage increased slightly.
New Advantage: Cleave now applies Great Power which is an Offense buff.

Note: Damage variance is how high or low a power's damage can swing. Example: A power that deals 100 damage that has a power variance of 10% can deal as high as 110 damage or as low as 90 damage. Lowering the variance on a power makes its damage more reliable, but does not change its overall output.

Annihilate
New Advantage: Scorching Blade Annihilate deals an additional 30% damage against targets affected by clinging flames.
Damage increased slightly.

Earth Splitter
Now has a 42-100% chance based on charge time to apply Clinging Flames.
No longer applies Enrage.
Now applies an offense boost. This can stack up to 3 times.

Arc of Ruin
Lowered damage variance so the damage is more consistent.
Arc increased to 360 degrees.
Now has a 42-100% chance to apply Disorient based on charge time.
No Quarter advantage now debuffs Crushing damage by 15% and fire damage by 15%.
The No Quarter debuff now has a global cap of 3
Arc of Ruin now has the Wildfire advantage which refreshes all Clinging Flames.

Vicious Decent
Lowered damage variance so the damage is more consistent.
Now deals split fire and crushing damage.
No longer applies Enrage.
Now applies an offense boost. This can stack up to 3 times.

Eruption
No longer refreshes Enrage.
Now has a 320 degree arc.
Increased cooldown to 5 seconds.
Now deals split fire and crushing damage.
Increased Magma Burst's chance to apply Clinging Flames to 30%.

Skullcrusher
Now deals split fire and crushing damage.
Has a 50-100% chance to apply Disorient.

Skewer
No longer applies Enrage.
Now has a 22-50% chance to apply Bleed.
Known issues: Currently displays as 50-100%.

Misc
Updated descriptions on the Force Sheathe and Laser Knight advantages to state what they actually do. This is just a description change.
Advanced Hyperkinetic Dampening System vehicle weapon now counts as being in blocking mode when used.
Fixed a bug where Chest Beam's -res was not set to its proper value of 12%.
TK Assault's hit fx no longer scales to target.

Device Changes
Lowered cooldowns of some devices:
Waterballoon Crate: 300 seconds
Dragon Staff: 120 seconds

You can now equip multiples of Necrullitic Elixir. (The effect does not stack)

Hrr. Another sonic power in the game is good, but it seems to have almost no synergy with might (the debuff combines with Unleashed Rage). Guitar heavy weapons may force me to rebuild my tank (who has had a guitar backpiece since creation in 2010 or so).

Suggestion: Please make Firesnake Trigger Concetration-Chilled Form
Its a range power like wall of ice after all (same suggestion for Ball Lighting and Dust Devil, they don't trigger Concetration-Chilled Form)

Will Absorb Heat scale with PRE and Bonus Healing? And yes it would be REALLY NICE if Inferno GOT IT! Throw a bone to the Dog, help your squishy AT to survive!

Void getting Aura of Ebon Destruction is really interesting, the AT is now a true counterpart to Grimoire
and those new ADVs for Grasping Shadows hmmm

I wish the VOID got EVEN MORE powe choices like Specialist
This Update will basically BUFF my Necromancer-Life Drain character
    Ebon Void
Voracious Darkness advantage now costs 3 points to place it in line with other advantages of its type.
Voracious Darkness now caps out at 5 stacks.

Fair Enough! only used it on 4 characters anyway, 3 of which never even needed it
What will happen to the users who owned that power? do they get a free RetCon? or it will just go POOF like TGM?

so, now that we're getting at heals. can they be slotted into existing AT's at about level 19?There's a gap there

    sounds familiar
one of my normal builds is HW + Earth with resurgence
Heavy weapons guitar- WOOTT, Roc Kerr can have her guitar weapon. who uses that build.
ooh Life Drain- my favourite heal- now has a larger area.
oh good someone thought to make Necrullic elixir non stackable, so it won't get hit mightily with the nerfbat.

    HW/
As nice as it is to see HW getting attention, there's a lot of 'now its different' without much 'now its better'. The whole powerset was underperforming, it could have used more of a boost. Fewer powers that root during charge, for example, or more damage on Annihilate (no, the new advantage doesn't help if its a 2pt advantage, because it trades off with ranking which afaict adds *base damage*, and is thus a superior boost. It would need to be like 50% from the advantage to even hope to compete, and even then it gets eaten by diminishing returns).

Don't get me wrong, the 'different' opens up a fire/crushing hybrid build option, at least a little bit (now we need fire sword skins), but it doesn't do much of anything for straight HW toons.

And Cleave, like most combos, doesn't do enough damage. I'll have to see the Great Power boost, but I'm guessing it still doesn't do enough damage. My devastator simply removed it from her power tray because it added nothing to the AT. Barring Great Power being amazing, I can't foresee that changing, and even if it is amazing it might not change anything cause you'd have to use cleave for 3 strikes regularly. FFs will likely not even take it in the first place.

Arc of Ruin's No Quarter advantage becoming specific to crushing and fire is not surprising, but is sad. Why does cryptic hate general damage type resistance debuffs so much? You're killing cross-powerset hybrids with these types of changes, to little-to-no benefit to those who were already staying within damage type.

On the plus side: Guitar HW skin! I've wanted that for a long long time. May need to rework a character or two.

    Darkness/
I honestly don't understand the Trauma move. Especially since it did just move to a different darkness power.

The resistance debuff becoming dimensional specific makes me sad, for reasons similar to the Arc of Ruin change.

I'm not sure how big of a deal the lifedrain change is, but i approve. Lifedrain probably still needs a little help though. Like making it actually benefit from all the heal-specific specs, and not just the ones which reduce casting cost. (iirc from testing things - i know the bonus crit chance for heals doesn't work on it despite being flagged as a heal).

    sonic/
    Yay! But might?

Absorb Heat, Soul Vortex...both could not have come at a better time. Honestly.

Also I hope that somewhere along the line we see more sonic based powers and musical weapon animation points

And this becomes the new PvP :P

For the Rocker theme, it seems like Howl would fit nicely. It has something of a problem in that Howl is currently a bad power (anyone likely to much benefit from Enrage already has it), but I would like to see Howl made more usable anyway. Frenzy perhaps, though one stack of Frenzy isn't very impressive either.

    Powers:
    Very cool stuff.
The pvp crowd is going to have something to say about the Trauma move, but every one at least suspected that that would happen....

I am both excited and terrified to see what happens when the team finally gets around to adjusting powers in my build.

    The Event:
Sounds cool but the patch notes don't explain how the event works. more on this later.

    PVP is starving without rewards

    1. Please give us Daily PVP missions that reward Questionite.
    2. Please give us an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition so that PVP has access to all "On Alert" PVE rewards.

Sounds fun. I hope the Retcons fall like rain, though, as these are pretty fundamental changes to some very popular powers......

I very much like the Trauma addition to Grasping Shadows (which is my favourite hold power given that it actually works) but... will the Trauma effect be applied to enemies not affected by the hold? Not sure I can work that out on PTS....!

You might wind up with a forced retcon if you have devouring darkness, since a 1p advantage turning into a 3p advantage will make your build illegal.

Please consider giving "absorb heat" to the inferno.

All the other changes.. jaw drops!!!!

    New AT.... jaw drops again!

So some subjective feedback. We are getting a lot of fundamental power changes. So maybe lower the cost of retcons during this entire power re-balancing phase of things? Or perpaps a way to earn retcon tokens in game or even sell them for SCR or GCR at a vendor?

    Another suggestion....

Maybe hold a contest for players to design a costume for the Rocker AT? I think that would be fun. And it might help excite the player base a bit in a positive way.

terror siphons- look like a deep blue tornado- has elder worms xome out
Unstable portals- have a horde of the other baddies inclduing at least 1 Nightmare demolisher.
Other portal- 3 large uglys- all of which have throw rocks, at least 1 has demolisher stomp. plus 2 or more casters.

Demolisher stomp- does damage, yanks you to the demolisher, which means into the middle fo the mobs. knocks you down and turns off your TP.
    Then everything else hits you

Oh God, I know. My most retconned toon is a Fighting Claws/Poison/Darkness build. 5 retcons and counting. I just got it working perfectly and now they've done all... this. I could cry. It's been in the Training area since 2014. If it carries on any longer they'll have to make "Escape from the Powerhouse" a new Alert type.

It did provide a big damage boost to any build that relied on elemental damage (not just fire). Not surprised this got adjusted.

Heavy Weapon changes are... interesting. Removing the "grants enraged when" from powers isn't too surprising, nor do I miss that much as enrage builds off knocks easily enough. I'm a bit lukewarm on adding fire damage to be a major component of the set. I'd rather those were advantages or such so I could just swing a plain ol' giant sword/axe/bludgeon without having some mystic/sci-fi/etc special effect. I have a toon that's a more or less a barbarian and most of her HW powers avoid the fire aspect.

Soul vortex finally a power. +100 points

HW getting a lot of changes but no actual improvement so far. Only really negatively effects pre-existing builds with the new split damage types on more powers. -50 points

If we end up at least getting heavy weapons into the same ballpark as dual or single blade, you guys can make up for and gain a bunch more points.

However, now I have to switch back to wasting my time and energy on using EBB on Sanguine and lose one of her sorrow themed powers with the Ebon ruin changes. Ahwell.

Soul Vortex is awesome to look at, but I think its overall damage is lacking, which is ok considering what it does.

HW, for the most part, on paper, the changes don't look like much, in practice those attacks are hitting slightly stronger with Unstoppable, mostly because the fire damage is considered melee damage for these attacks, and thus gets buffed by unstoppable. Cleave especially feels better overall than it does on live. In short, if you are not using Unstoppable or Night Warrior as your passive with HW attacks, you are doing it wrong.

I've also noticed that the screech power of those vultures on MI is what the Hyper Voice is modeled after, and it hits fairy hard enough.

I also, I hope to go that the repeatable missions for the event just have place holder rewards, for at getting only 1 coin from each mission, three repeatable, one not, it appears, thats only four coins per day, with everything being 100 or more, that's 20 days worth of grinding for costumes and auras, and we'll just not talk about the Void AT, the Holy Water power, or the two vehicles. So I hope that there are other ways to get the coins, or the missions will be buffed to give more.

Cleave applies Clinging flames. Why does the ability to hit more than one target cause fire damage?
Vicious Decent applies flame damage. Why does leaping at a target cause fire damage?

Nightwarrior always unless you already have a DU core. But still, losing out on demolish+adv. full charge debuffs on half the damage for even more powers in HW is what I'm mostly weary of.

I'd like for us to keep having cross set synergy. Needs less total killing of it.

The Seraph Vehicle has a engine VFX at a point where there is none:

Also, I noticed that either Fire Snake or Clinging Flames was showing on the Nightmare Colossus.

Priliminary testing doesn't show HW being even close to other melee sets.
This is on a quickly slapped together DPS build, using my tanky gear, so don't mind the dps being slightly low.

Yeah, HW can use a buffing, not just a retooling. Also your chart also shows how powerful bleed is compared to clinging flame.

Also, there might be a bug with Absorb Heat not working right, as I was not being healed when I would absorb my clinging flame of the Nightmare Colossus. In fact, I did not see my clinging flame be consumed at all.

Guitar HW skin!!! And now the return of Death Metal (a name I used a long time before the generic "Nem" - I first created him in the hopes that the Guitar Axe would be among the proposed HW skins to come to fruition back in the day).

Multiplev guitar skins??? And my cup runneth over...

Hrr. Another sonic power in the game is good, but it seems to have almost no synergy with might (the debuff combines with Unleashed Rage). Guitar heavy weapons may force me to rebuild my tank (who has had a guitar backpiece since creation in 2010 or so).

Might has two other sonic powers (Thunderclap and Shockwave). My sonic toon will pick this up, too.
