Teleios Ascendant run (Off-Tank Perspective)

This is going to be really dull to watch for some but if you want to have an idea how to handle the adds with Gravitar, Grond and Teleios, this should give you some ideas. Full on Regeneration tank for doing it. Video is 37:18 long for those that are curious. Medusa fight starts at around 6 minute mark, if you want to skip ahead. Team members consist of;

So... basically it just needs general awareness. From what I'm seeing, it's mostly just adds and maybe one mechanic per boss, which isn't too hard.

The gear is a really secondary issue to how well everyone responds to the content. it requires perfect to near perfect teamwork for a smooth run with every team member knowing whats going on.

Sounds way more intense when put that way, when in reality it seems to go like this: Off tank take adds, DPS kill boss, respond to boss mechanics=Success.

I am baffled, they are simple mechanics to understand. Avoid or block alphas, stay out of the fire, and avoid death blossom. Seems pretty basic stuff actually. The only mechanic that requires some super paying attention is the genetic siphon mechanic which is hot potato basically.

One thing, if people might have noticed, is how I set up my UI. I specifically put it to where alpha strike calls are basically right in the center of my screen. I purposely move my camera around to also survey the situation. If I was tank you would probably see a lot more camera movement.

I've had really smooth runs but just becuase you can do something difficult skillfully does not change the difficulty of the content.

My off-tank uses heroics and armadillo gear, and while the power details are way different, the result really isn't. Add management, using a proper build, is really boring, but it makes an enormous difference in the Grond and Teleios fights.

a defensive passive ( maybe ), some sort of attack, a block, and a lead brick to drop on your block button... that's basically a proper add tanking build.

I was thinking about giving this lair another shot after the horrid bugs I experienced were fixed, but that looks incredibly boring. ... wow ... Yeah, I'll wait to see if anything significantly shorter that also rewards GCR comes out in the future.

I've yet to give it a shot, but this video was horrendously boring..still, I'll do it when I come back as a Gold next week and see for myself.

Is it reasonably MT-able with a regen tank?
I say "reasonably" because with the right team setup, anything's possible. I'm asking if it works without a team tailor-made to support regen in particular.

Yes, it's quite easy. I've asked several healers constantly because I was on the fence about swapping out of regen in fact, and in every case, they've said I was a low maintenance tank compared to some other builds. So yea, you can main tank easily. I usually main tank, but Kaiserin was giving me "You need to let other people tank, Spar," speech so yea

The trick is of course being ready to block the alphas, but that should be tank 101 anyways.

I'm pretty sure I said the only "challenge" in this lair was dealing with bugs. It's not just your off tanking that looks boring. Once the adds are gone, well, the rest of the team doesn't really have much to deal with either. Compared to other games with more interesting mechanics, yeah, it looks dull. Especially at 30+ minutes of that.

I am still waiting for you to define those bugs, but then again, having mechanics at all that involve people to pay attention is something this game hasn't had in ever, and all the sudden it's boring. Again, you went from this lair is too hard, to it's boring now. And the funny part is, no one ever said the lair was challenging, outside of the crowd that keeps calling it too hard or for "elitists only" types even though we take people that are "under geared" by the "too hard" crowd standards or even ATs that can't do it supposedly or tank it or anything according to the "too hard" crowd standards. Hell I think most of us that do the lair say the only challenge is paying attention. And this lair can be done quite fast to boot, so basically it just boils down now you are just complaining to complain.

And the irony of it all, the people doing the lair calling it not hard or even that challenging are the ones constantly being called the elitists, despite taking people that do not fit the so called elite brand that is often prescribed. But the people often calling those doing the lair "elitists" often have profiles, SG rules or so forth that are very much fit the brand of elitist that others despise.

My opinion is that this probably looks "boring" because it is as clinical of a run as you could possibly do. Spar's tank is perfect for TA, and every other person in this is perfect for their role and knows how to play it well. It is hard to actually find a group like that. Usually, you will have those adds getting loose and wrecking everyone up.

Here we are looking at the top 2 tanks in the game, one of the best healers, and two DPS players that go for 5k. It is not as easy at they make it look and is usually much more hectic. No average group is going to have a run that looks this tame. This isn't a "how to" or "This could be you!" video, this is an amazing run by amazing players making it look easy.

Also a small note: Those dpsers are using a single target 2GM doing 5k... oh isn't that power getting nerfed? And is that an Ebon Void shield I see being used... wasn't that rumored to be getting a pass soon as well? And both tanks using Shred? :P

Time depends on:
- How many people are new
- How many people have learning disabilities
- How many people are big whiny babbies
