  A DDoS isn't going to crash the actual game. It might crash the login server (but it hasn't); the game itself would still be fine.
  
  No, this is either a server crash, or an emergency shutdown. This isn't @Neverwintergod and his shenanigans. There was a patch earlier today, and this might be related.

  I actually have a character concept which is basically a college freshman who transforms into a superpowered 5 year old when angry and has tantrum powers.

  Obviously a freak accident caused a dev to get sucked into Millennium City when they accidentally spilled their soda on the server and the other devs now have to go in to save them. The problem is: YOU DIE IN THE GAME, YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE.
