Frustration

I have been trying to create a new character for two days now. Every time I get to the end of the creation process and try to go to the tutorial I get the message "Character Creation Failed", and get dumped out to the log in screen.

Now here is the frustration: I saved the costume (OK, I saved it the second time thru...) and thought that this would speed me though the process (it did, a lot) and let me create this character before I got the boot. WRONG! Instead, now the system is telling me that the costume is using un-owned costume parts and I need to pay for the costume. The one I just finished building using only free parts. Soooo...

I tried shutting down the game (and ARC) then signing in again. And once again it "Failed" and dumped me. And on the second try wanted Zen. And on and on and on...

If I take the time to build the costume from scratch something times out. If I use the saved costume it charges me. This is FRUSTRATION!

Thanks for listening to my rant, and we now return you to your regularly scheduled forums.

    Have you tried this:

Make a character using generic appearance, literally do not change anything.

Then load the saved costume once the game puts you in the Power House.

Try "hide and remove unowned costume parts?"

This is an old - and as you note, incredibly frustrating - bug.

The way it works is this: when you first sign in via the launcher, several z-store sets will pretend that you already own them, even if you don't. If you try to use parts you don't actually have purchased, you get exactly the unhelpful error message & disconnect you described.

@Kaizerin - any chance of a fix for this one? It's a really nasty issue that makes new players especially want to quit without giving the game a chance.

morigosa: I didn't know about this bug. I thought when I went gold (a very nice Christmas present) I got access to so much I just thought that those were parts I had access to automatically. Now I don't know (but will be trying to find out).

roughbearmattach: Not yet, but that is a good idea. Will be trying that tonight along with checking that I really do have access to those costume parts.

    Bye (for now)

morigosa: You were right! I tried to use an existing character to make the costume, and all the "Victorian" parts are not owned. This bug is truly frustrating. Any chance I could up-vote this for a fix?
