Little Bitty Kitty: Team Support (help, please?)

edited January 2016 in Builds and Roles
Below is the character design, but here is the synopsis: A healer with lots of team boosts and moderate offense.

Note that I used the Talents to augment many of the non-super stats, allowing for (a little bit) better effects from the off stats.

A three way support, using three different Support Passives (each with its own build) to help out the team in three different ways.
Aura of Primal Majesty to boost the teams stats.
Aura of Radiant Protection to boost the teams defense.
Aura of Ebon Destruction to boost the teams offense.

Also note the Sentry and Sentinel Auras from Specializations.

My questions regarding this build are:
  1. Would the DPS from Celestial Conduit be close to that of Lightning Arc? (note that CC gets bonuses from Compassion)
  2. Is the heal from CC close to that of Psionic Healing? (note that Compassion boosts both)
  3. Is the healing from the drones effected by Compassion and/or bonus healing?
  4. Are the drones effected by any of the Auras? (that effect the "team") (would other pets also be effected?)
  5. Plus of course any suggestions you may have are always welcome.

Thanks in advance.

If I were to run a multi-build character as Support, I'd prob switch off between AoRP and AoPM; the latter more for offense, former for defense. Both can be nice, and in groups w/ another support that has one of the auras already ya can swap to the other one- but since ur using Conduit normally I'd make ur default passive AoPM for the extra energy. AoED is best used to boost pet master builds (too niche for allies imo), and AoAC is also more niche in the types of builds it helps.

If you are taking Conduit + Illumination, then the special adv on Illumination is much more worthwhile than a normal rank. Mental Storm's dps is getting lowered, so its use as an independent tack-on power is going to be more limited. If ya want a debuff more fitting to Dimensional builds, then Ebon Ruin w/ ParaPara adv is nice to have. Ascension's large group heal is also going to be removed, so ya may want to consider a diff power (maybe a self-res like CoRG or Rebirth).

    As far as the questions:

    1. LArc is more reliable as a ST dps attack, but Conduit can also be good dps as long as ur pulsing it to get extra ticks out (LArc will also do 20% less dps w/o Negative Ions).

    2. Conduit is one of the highest hps heals out there, so it has better burst healing than a regular heal like Psionic; the main downside is its energy cost. I generally wouldn't use both, unless ya want Rebuke or Psionic for >50ft healing.

    3. No. Pets scale quite differently than most other powers or players. See the Petco link in my sig for more info.

    4. Yes.

flowcyto: Again, thanks for the info! Especially about the upcoming changes.

With Mental Storm I was looking more for an AoE Root/Incapacitate than a debuff. Any suggestions?

Psionic Healing was for the (possible) greater healing. Might look into an AoE damage here (maybe get a two for one that has good damage and a root...). Maybe Lightning Storm w/Stolen Thunder...

Ascension was for the healing buffs, but with part of that going bye bye, than I will be probably be looking into a self res.

So, that would leave me still looking into something to replace Lightning Arc & Aura of Ebon Destruction.

Maybe one of the other pets (Summon Shadows?) or a direct shield (Protection Field?). Have to sleep on this before I post anything final.

Again, thanks flowcyto. You are one of the best.

Yeah any of those powers ya mentioned could be good, but for various reasons. It'll kinda just depend on how ya want to play (less attacks but more support_utility avail vs. more attacks but less overall utility, priorities of dps vs. healing vs. survival, etc).

There's not too many AoE CCs, but ur build currently isn't really a hold-base debuff build.. based on its specs. Ya can change that, though, if ya want to have the debuffs and more CC (against non-bosses) over more personal dps or healing boosts. Many of the better powers for procing them are cd-based, so its harder to roll those short-duration debuffs w/ the CDR nerf, but still feasible. A spammable AoE one that is magical and covers some of them is Vengeance or Condemn w/ special adv. That could work for Vulnerability, Wither, Sent Mastery, and be boosted by Sentry's Stalling Tactics (though the AoE is a stun, so it'll not proc Vuln or Trapped on 2ndary targets- but stuns are generally better for CC vs. trash anyways, due to not breaking early to inc dmg; you'd still get all of the effects on the primary target).

So I made many of the changes you suggested, just not always the way you suggested...

I went with the Vengeance w/Redemption Denied advantage (for the Paralyze and Stun effects as well as the Vulnerability debuff, which should work against Bosses!).

For more flexibility with the damage type (oh alright, just for s***s & giggles) I also went for Lightning Storm w/Stolen Thunder, which should act as an AoE interrupt. (can this knock down effect bosses?)

Added the self res (Circle of Radiant Glory), late in the build, should help in boss fights. (some descriptions of this list healing and/or protection, others do not. Any facts on this?)

And from left field we have Summon Shadows, which should help against mobs.

Now for things I want to do, but am unsure of...
Move Illumination down to a (much) lower level (level 8 or 11 maybe?).
Would the Sigils of Radiant Sanctuary be effective enough against Bosses to make them worth while?
Adding a shield/direct protection power? (If so, what?)
I had thought of adding Ego Surge w/Nimble Mind to boost both Crit-dmg & Crit-heal, but not sure if this effects healing. (but not really a deal breaker, seeing as Ego is my dmg stat, and Con is also SS).

Next was the 6 remaining advantage points, which I am at my wits end where to put them. I want them everywhere, but then change my mind and don't want this or that, so I am asking for advice, please?

And finally, my wife reminded me that I have not mentioned the theme I going for.
Basically a Two-Faced angel. Guardian Angel on one side, Angel of Vengeance on the other. Thus all of the support, but also some actual DPS. I hope that makes some of my choices clearer.

Bye for now. And always, thanks flowcyto.

PS: I finally made the forums post my "Export" correctly. YEAH!!!

Since you already have some AoE in Vengeance and Conduit + Illumination, ya dun really need something like Lightning Storm. Although, if ya want to keep it for the theme/visual, it can still be alright just have a quick knockdown.

Celestial Cleansing may be more useful in PvE to try out. It's slated to debuff enemy dmg w/ the new power changes, which could be nice for boosting team defenses, and thematically would work w/ this build (general alternative to that is Shadow of Doubt or Ego Sleep w/ adv, which does that better, but are less thematic perhaps). I'd try it out as ur offensive MSA trigger (can use summon shadows instead just fine, though).

Ranking up CoRG increases the amount of health it reses you with if you die in it, and the AoE heal it does when you place it. Its not a high priority to rank it up, unless ya want to use it as a sort of AoE heal. Radiant Sigils can be decent for the build; could go in the general slot that shadows or cleansing or SoD/Sleep would be- though I'd prob still take one of the other powers over them (as sigils are a bit inflexible).

Here's how I'd revamp the build a bit- trying to keep most of the power choices the same:

    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Presence (Primary)
    Level 10: Intelligence (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents:
    Level 1: Divinity
    Level 6: Healthy Mind
    Level 9: Shrug It Off
    Level 12: Diplomatic
    Level 15: Boundless Reserves
    Level 18: Prodigy
    Level 21: Investigator

    Powers:
    Level 1: Radiance
Level 1: Celestial Conduit (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 6: Vengeance (Rank 2, Redemption Denied)
Level 8: Aura of Primal Majesty (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Compassion
    Level 14: Illumination (Brilliance)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Aura of Radiant Protection (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 23: Molecular Self-Assembly
Level 26: Celestial Cleansing (Rank 2)
Level 29: Redemption (Rank 2, Salvation)
Level 32: Force Shield (Rank 2, Force Sheathe)
Level 35: Lightning Storm (Stolen Thunder)
Level 38: Circle of Radiant Glory

    Travel Powers:
    Level 6: Flight (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Athletics (Rank 2)

    Specializations:
    Presence: Repurpose (1/3)
    Presence: Selfless Ally (2/2)
    Presence: Dominion (2/2)
    Presence: Moment of Glory (2/3)
    Presence: Force of Will (1/2)
    Presence: Vulnerability (2/2)
    Sentry: Fortified Gear (1/3)
    Sentry: Precise (3/3)
    Sentry: Sentry Aura (3/3)
    Sentry: Stalling Tactics (3/3)
    Sentinel: Caregiver (2/3)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (1/3)
    Sentinel: Wither (2/2)
    Sentinel: Genesis (2/2)
    Mastery: Sentinel Mastery (1/1)

You now have more of a debuff and CC focus w/ this build, while still having strong support and some burst dmg.

    Hello flowcyto!

I took some of your suggestions, but not all. Let me explain.

Starting with the Talents, I want to stick to my original idea of using the Talents to boost the (mostly) non-super stats. Combined with AoPM the total effect should make even the these non-super stats have a decent effect in game, since every stat helps out in some way.

Second was your suggestion of changing the Secondary Super Stat Ego for Int. The Ego is just about the only attack boost this build has going for it.

Next came your suggestions about Specifications. I really only took two of your suggestions here (three if you count the one from earlier) by taking Stalling Tactics and Repurpose. I just could not agree that spreading the Spec points so thin (five and six Specs!) would yield effective results.

Then was (of course) the Powers. Here I had a lot of questions about the choices you suggested. One of your choices kind of baffles me; Conviction on a healer? I can get self healing just by targeting myself, so why would I want a self heal? Also MSA; I only have one or two Powers with a cool down so again, why take this when my power return is already going to high (Support role)?

Took your advice regarding Cleansing, but waiting to see exactly what the update does to this Power.

Next were the Power choices I made that were different. I took Ego Surge w/Nimble Mind to boost my damage (and crits). Also kept Shadows for mob fodder. May change then out if I can come up with something that fits theme better (protection/vengeance).

Thanks for everything again, and remember; You are one of the best!

PS: Never thanked you for the Petco link tip. That was just awesome, and should be sticked somewhere.

eh, there's too many stickies in the combat/powers forum. I'm fine w/ just having the Pet guide in my sig.

As far as 'spreading specs thin' that's not really a problem necc. Depends on ur outlook- one way is unlocking versatile scaling options, another way is diluting focus. Kinda a glass half empty vs. half full situation, and ultimately up to you. Not always, but often the difference of one spec point isn't much, either way. But for the build ya prob want to maximize the debuff/cc options in specs, since that's more unique here (that means, Vuln, Wither, and Sentinel Mastery; w/ Stalling Tactics + Dominion if ur also wanting strong trash CC).

Conviction is very powerful, quick, and easy as a self-heal when Support (and can still crit). Its fast, and w/ MSA more efficient than a manual heal- which is more cumbersome to turn on urself in a pinch. You prob want MSA for when ur using AoRP and expensive stuff like Conduit or LStorm anyways- having the extra energy and Int helps spam these sort of powers easier, and having Conviction goes hand-in-hand w/ MSA. Its why if ur not needing to heal urself I'd also recommend a short utility_debuff cd to roll MSA- like SoD, Ego Sleep w/ adv, Shadows, Cleansing, etc.

Ego as a 2ndary SS is only adding passive ranged dmg, which DRs pretty harshly as a FF, and is soft-capped at 70 (past which it returns only a quarter its value, iirc) w/o SS'ing it. Rank 3 AoPM can already put you well past Ego's soft-cap as is. It would help more for AoRP, but I assume ur not using AoRP as often, and when you are ur dps isn't much an issue since ur prioritizing keeping teammates alive above all else then (if teammates can live w/o AoRP's dmgRes, then there's little reason to use it over AoPM). Int's extra cd reduction is also a small perk to having it geared a bit.
