cannot enter MC now.....

I've been out of game for awhile, and most of my toons were parked out in other maps (Monster Island, etc). While I was away, the whole celebration started and the event to play as villains....

Now when I try to even enter Millennium City at the Renaissance Center and get near the Power Core, or log into a toon who was anywhere near the Power Core, my game crashes back to desktop. Anyone else having this issue? Is there a workaround?

Update: The game also crashed after I exited the MC Power Core with a character I had left inside it. The moment I tried stepping back into MC, CRASH. Something is seriously wrong.

Try updating your video drivers. Sounds most likely you are either on out dated drivers or you are trying to run the game at far higher settings than your PC can handle.

If that's not it, try updating your BIOS. Now warning on the BIOS, if you shut down your PC at any time during the update, then you could make your PC useless and require a factory install so only really do it if you are confident or have someone with PC skills do it for you.

I have an AMD Radeon R9 290 Series graphics card, and all my drivers and graphics work just fine, better than fine over in Neverwinter Online, which is also a Cryptic game on the same server. So I am highly doubtful this is a problem with my computer or drivers, especially considering we have dealt with this sort of thing before and it was always in Millennium City at the Renaissance Center. It was happening a lot last year around Christmas when they had the Krampus display, and always right near that display. This is like that but far worse, as I have now tested it out on three different toons--one tried to use a MC teleport to go there (from Monster Island) and crashed...one was already parked in MC on top of the tailor overhang and was fine until I ran her near the Powercore (then crashed), and the third was INSIDE the MC Powercore, and was fine until the very moment she stepped OUT of it into MC...then crashed.

This is an issue with something in MC at the moment.

This may or may not help for Champs, but it helped ME in a different game:

    Run AMD Catalyst Control Console.

    Select: My VGA Displays.

    Look at your Properties.

IF the button for "Minor Attributes: Use Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) or driver defaults" is SELECTED, unselect it.

I don't remember if you need to reboot after. But this cleared up a graphics-seemingly related crash I was having with another game.

Well I have an AMD Catalyst Control Center, but I see no such category as "My VGA Displays" there. Must be called something else in my version.

With out knowing specifics about your computer it is difficult for anyone to determine if it is on your end or Cryptics. Your best bet is to post this in the tech support forum along with a dx report. Just because your computer works well on other games doesn't mean the problem can't still be on your end. Just as a problem not affecting everyone doesn't rule out it being on Cryptic's end.
