Does anyone have a link or list of healing abilities that are not Presence based?

I am building a Tech ranged/critical character. However I am finding it hard to work in heals (other than pets, which I am trying to avoid).

So is there a list of heals and how they work or something?

Pretty much all heals are affected by your healing strength (which comes from presence and gear); the only exceptions I know of are regeneration, resurgence, and sentinel mastery.

There is also "The Rush of Battle" from Specializations.

But I really should have been more specific about the information I was looking for this time.

What I am looking for is a quick "Tap/Click" power for a quick instant heal. However, so many of the powers that fit this description are based on Presence, which this build has no other use for. Thus the actual heal you receive ends up being just not worth it.

It seems that there would/should be one such power for the non-"supernatural" type builds.

I've always found this helpful. It was on the old wiki.

Most people use Conviction. Yes, it's presence-based, but it can also crit so it can get bonuses for crits.

jaazaniah1: Thank you for the link. That will come in very handy now and in the future.

pantagruel01: And thanks to you also. I may go with conviction after all, even though I'm trying for a Tech based character.

Just a thought: Why does this game not have a "First Aid" or "Medical Training" type of skill? Seems that all of the healing is magical, with no Tech based balance.

Holdout Shot (Stim Pack), Bionic Shielding, and Medic Drones are tech based healing.

No offense intended, pantagruel01, but all of those end up depending on Presence. And so far as I can tell Presence only effects heals and maybe some of the magical end of things.

With all the other changes that made nearly everything base on your Super Stats (not one specific stat ) (most of the time) (OK, the exceptions are there, but they aren't that many)

Edit: Medic Drones and Bionic Shielding are supposed to be very slow HoT, whereas I am looking for a burst heal (Save my Butt) power. Had been counting on Empathic or Psionic Healing (thought they were Ego based) but... Then I switched over to Palliate, only then to discover that without Presence SS nothing seems to heal very much.

And I didn't say otherwise. The powers you want don't exist. Your choices are (a) presence, (b) Sentinel core mods, or (c) deciding that the amount of heal you can get without those things is still sufficient.

Resurgence is your power, then. Not presence-based, no overt magic VFX, single click.

General rule: powers that say "heal" use your superstats and bonus healing; powers that say "regain" or "gain health" only use superstats.

It's also worth noting that you can get gear with sizable healing bonuses, which many folks do to make things like Conviction even more worthwhile.

I've tested nearly every form of self healing. Healing is largely in the realm of Presence and for good reason (balance). Non-pre builds should focus on mitigation and heals only as a form of mitigation. Resurgence is about the only one as it is considered an active defense and you still get a good chunk of health from it. Fast recharge time is the best way to improve it. The gadget power that reduces recharge timers works great if stacking multiple AD and AO powers as it also cuts down the 30 second delay between their uses.

Another decent non-Pre option for healing is dodge and BCR with the advantage. Still scales with Pre I believe but is great mitigation with high Dodge (don't even need Dex SS to get a decent dodge). As with all healing it is only as good as the base mitigation you also have.

Shields are useless unless you are full pre, have gear buffs and spec'd correctly. They need to be massive as they do not have mitigation (or limited if something does affect it. None to my knowledge).

What you are shooting for is effective health pool which means your base health plus mitigation. Self healing should not take more than a click. If you have to maintain or charge it means you aren't doing damage and high damage that kills is the best mitigation for DPS builds.

If self healing turns out to be difficult to fit into a build then I suggest an aggro wipe ability. Pet builds require dedicated build but of course aggro bounce like mad and offers a great deal of mitigation simply by not being targeted. Also use your healing items and learn to hotkey them like you would powers and practice seamless integration into your normal rotations when needed.

Personally I find damage easy to build but always a pain and frustrating experience ensuring a build has enough defense to not make your healers cry and scream at you for being a glass cannon. One of my characters is a healer and if I see a DPS die very quickly I simply cannot waste my time healing them. A DPS must have the capacity to absorb the largest boss hits under full defense to allow time for the group to recover.

Hm. So dps needs to survive 100,000 damage hits. Good to know ;)

Block does, but - as far as I know - that's it. Tried a presence-heavy build with shields once... the survival they offered was pathetic compared to actual heals.

Um... last I checked Stimpack scales off your superstats... yes it gets a bonus from Pre but it scales mostly off superstats and pretty well too... Bionic Shielding also scales primarily off superstats and the return from it is pretty reliable. It's just a bit akward to use as a self heal...

Additionally: Holdout Shot w/Stimpack can crit, when it crits all ticks of the heal crit, and when the power gets it's double damage bonus from low energy the first tick of the heal will also be doubled... it is a VERY reliable self heal... I've got a tank who uses it to great effect without Pre.

Stim Pack scales w/ Pres' bonus heal, not directly w/ SS's- same w/ BShielding. What ur prob seeing is the general +bonus heal increase that SS's give when in either the Hybrid or Support roles.

Other heals are Siphoning Strikes, Adrenaline Rush and Necrullitic Elixir

What about Palliate and Field Surge? I know Palliate is pre based but it heals based on a percentage of health. Field Surge gives you a shield but I don't think it benefits from pre/shield strength?
  • flowcytoflowcyto Posts: 12,858 Arc User
Correct on both. FS benefits from rank only (and whether ur using PFF or not, ofc). Palliate heals a health %, but that % also scales w/ bonus heal.
