If you could choose any superhero comic book style that CO could be made after, trying to get the overall feel and the aesthetic of it (at least what could be done from a 2d to a 3d environnement). what comic book would you choose?
I don't mean it has to follow the story of it, or have any of the characters of it; but the overall tone (more serious or lighter) and try to emulate the look of it.
I would choose "All new x-men" I've always loved Bendis and Immonen (I know Bendis has quite his share of detractors) and I'd love for CO to follow the tone of it and the graphical style of it.
Here's a small sample of it.
what about you? Try to post a screenshot of it so we can have an idea on how it looks.

EDIT: BBcode wouldn't work when I was trying to preview the post, so I use HTML, which doesn't work when it actually posts. Nice. Love these forums.

I think Champions MMO captures the cheesy late 70s early 80s feel of of PnP rather well. Both have this Spiderman and his Amazing friends feel to it.

I suppose some the aura combinations can give that hallucinating schizophrenia feel.
Millenium City for the holidays.

Club Caprice or Club Claremont? Club Caprice could use some smoke machines/fog effects, what kind of hell hole club doesn't have a haze?
An average day in Champions online. If the comic book outline was a Terry Austin ink shader I'd be thrilled. See the devs in the upper left?
...Along with Doug Hazlewood as Inker. Bagley obviously list John Byrne and Manga / Anime as an major influence on his style, but his clean lines just really show action well, and he carries emotion in faces well too.
And I'd go for the tone established and maintained in the Thunderbolts first run, maybe with a touch of the fun and excitement of the Runaways tossed in.
Thunderbolts and Old Campions pnp art notwithstanding.
Justice like lightning!
I was all about the thunderbolts at one point...
Even still...Kirby is the correct answer.
Kirby is always the correct answer.
That is the stuff super heroes are made from.
Why does everything I touch turn Blackredder? It's like I got the opposite of the Midas touch.

Btw, OP, there's a really good reason you like the Nextwave style. It's also Stuart Immonen's art.
More action at Champions Online Comics @ http://co-comics.webs.com
and yeah, I was just reading about nextwave and saw it's by Immonen, that explains it
also my favorite colorist at the moment is probably Marte Gracia, it makes me want to draw whenever i see his art.
Rich Buckler example, Bronze Age Marvel
John Byrne would be my third choice, but his best known style is fairly similar to Bagley. Not his fault, Bagley emulates him somewhat.
Kirby would be my number five, but only because I think the game already does a pretty spectacular job of emulating Kirby's style now.
Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie (previous collaboration: Young Avengers volume 2)
or, Matt Fraction and Mike Allred (previous collaboration: FF)
(+1 to Fraction for the Kree Sentry's dialogue)
(and an extra +1 for Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.; what a fun book)
(That said, Gillen actually wrote some lovely coverage of the game, including an interview with Arkayne, during his pre-Marvel life at Rock-Paper-Shotgun).
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
To be fair, this isn't too different from the current style, though faces are done differently.
This cover showcases both groups:
