SNR's and DC's are back with a vengeance

prettyceltprettycelt Posts: 120 Arc User
Not sure what you guys did, but after a nice long time without much in the way of connection issues at all, suddenly we're back to Server Not Responding multiple times every day (sometimes running several minutes long at a stretch), and random disconnects. I could barely even launch the Patcher tonight, and trying to do an Alert was a bad joke.

What gives? Anyone else experiencing this unwelcome resurgence?

Update: After trying to launch Neverwinter instead, that is apparently suffering some sort of seizure as well. It's NOT just the website as the message states, the game will not even patch. It's your servers. Again.

Do a traceroute and ping to patchserver.crypticstudios.com. If I'm not wrong that's still the address that the launcher uses to patch the game. Look for any abnormally high ping readings or frequent "timed out" messages.

The problem may be due to your ISP having routing issues to Cryptic's servers and not with Cryptic's servers themselves. I've come across numerous mentions of Cogent being the culprit and have even been advised by Cryptic support in the past that Cogent is known to be problematic.

EDIT: If it's been verified by Cryptic that the problem is on their side then ignore what I've said.

It's probably Cogent and Comcast. I wouldn't be at all surprised. When I next move in April, we are definitely saying goodbye to Comcast and getting Fios. Comcast's horrible customer service and bandwidth throttling has totally turned us off of them. They act like they're the only game in town when their numbers are dropping. They will soon go the way of the dinosaur.

I'd have to guess Cogent; I have Comcast, and haven't been getting SNRs or DCs on CO. (STO, yes; that SNRs like a mofo over there. Not sure why.)

mine usually hits about the same time each day. about 10 minutes from now.
STO is always a pain to get into, for some reason until I do tracert, then it miraculously manages to get through.

    here's today's result.

This is all in Kansas, where they've had tornadoes.

This is showing back in Kansas and belongs to Cryptic, another IP lookout up showed a house in California

Then Request Timed out (I get this too) I'm thinking this is the signal to Cryptic itself and we are all standing in line behind six million Chinese neverwinter players.

    Finally to Los Gatos

Just had a hard DC after a long SNR. Kicked out to login screen (not character select).
