OK, now that I have played a few character to 40, I want to consolidate and check my thoughts on build priorities. Please check me on the following understandings I have.
First off, there are only 3 reason to consider a particular SuperStat:
- Because a power you want to take scales with that stat, or
- because you want the Specializations associated with a primary SuperStat, or
- because you want the secondary bonuses of having high levels of a specific SuperStat.
There is no reason other than the three above to take a SuperStat, yes?
And as I understand it, the secondary bonuses of the eight SuperStats are:
- Str: +Melee Dmg, +Knock Resist, +Melee Knock Power
- Dex: +Crit Chance, +Stealth
- Con: +Health
- Int: -EnergyCosts, +Energy Return, -Cooldown, -Lockout, +Perception
- Ego: +Ranged Dmg, +Ranged Knock Power
- Pre: +Hold Duration, +Heals, +Shields
- Rec: +Equilibrium, +Energy Return
- End: +Max Energy
Is that correct?
Furthermore, survivability solo in PvE has a lot to do with your Defense Passive, and each scales with different stats. There are five:
- Regeneration, offers fast in combat healing, scales with Rec
- Invulnerability, reduces incoming damage by a small flat amount (which scales with Str) then by a percent (which scales with Con),
- Lightning Reflexes, raises you Dodge and Avoidance, scales with Dex,
- Personal Force Field, grants an ablative outer shield (shield strength scales with End) which regain health over time (shield regen scales with Ego),
- Defiance, grants stacks of Defiant as you get attacked which increase your damage resistance, scales with Con
Does that sound about right?
So this would seem to indicate that either your choice of SuperStats would drive your choice of Defense Passive, or vice versa?
Now, flowcyto on another thread said: "Regen is great for leveling just cause most solo content doesn't have many/any heavy hitters, and Regen's main weakness lies in taking and recovering from large chunks of dmg. It and Invuln effectively outpace the other defensive passives for solo content."
If this is so, and if I *only* do solo PvE levelling, then I would only use Regen or Invuln, which further would mean that I would always take as a SuperStat either Rec, or Str/Con. Given that I always do ranged characters, Str/Con seems like a waste. So at the end, I am better off always taking Rec and Regen for every solo ranged PvE leveller I run.
Yes?
This also fits my love of of high equilibrium characters that depend on their energy builder very infrequently and spend most of the time on DPS attacks, with strong alphas.
I'll pause here to let the community comment. Thanks.

You will find most builds are aimed at running rampages, because everybody wants the justice. That's where the extreme high end dodge builds all originate, which, to be honest, are pretty amazing.
For the rest of us plebes, regen is the bomb. I combine it with bestial (supernatural power/shred/massacre/vile lariat with the reverse kb advantage) to make a zone sweeper that literally never pauses. My hands get tired before I have to slow down.
Oh! If you DO plan to do rampages, you should always superstat Con. You need the hitpoints.
The funny thing is that as soon as the character hits 40, it's dead to me. In fact, often as I hit the late 30s, I begin to focus on ideas for my *next* character...

It's absolutely true, and makes using the Defensive passives so much more user friendly, since you can use any one you prefer for it's defense mechanics, and any super stats you want for their mechanics as well.
I'd know, I was the author of the old [and now deservedly unlisted, for outdated information] Defense primer thread, which was once the sticky of choice on the subject.
