Why the long update?

Does anyone know what they're doing for 8 hours of downtime?
With a 1MB/s transfer, you could transfer 28.8 GB of data in that time. And I doubt they even have that slow connection. Champions Online itself is only 8.3 GB, and I doubt the character save files are hundred of gigs. Only thing I could think of is new server hardware.

    The guinea pig needed a break. Or it could be software updates, av updates, cleaning (both physical and digital). Hardware maintenance, patching the servers, there is actually a lot that goes into ensuring the running a game that is constantly uploading and downloading tons of data.

    Update: Maintenance for CO will be going until 4pm. Until the next pushback.
