I get that the idea of Smoke Bomb is an instant Stealth skill to be used mostly with Night Warrior but it seems sort of useless. First and foremos,t this skill has a long Cooldown. Next, we have the problem that its stealth is broken if you take damage which means that if anything is currently attacking you there is next to NO chance that it will do anything. Next, Evasive Maneuvers with its Advantage while more of a chance based thing is more likely to actually work and will get you away from the enemies. Last, Smoke Grenade with Escape Artist is vastly superior at wiping all Aggro from you, can be thrown, messes up enemy perception for when you do re-enter stealth, and is on a MUCH shorter Cooldown.
So... Am I missing some reason why Smoke Bomb is not just utterly useless outside of an out of combat visual sort of skill?
From my experience on the Soldier its more of a placate than a threat wipe- and not really that great tbh.
It's usable for stealth tanking, though the soldier may not have the additional powers needed to do that. However, that's not the same as a threat wipe. On the other hand, there's not a lot of reason to take smoke bomb rather than palliate.

Smoke Grenade has an advantage called Escape Artist. If you take it then it will wipe aggro from you and make you invisible for a time while the enemy is in the smoke. It is so good you can really mess with other PLAYERS using it. Drop something like Sigils or have pets attack them and then Smoke Grenade them with the advantage and BAM they are suddenly attacking those other things and you are gone.
It is the same thing that VIPER and ARGENT soldiers do to you with their smoke grenades.

That's actually the base smoke grenade power, not the advantage -- it's -perception, not placate. The only things I know of that do placates are PSI hypnotists and Red Banner magicians.

Yes, Smoke Bomb is currently bugged, while is intended to be one of threat wipes, it for some reason doesn't apply that command to AI. Another two powers are Evasive Maneuvers with Sleight of Mind advantage, that is random-based & Palliate with Absolve advantage, which could be targeted at teammate.

While placating enemy, threat you apply to them still persists. & that means if you overaggroed a tank, they'll attack you again a moment, Escape Artist wears off. Threat wipe means you'll be forcefully driven out of combat. When it happens, if enemies haven't another aggro sources, their HP bar refills (either completely, or just to closest bar if enemy is strong like Gravitar).
Devs please, draw attention to this, probably here's just some incorrect values in your power core.
