A Zed Brightlander by any other name would still be as Heroic

The following post is an attempt to explain why there are so many heroic Zeds in Mill City. The short form is that it is all about a time traveling villain who accidentally fractures the timeline and creates several alternate versions of one hero that lived in the 31st century.

Zed Brightlander
Far in the future, the 31st century to be exact, superheroes have become common things. The military and even local law enforcement must use super power technology to deal with over powered villains on a daily basis. Into this future, Zed was born and grew up to become a trained law enforcement officer. Fully trained and equipped in the latest technology, he was prepared every day to work side-by-side with the heroes of the 31st century.

Until one day, the villain, Crono-Master, activated a device meant to toss the entire city back in time all the way to the age of dinosaurs. It could well have meant a horrid death for everyone. Being the only officer available for the task, Zed manged to stop the Chroniton Detonator, but was swept up in final cascade of chroniton particles. Zed found himself toss back in time to the Mill City of the present day. Luckily, in this day and age, thanks to the 31st century technology that came with him, Zed is, in every way, capable of performing the types of super-heroics of most of the heroes of Millennium City and has made it his mission to do exactly what he was trained to do: To Protect and To Serve the citizens of Mill City and the Earth.

Almost to the hour, Zed arrive in time to become a part of history and help to thwart the Qularr Invasion. Unfortunately he has now weaved himself into an alternate reality where he can never return to his own time. He is unsure if it was his destiny to come to the past, but history seems to be unfolding nearly exactly the same, with few small exception. He has encounter a few villains never reported in this histories time period. This has lead Zed to believe these individuals may have been sent to stalk him in this alternate timeline from a future he no longer knows. He wonders if these new villains are the work of Chrono-Master manipulating events from another time or even another timeline. If this turns out to be true it may mean he has some important role to play to correct an aberrant temporal flux. Perhaps it is his destiny to correct events and revert the multi-verse back to it original pattern. One that might even allow him to go home again.

It has also been revealed to him that there are even alternate Zeds who specialized in different training and equipment of his era. Same Zed but with different crime fighting powers used in slightly alternate futures. He has encountered only two other Zeds, so far. One uses cold generating power-suit, while the other uses an strength generating power-suit. So far, neither has had his successes against the villains of this era, but each is learning as they go. When necessary, and as with himself, each has worked with other heroes of the era.

One thing is certain, each and every Zed is a credit to all Zeds of every other time-line. So far...

Zed Blightlander
Far in the future, the 31st century to be exact, superheroes have become common things. The military and even local law enforcement must use super power technology to deal with over powered villains on a daily basis. Into this future, Zed was born and grew up to become a trained law enforcement officer. This Zed did not arrive arrive in time to become a part of history and help to thwart the Qularr Invasion. No this Zed arrive during the Blood Moon Crisis. His power-suit, his body, and even his very person, was twisted and altered during his trip to the past. He was being affected by much more than chroniton particles. It was as if he was fighting a battle to keep his very soul from being turned to darkness. For a moment Zed was certain he had lost the battle until, in a moment of supreme knowing, he wrenched control of the very energy that had tried to ruin him and now force the same energy to obey his commands.

Unfortunately he has now weaved himself into an alternate reality where he can never return to his own time. He is unsure if it was his destiny to come to the past, but history seems to be unfolding nearly exactly the same, with few small exception. He has encounter a few villains never reported in this histories time period. Perhaps it is his destiny to correct events and revert the multi-verse back to it original pattern. One that might even allow him to go home again.

It has also been revealed to him that there are even alternate Zeds, but he was stunned to meet one, who unlike himself, fell under the control of the very energy that he managed to defeat and now controls in the service of justice. An evil Zed who has become known as Undead Zed. That Zed's power mirrors Blightlanders, but seeks to defeat the other Zeds with hoards of evil minons at his side.

Y'know, Zed [blank]lander shouldn't be surprised to encounter villains he's never heard of. It's been a thousand years, after all; there's a lot that would have been forgotten over time. How many people here would be familiar with all the bad guys who might have been running around in the 11th Century?

Actually, the naming pattern is just a little more complex than Zed somethinglander.

Zed Brightlander is the original, is a FF with a combination of Force and Might powers, but each Zed could have a name with a change to either the Bright or the lander depending on the Archtype he might have been based on.

While I no longer have plans to create a Zed for each Archtype, a Zed Brightblade might be his name if his skills set came from The Blade. Here is a short list of Zeds I had considered creating at one point.

    The Inferno - Zed Brightflame

    The Radiant - Zed Brighthealer

    The Mind - Zed Brightmind

I actually could not come up with a good name for a Zed based on The Soldier. Same for The Grimoire. Brightspeller seemed a bit to on the nose.

Another aspect of multiple Zeds lay in the costumes all having a major similarity, yet all be easily recognizable as a Zed.

I started with a pure white costume with gloves, boots and a belt all being the same color. Gold on the original. Blue on Icelander. Mightlander was also gold, but to indicate his ability to pound on the bad guys I decided to indicate his power base by putting a large Hammer on the back. Yes, it's silly, but what color is the power if Might?

I guess the only other thing that I used to indicate Zed has been this symbol on his chest which is always blue and gold.

Still, I love to hear the names you guys could come up with for other possible Zeds based off of the Archtypes.

    Seriously though - Zed Colander?

I know, it's not a very good looking colander, but as good as the CC is there are no colanders for heads.

This one looks better, but it's not Zed.

And then there's this suggestion from BiffSmackwell.

Not sure if it wold make sense to see Zed in a kilt, but the sword... { shrug } Will, see.

He only shows his face in Movember. Oh, and one or two days during the Winter Event but he also dons a Santa cap as well.
