I saw this a long time ago:

http://co.perfectworld.com/news/?p=579581

I mean, come on guys- this is a good one. Why haven't we seen this? Can we get something along these lines soon? And to drum up a little support...

One that note, I am hosting a contest. Winner will receive 10 Cosmic Keys. Second place will receive 5 keys. Third place will receive 1 key. All other ninjas will bring great honor to their clan (translation- you get nothing). Costumes will be judged on or by 1 February (if this thread stagnates, I will give a 48-hour notice to contest closure).

Rules:

Ninjas are an international and diverse threat, and therefore may be of any gender or race and use any color scheme.

Ninjas are eternal, immortal, and everywhere- and therefore may be of any time period or theme- tech, modern, historical, fantasy, military, supernatural, comical- it doesn't matter, as long as it's a ninja!

The Inverse Ninja Theory applies- contestants are only allowed ONE entry. However, if you want after the contest- you may share your designs for fun/praise/giggles.

A Ninja is resourceful and uses all tools at his disposal, therefore any costume set is allowed.

Ninjas are creatures of invisibility and stealth- however, he knows when he must be seen, so your entry must be clearly visible (multiple angles are helpful).

No shadow clones- Ninjas must be an original idea design. No copyrighted ninjas.

Ninjas abide by a code of honor- nothing vulgar or offensive.

Ninjas understand anonymity, however a 'name' for you concept is at least required.

A Ninja will always remember his sensei- don't hesitate to name your inspirations.

The Ninja is many, and one- let's get some support going here to encourage Cryptic to work on that Ultimate Ninja set! Remember Cryptic- the Ninja is there, though he may be unseen. We are waiting.

To many, this mysterious figure is a local legend, one used to teach a lesson shared by those who believe in it, even today: Even in death, honor is eternal.

Such was the case of Kashiwagi. He was one of the better ninja of his day, who served a local, rural daimyo. He conducted many assassinations and guard duties for his Lord with the utmost of devotion.

This would end with the murder of his Master at the hands of a traitor, through the use of a powerful curse. This traitor, who Kashiwagi once saw as a brother, blamed him for the act, and fled for another part of Japan, not knowing that the curse would be paid with a price.

While the specific implications of the curse is unknown today, it is assumed that Kashiwagi was stricken with immortality, his flesh degrading as the centuries passed, while his spirit and skeleton remained animate, still feeling, still alive, so to speak.

As his brain decayed over the years, his consciousness remained. Some part of him knew that the traitor was long-gone, but another yearned for revenge. He must reclaim his honor. His Lord must be avenged.

I can't help think that there are many costumes similar to these already. Saying that clearly this was only an idea and concept art, the reason it's 'not out yet' is because it never really got past the initial concept art. That post was by the 'lead artist' ages ago, I don't think we've had one of those in ages.

wwwooowww. I totally forgot about this concept set. Whatever happened to this? This thing has been on the back burner so long that it's nearly been forgotten altogether.

The ninja master known only as Yurei is rumored to be the new leader the Dark Lotus Clan, one of the more sinister and secretive clans of ninja from the hidden misty Karoshi island off the coast north western Japan, both feared and revered even by rival clans

It has been rumored they have lived there for over 700 years, it is also spoken in shadow that this clan of ninja have been punished to guard the gates of the Japanese underworld, for an unknown event in the past that they were blamed for by the gods, forever tarnishing their honor.

When her master was killed she donned his magical armor and took his standard of a dark blue dragon, uniting what was left of their clan and giving arcane necklaces to as many as she could to cloak them and enabling them to leave the island for short periods of time

Her armor allows her to leave the island for longer then is allowed and cloaks her from the clans jailers known only in mythological books as the twin demon guards Mezu and Gozu to bring the ninjas back to the island

Yurei and her unknown second in command are continuing her masters mission, using technology, sorcery, arcane artifacts and any other necessary means to try to free themselves from this curse, and restoring their honor so that they can finally be free

    Here's my contribution. Master Reng.

I wanted something not normally seen and figured a Kabuki theme is rare enough to fit the bill. I don't have the Halloween Mask pack that has actual Kabuki designs so I MacGyver'd a Kabuki look out of facepaint, an opera mask and chin hair.

Today's ninja isn't just your traditional stealthy figure anymore. They are required to adapt to manage in a world along side (or against) super powered beings from many dimensions and planets from far off places. They must incorporate the world's technology, and understand how to blend into such a mixed environment. No longer are they just simple assassins, but a ninja needs to work espionage, gather intel in a digital age, as well as understand the finer arts of manipulation.

    Today's ninja is a merc.

Before turning to fashion and competitive modeling, Bunni started out with humble beginnings, but after her own coding allowed for freewill, she learned from the best assassins and mercenaries of the day, and rose to form her own company known as Wetworks Espionage and Tactics (W.E.T). From there she continued to master her skills with her custom designed tech blades. Her armor is both efficient and protective, making for solid protection against many direct attacks, however it's most effective when silent, and as such allows for easy maneuvering under the cover of darkness.

Although Bunni has moved on from her merc days, she still keeps this outfit for those moments when stealth is required in hero work.

A modernised take on ninjas, much like they were shown in The Punisher #22 "Ninja Training Camp".
This one tries to stay efficient and stealthy. A few grenades and a pair of UZIs only make some jobs easier.

Let's call it "SWAT Ninja". I had no better ideas for a name.

    And a costume file:

    Costume_Mee_da_CThunist_UrnammuTheUndying_CC_Comic_Page_Blue_443325447_zps3fabf80d.jpg

This one has default weapon models, though. Also, makes a nice costume for the Specialist AT.

My entry 'Crimson Whisper'. Silent and beautifully efficient, he considers assassination to be the highest art form and himself a master of the medium.

I modified an older design of mine to look a bit more ninja-like; though not by much. Still remaining it's modern appeal.

I could not think of a new name; so I'll go with it's old design name: Gemini.

Guys, everything so far is awesome. Keep them coming, for two reasons:

1- I love seeing other peoples' creations

2- Cryptic may yet realize there's enough support for ninjas to scratch our itch.

Also, if this contest gets enough support, I'll run one next month. I may even do this monthly through the forums (because in game, not everyone will be on at the same time for a costume contest).

Just a costume entry for me, I made this toon a while back with the intention of using Dual Blade/MA and NW. I liked it, but I soon transformed it into a different NW build which is entirely different.

But the Character was called: Asura Denshai - A trained Ninja who had the mutant ability to channel chi into her blades (Violet Rings) and use them to attack her foes with stealth, cunning and powerful blows before disappearing into the shadows again.

    Asura1_zpsf2a9ec4b.png

I had fun levelling this toon and getting her to level 40, I still have her build so I may run it again in the future.

I used the violet and indigo-esque colors as I thought they went well together, not full black, generic ninja but still carrying an element of stealth.

Was going to submit one of my older characters for the contest, then saw your Gemini design. Really like this one (the others are good as well), so ya sent me back to the proverbial drawing board. Nice one!

And thank god I don't see any requirement for a backstory.

Wait a minute there. I'd like to participate, but can't get a screenshot until the morning. Once I have one, I'll send it in.

In regards to that costume set, I'd LOVE to be able to get it. Both the A AND B versions.

    Winners are, in this order:

Shieldtower, 3rd place. Why? Because I like some things simple, yet a bit 'different'.

    Master_Reng_zps623cf273.jpg[/QUOTE]

    jerax1011, Second place.

    zsse.jpg

    First place, Pachiiru!

    GK2met5.pngGdOyGVP.png

Something about this one kept bringing me back. It caught my eye, and my helpers in judging this thought that it was a cool 'Superhero Modern Ninja' look. Congrats!

Thank you all for playing, and I'm sorry I got so delayed today and didn't get it out in the morning.

Sorry for the repeat post, but I feel I need to tell you all that I REALLY liked all your costumes, enough to the point I had to ask for help judging this. You all did really well, and I hope I can do another contest next month.

I'm thinking about what it could be.

Hold more contests op, and if you would like assistance re: awards shoot me a forum mail. We need more activities like this.

I'm trying to think of another type of 'theme contest'. Ninja was just off the top of my head. I might hold one to honor another game or form of fiction.

Star Wars, or maybe Metal Gear. I haven't decided.
