Okay, apparently it's an open secret to some, but how do you make the legs disappear like that? I've got an idea I want to use, but the body parts have to be invisible aside from the aura...

I know it works on females for sure, not 100% about males. But the trick is with the newer costume sets, select long skirts and then one of the hip pieces. the legs are not rendered (or if you use tights for a skin option they are extremely thin and weak looking) and then you are missing most of the leg. the trick for the arms is under the jackets category. No heads are made under the full helmet options.

Well, there are many Auras post about in many costume thread. But you're right, this tread needs to see more caps of the many ways heroes are using basic Auras creatively.
-
I used the Regeneration Aura tuned to a Red so that the flowing, spidery lines on her costume seem to be heat nanites moving about the suit. The nanites than direct the necessary energy to the Heat Bracers which use TM (Thermal Motivator) on her wrists.
Here's my inferno aura, set to a very pale blue. With the aura it comes out much darker. I imagine this is one of the last auras still tied to a power, which makes its creative use a bit more difficult.

Are you talking about the freebee Fiery Form aura? Because I have no problem getting that to lighter colors.
Also, I wonder what that costume looks like without an aura.
Did you know that if you use the Fiery Aura set to one color and the Fire Flight to another, that you can see flames from both? Here's a test hero using yellow on the Fire Flight and blue on the Fiery Aura.

I'm working on getting screen caps of some other heroes with Auras. Also, I'll try to prod folks in other threads to post some aura pics here.
Also, there is no rule that says you cannot cap a cool looking hero with an interesting looking use of auras and post them yourself, if you want.
I've seen some neat aura combos in Alerts, but can't seem to get good caps before the Alert's end.
Indeed there is no rule, however I've yet to claim a single aura on any character. Mostly because I can't have more than one to play with different combinations. It's unfortunate that acquiring multiple auras for multiple characters is so extremely cost prohibitive...
I actually saw many of those you posted here in that other thread... I was just hoping there would be more here, more frequently, given the thread title. However I appreciate you posting them here
I was looking for some inspiration, since I'm finally looking to outfit -one- character with a nice multi-aura look that works for her. Here's hoping some nice aura combos are posted!

I think I know what you mean. You would like to see what Aura X looks like in a cap or in a video before making the purchase, right?
Or better yet, what if one of the Aura Sellers in the RenCen or the PH could do more than just show the dozen or so Gimme auras? What if they could show ALL of the Auras and even sell any of the currently available sets? That would make choosing which to buy easier, wouldn't it?
Sort of, I was more looking for some player screen caps with what aura "X", "Y" and "Z" or auras "A", "B", "C", "D" and "E" look like together, combined with their costumes and with different colors etc... I'm trying to come up with a mystical looking aura for one of my characters by combining the effects of multiple auras. basically stuff like AoRP, AoPM and AoED are ok "on their own" I guess, but I'm looking to make a more.... custom appearance.
So I was looking here to see what auras people have used together, what colors they colored them, and if there where any aspects that I could use to attain the look I want.
The character in question is an alternate version of the first character I made back when I started CoX, so I'm wanting a similar appearance, aura-wise, not exact replication (which wouldn't be possible anyway). Here's a cap of the "original" and "new" character:

Not a bad idea, although the vendors are only able to display one aura at a time and on very plain costumes. It's great to see a visual representation of the auras through the vendors, but seeing them on your character, or combined with other auras on your character, would be much better.
Personally I'd prefer if there was an aura tab in the tailor screen where one could select an aura for each slot, change colors etc. and see what they will actually look like on your character before committing. There really isn't any way to view the auras externally through vendors that could compete with that, IMO.
Ok, well I decided to run a gamble so I threw my zen and Q into the pot and this is what came out:
Using Fire Details: Eyes, Seraphim and Primal Majesty auras. I'll be adding Invulnerability aura to the last "always on" slot and considering adding Radiant Protection for one of the "in combat" slots.
Basic premise of the character is that a self-aware magical artifact was able to fuse with her body, and in order to protect itself within its host, the artifact projects a magic barrier that grants the host invulnerability to harm... a side effect of the fusing also allows the host to harness some of the artifacts magic.
This may be cheating since this is just using powers, but I really liked the effect and wanted to share. This is Hologramma, a superhero who can manipulate and solidify light. I like to think of this as her supercharging herself for battling supervillains. Doing so is very draining, so she can't maintain the effect for long.

I wanted to tell you guys about an idea I had recently that has been working for me when selecting a free aura for my old and new heroes.
You can even use this if your hero is an established one, so long as you have a slot free to create a new hero with.
So, let's pretend that my main, Zed Brightlander, still has not selected a free aura. I create a new hero using the Zed Brightlander costume file that I have saved. Then, I name the new hero, Test Hero.
I select skip the Tutorial and enter the PH, then after I clear the screen of the pop-ups, I run over to the Aura seller and pic an aura I think will work with my costume and hero concept. If I like the effect, and my account is Gold, I then experiment with coloring the aura. If I don't like, I quit back to my heroes page and delete Test Hero and create Test Hero2. I, then, repeat the process until I find an aura I like that works with my hero's concept.
This also works well with new heroes. With a new costume saved to the Screenshots folder, you can skip the Tutorial enter the PH over and over again as Test Hero until you like what you see make a note of it, then create your new hero in earnest.
I love the pics on this thread, so far. You guys use exactly what you need to make you auras accentuate the costumes and the hero over all.
If you pop into the RenCen on any give day, you see - what can only be called - Aura Abuse. Flaming, bubbling, explosions of light that assault the eyes. (And the games bandwidth, I can only imagine).
Anyway, I just had to say to those who have posted so far - Well done!
Please post more because lots of us need to see how to do this well.
Folowing in the trend of 'different ways to use the Holoforce set' that's cropped up all over the board, this is my main, Shadowspawn (terrible name, I know, but it was either change the name or buy the Holoforce set. :P) By using the Psi holo material and painting the pieces pitch black, and using a combination of Shadow Form and Fiery Form, the wings and armor suddenly appear as if from nowhere - no costume change required!
I also use the 'Fire Aura: Eyes' aura as always on, and the full body 'Energy Aura' to really light him up in combat. For some it's probably a bit over the top, but the concept for this character is that he is something of a glass cannon, so it makes sense (to me, at least), that he has all this excess power streaming off him. The screensahots don't really do the effects justice, but I figured I'd post here anyway and see what people thought.
Really now? THAT'S the Slime Aura? It's rather really Ugly
I REALLY wonder who the heck through that it would be a good idea to have it as Loot from Mechanon during the Event...
...I mean... it's the aura his Scrappy Mooks are using... you get a rusty texture aura from a Clean-Mechanical Robot... that DOESN'T make sense, the loot doesn't even live up to Mecha's Name, Mecha doesn't even use that aura himself
What the hell Cryptic? Your loot tables don't make sense

It replaces your character model with a skeleton (like skull and bones and ribcage and the rest).
anyone got screen grabs of the fire aura: hair I'd like to see what it looks like with long hair and one with short hair different style then the one that's already shown on the pics of it in the Z store please and thank you. Opps I forgot to say female long hair and short hair pics my bad.
I kinda want to see screen shots with fire aure :hair before I use zen on it. the hairs I'd like to see are the punk urban, 90's wavy, messy Mohawk, and middleparted long. Please and thank you

The Aura is Medical Nanites. I set it to yellow to make it look almost like a tiny solar storm is circling the heroine, Solar Winds.

I used the Fiery Aura set to Blue to try an make it look as if he is so cold that water vapor is boiling off of his icy body.

She might not actually be an Inferno, but rather a Radiant, setting the forest and the field ablaze with new life.
Then again, she might just be a hot, green, chilly pepper giving folks heartburn.
