Have they CT'd you for blebs yet?

    Do you smoke?

Have they tested you for Marfan's syndrome yet?

Most of my patients who get more than one of these are young, thin males who smoke. I end up doing thorascopic blebectomies on most of them, because they just keep collapsing.

That was the first test, which I had passed.

    Nope, never.

    Not tested.

I'm one of the few good kids out in the world. This is just a misfortunate event that will pass on soon enough, though I am now more prone to having such an issue again later in life... or so I'm told.

For me the only painful part about it is the removal of the bandages covering them, but yes they're Chest Tubes. Just don't get me started on how the hole feels afterward.

Thank god Morphine helps me cope with the process.
    Hole? Does it hurt like a bullet hole after a nurse has sucked it out? { watch 2:50 and after }

    Also - Homer says - "Morphine - aaaahhhhgggghhha... "

Like Snapple, morphine is made from the best stuff on earth.

If this happens again your surgeon will probably suggest a pleurodesis, either chemical (with talc or some other irritating agent) or surgical (physically through a thoracoscope). With bilateral spontaneous pneumothoraces, the assumption is that there are small blebs, usually in the apices (tops of the lungs), even if not detectable by CT.

Thank you for the two explanations of potential problems.

Now if you'll excuse me, while I raid the dictionary for a few of those words.

The last tube has been removed and I should be out of here tomorrow if the X-Ray looks good. Hopefully I get to stay out too.

On the other hand my semi-secret goal to cap a character while hospitalized might not be fulfilled.

Too bad I'm physically useless now. Can't lift more than 10 pounds without someone yelling at me not to push myself. Moms.

    Now proven a true statement!

This morning we were getting up and going to get drinks at Sonic and then some groceries. As we were leaving the store I tried to take the milk and put it in the vehicle. Got yelled at.

Anyway, I'm free from the hospital once more! Let's hope it stays that way.
