I'm not a forum moderator but, before going any further, I'm going to ask that posters in this thread follow a few simple guidelines when posting and I have reasons for each of these guidelines that will be explained.
No essays: This thread is to find out what the players consider a priority. This is to keep the thread from getting cluttered and/or derailed. If you do feel the need to explain your decisions to others, please create a seperate thread and link it in your post.
No debates: This is a survery. I'd like to keep it from getting cluttered and/or derailed with lengthly debates. It will also make it quicker and easier to tally up people's votes. Again, if you do feel strongly about anything in here, please create a seperate thread and link it in your post.
No suggestions: I'd like to think that the list of choices I'm providing is inclusive of most, if not all, aspects of Champions Online and don't think people will need to make suggestions for inclusions on what to vote on. Adding new categories will also skew results and make a mess of the process due to people recasting votes. If you feel I missed something that's vital to you, contact me. We can make a new and revised poll later on. Let's try to leave this one as is.
Do not vote on multiple accounts: This poll is to find out what players want, not what the people with the most accounts want. By logging in on multiple accounts to post repeatedly, you skew the survey. Please don't do that.
Directions on casting votes:
Please list your choices starting with what you think developers should work on first and ending with what you consider to be the least important aspects of this game. You don't have to list all the possible choices. It'll simply be assumed that you're indifferent to other categories.
Do not make posts including the same choice multiple times, such as saying, "Content! Content! Content!" Doing so deprives you of the opportunity to say what else you think needs to be looked at after they've worked on what you consider your top priority. Also, that would only be counted as one vote when totalled.
Please do not try to take issues such as developer resources into account when selecting. I know that sounds odd but, this isn't a poll about what's likely or possible. It's about what the players want. Let the developers worry about what's likely and/or possible.
An explanation of why you made the prioritizing decisions you did is fine but, please keep it brief and/or create a new thread and link it in your post.
It's my hope that, by using this method, we will be able to present the developers with a fairly clear idea of where they should be focusing to retain customers as well as draw in new ones. If any of you come up with better ways to find out this information that make it certain to the developers that this is what players want and isn't just us saying we spoke to people and are now speaking on their behalf, feel free to contact me and we'll see what we can do.
Lastly, but not least, encourage your friends to come make their voices heard as well. This is their game too after all.
And now for the categories to vote on:
Leveling content: Story arcs, lairs, and world events that require players go out into the various zones in CO that they can play on their way to level cap. This does not include alerts, action packs, and comic series.
Endgame content: Repeatable story arcs, lairs, rampages, and world events for players to take part in on level capped characters. This does not include alerts, action packs, and comic series.
Scaleable content: Repeatable content that scales with the level of the characters playing it. This is action packs and comic series.
Alerts: Due to the way this content works slightly different than other content in this game I felt it deserved it's own seperate category.
Events: This category refers to seasonal events such as Takofane at halloween.
Fluff: This includes costume pieces, emotes, and gag items such as the super shrinker and disco ball.
Equipment: This includes any items that have a direct impact on gameplay ranging from becomes, devices, vehicles, henchmen, gear, and even catalysts.
New frameworks, powers, and archetypes: Additional powers added to existing frameworks as well as whole new frameworks and archetypes. This includes travel powers.
New zones: New places for characters to visit while running content.
Social instances: New places to go and hang out when not running content.
Arenas: Places specifically designed with PvP in mind. Both places that players can travel to on their own in search of matches against other players and queueable instances.
PvP: New events for PvPers
Enemies: New enemy groups and types of enemies within preexisting enemy groups.
Power rebalancing: Fine tuning existing powers to keep them roughly on par with each other.
Challenge rebalancing: Fine tuning the difficulty of existing content and fine tuning difficulty levels.
Rewards rebalancing: For anyone that thinks certain content needs to hive better rewards or, if they think something gives too good a reward. (Like anyone's going to think that.)
Store prices: Yes. Really. Do you think that the prices at the various stores in this game need to be looked at and adjusted or that they need to alter how some items can be purchased? Maybe you think we should be able to buy individual costume pieces as well as bundles. Here's your chance to say so.
And there you go. I wouldn't be surprised if I missed something but, I think that pretty much covers everything in the game. Thank you once more for taking the time to look over this. Let's try to keep it civil, neat, and orderly on the off chance that someone working for Cryptic does actually look at this and remember to encourage your friends to cast their vote as well.
I'd like to think that the list of choices I'm providing is inclusive of most, if not all, aspects of Champions Online
It's not. I'm gonna list the top three things, and I'm gonna do it my way. If you don't like it, tough, this is gonna be on the first page.
1. Playable Content
2. Systems Reworks
3. Power Works
1 and 2 are in no particular order. 3 comes after them. 1 and 3 are both an ongoing process, pretty much by necessity.
Because obviously people aren't going to get this:
What I really want, isn't going to happen. I know it's not, because it would require actual quality work to be done. On the other hand, it would result in the game's foundation becoming substantially stronger, as in a nutshell much of it is what was left out of On Alert.
What does this mean? When I say Playable Content and Systems Reworks, I'm considering that the Systems Reworks would be things that enhance all existing and future content. For instance, not only would features such as the difficulty slider be placed on the player as a debuff, but there would be an option to reduce your level down to any content you've already done and do it again, or if you missed it, do it the first time at the proper level. In addition to this, it would be possible to decrease your level further below the content you're fighting, in order to make enemies harder in another way, if you so choose, and the difficulty slider itself may actually be reworked in to a number of different settings, including things like larger spawn sizes and maybe even better AI.
Teaming would be reworked from the ground up, and instances would all get a pass to make them scale to a solo player, or a team of any size. This includes most if not all lairs. Spawns in the open world may even be designed to trigger in larger sizes, if this can be done in such a way as to not cause problems for the solo player (it didn't in CoX, but there were also less people running around out in the open). In addition to this, crossover missions would reward full XP to the player, probably with a cooldown of once an hour, and the mission journal would be treat crossover missions and personal missions in a separate list so they don't take up each other's space.
Future content would take advantage of these new systems, which would be designed from the ground up in such a way that they can be expanded upon if needed, and some of the bigger content, such as lairs, would see special things added to them based on team size and difficulty setting, including extra attacks, additional routes with special fights, enemies not seen anywhere else and even "secret" boss fights.
...I could go on, but honestly I think you get the idea.
...I just recently realized something really disturbing. We're all eating Sodapop3's "humble pie."
* I am casting a priority list, since I don't think it was set the rules if it was just one vote or multiple votes. If it was one vote, take my #1 choice.
I am casting a priority list, since I don't think it was set the rules if it was just one vote or multiple votes. If it was one vote, take my #1 choice.
It was to list in order of what you saw as priority so you did fine. Thank you for taking the time to read that and following directions.
since poll is biased against costume pieces
grouping them in with party balls and emotes
there are a lot of people in this game that feel costumes are an important part of this game. the CC crowd ,altmongers and RPers as well as creative types in general. your poll lacks credibility when you group that in with party bombs and emotes while making slight distinctions between other items. Although i respect that you are making an effort to communicate, it is compromised from your unbiased groupings.
1. Fix Might! (Bring back it's damage!)
2.Fix all or most remaining bugs.
3. Foundry
4. MORE DEVS! Better communication from dev team to us.
5. More missons involving our Nemesis.
6. End Game content.
7. New Frame work and powers.
8. New Zones
9. A pvp only zone. Something like Siren's call in COH.

Sounds like you've got it all worked out. Why don't you go to kickstart and ask for funds to develop the next superhero MMORPG?
3. New zones: That Victorian one they started talking about sounds really cool. Moon would be cool also.
4. PvP: I would like to see pvp completely removed from the game.
5. Fluff: Costumes. Lots and lots of costumes. Also, I want the sliders to be looked at. on the body mass slider past a certain point it can make you get smaller when you increase it if you are already maxed out in legs for example. I want women to be able to get exactly as big as the men.
6. Store prices: Many consumables are too expensive. Quite a lot of the questionite gear is too expensive for what it gives. I'd like to see a shift from zen to questionite more along the STO model.
7. Super groups: give us cool stuff to do together.
8. bug fixes: go through and clean up the long-term issues.
9. All the rest I don't care about. Even end game content. I'd rather make an alt and do it again that grind at max level.
This game is in zombie mode until they pull the plug on it. But since I like wish lists...
1. Leveling content: Multiple leveling paths have always been a popular way to extend playability.
2. Endgame content: Goes without saying. Even if there are new zones and missions it won't take long to run another alt through it because running another alt is your only option at cap.
3. PvP: I want it cut from the game and made into it's own game that is balanced for PvP instead of having the rest of the game crippled for it.
4. Store prices: Powers, ATs, and the freeform slot are overpriced.
1. Alternate leveling paths/meaningful endgame; constantly tossing new paint on west side doesn't count.
2. Removal of the chat ban system, this should never have been added, much less integrated in a way it would be so hard to remove that is bad coding.
3. bug fixes
4. Communication, we keep hearing it will get better, but actions speak louder then words. Telling us about sales doesn't count. Talk to us about the games direction.
5. Store prices reevaluated
6. Removal of the concept that if a mod fusion fails it can consume a mod unless a safeguard is used. Blatant cash grab is blatant.
7. Gamble boxes removed, contents of said boxes placed in the Z and Q stores.

*I believe non-scaleable content to be largely a fatal flaw common to MMOs that should be done away with in all games as soon as possible, and believe that making any new content non-scalable will only serve to serverely limit its usability
**I'm placing this one somewhat low because, while I think that this game could use some new locales to visit and explore and its one of the things I'd like the most, realistically I don't expect them to have them ready any time soon (if ever) and we really need the other stuff ASAP.
***Specifically GW2-style WvW instances of Heroes vs Villains based on zones, where we get to fight to Capture (if Villain) or Secure (if Hero) key locations across the map. YES, Ive heard the devs mention that they have no plans to ever add an option to play Villains before. NO I don't care
****At least as they are on their current incarnation.
Wait... 2 Gun does retardedly high damage now? When did this happen?!?!?
It's base damage is now 232 per shot, at 40. For comparison, Lightning Arc's base is 117-259. Where LA has 20% more damage versus targets w/ Negative Ions, 2 Gun has 10 percent resistance penetration. Must be using teflon.

Wrong on the CO forums since November, 2008
Customer Service actually READS the damn ticket; and takes prompt, fair, and intelligent actions to correct the issue
Power bugs (i.e.: 12 breakfree on Imbue, or Aspect of the Bestial R3 not giving stacks or working with Aggressor)
Mission bugs (Bullet for Biselle is STILL broken?! unacceptable)
Cutscene bugs (Monster Island Crisis ending, NPCs "sliding" around instead of running or walking, certain alerts not having sound)
New explorable content
New nemesis content, more options for nemesis power combinations (if not freeform)
Ability to create nemesis content missions with the Foundry
Finish revising the zones (especially the rewards, more R5 Avoidance cores needed)
Create hidden lairs on the zones, a nice little bonus for going on an adventure and exploring the zones
Rewards & Penalties re-balancing
Give the crafting nodes back their buffs (mysticism gave a moderate energy regen, science gave a light health regen, and arms should give a tiny buff to critical chance), and for goodness sake the 301+ skill objects should drop R3 to R5 mods, not just R3's!!!
Make the stars system actually mean something worthwhile... Maybe make it also affect your reward chances? That make people actually do a much better job of not dying, even if it was just a tiny 15% reward bonus (like the grab alert buff).
Speaking of penalties for dying and rewards for staying alive: Make all resurrection abilities function at 100% optimal capacity, no ranks (kind of like energy unlocks are rankless). It's total BS that you have to get a Become Celestial to have a resurrection that's a one-click, instant, 100%, and AoE. Seriously f***ing imbalanced pay-to-win. Since you can't just remove the Become Celestial for those who paid for it, make the other resurrections do something just as good. WIthout having to waste advantage points.
Make the Adventure Packs and Comic Series worth more than just a measly 2000 Q reward. Seriously you can get more gold/globals, XP, and Questionite in a tenth of the time it would take to run even the shortest of the adventure packs. WTF Cryptic?! You put so much good work into these. Do you hate your coworkers that much that you want to kick their hard work in the trash like that? Seriously consider increasing the rewards for these... It's sorely needed.
Certain costume drops are prohibitively rare in an extreme way... which is anti-customization. There's a balance between too rare and too common. Too common are like Heavy Taihas, Resistance Nightsticks, and Grab Earings. Too rare are like Gravitar's Haute Couture & Diamond Necklace, Valerian Scarlet's drops, Mindslayer Bracers, and Warlord's drops. The keyword is "balance" here, make sense? (some need to be made more rare, some need to be made less rare). You'll know you have it right when all costume drops are pretty stable in the 50g to 400g range, let 100g to 200g be the ideal target.
Fluff
PREMIUM EMOTE PACKAGES FOR SALE!!! (major source of profit for other MMOs)
Hideouts get completed, the additional areas give access to dueling or auction house access
250g cap increase sold in incremental increases for Silver players on the Z-Store (for profit). Star Trek Online has this, why not here. It's stupidly illogical this is not already so.
2 gun mojo is fine, its finally on par with the other single target maintains.
it does 20%-30% more than lightning arc, particle rifle, telekinetic assault etc, BUT they all have 100 foot range, 2 gun mojo just has a 50 foot range.
Half the range for 20%-30% more damage - thats a fair trade off imo

***Specifically GW2-style WvW instances of Heroes vs Villains based on zones, where we get to fight to Capture (if Villain) or Secure (if Hero) key locations across the map. YES, Ive heard the devs mention that they have no plans to ever add an option to play Villains before. NO I don't care
****At least as they are on their current incarnation.
EDIT: I reserve the right to rearrange this list
Wait... 2 Gun does retardedly high damage now? When did this happen?!?!?
About 2 patches ago they reworked a bunch of powers. Part of that was boosting was 2 gun mojo.
It's base damage is now 232 per shot, at 40. For comparison, Lightning Arc's base is 117-259. Where LA has 20% more damage versus targets w/ Negative Ions, 2 Gun has 10 percent resistance penetration. Must be using teflon.
I been a long time leaving but I'm going to be a long time gone.

it does 20%-30% more than lightning arc, particle rifle, telekinetic assault etc, BUT they all have 100 foot range, 2 gun mojo just has a 50 foot range.
Half the range for 20%-30% more damage - thats a fair trade off imo
